We have traveled Norwegian several times. While we have missed some port stops with due reason, overall the cruise lines has been good. They travel to many destinations that appeal to us. Cruise stewards have been proactive in our cabin, restaurants and around the ship. The main issue on many of the NCL cruises is use of internet. The internet can be sketchy at times with long lines at the one person IT desk. NCL needs to hire or have additional help the first few days of departure. Also each Captain needs to keep the customers informed immediately of changes or issues aboard the ship. Some Captains are very forthright about communicating while others wait days leading to gossip and speculation. read more

I have been with them in Hawaii, Alaska, Greece, the Caribbean, etc. On my last cruise (in July 2025), I paid a large sum of money to be in the Haven (their private suite area). We were 5 floors below the Haven. I complained and they apologized. They filed a claim on my behalf on the ship. When I returned home I contacted NCL a week later and was told, "So sorry you misunderstood." Things are fine when everything is good, but when they aren't, they will NOT make things right. There are other cruiselines. Do not use NCL. Oh, not to mention our room had sewage backup that they were never able to resolve. read more

NEVER SAIL Norwegian. (We subsequently found our friends had a similar experience years ago with Norwegian, so no this isn't a one-off.) But if you make the mistake, then start your packing list with the following: - Plunger - Plumbers Snake - Rubber Gloves - Cleaning Products - Air Freshener - Air Quality Tester - Sleeping Bag *When the toilet backs up daily, you'll be using the plunger and snake. *When you come back to your room and find the toilet overflowed onto the bathroom floor, you'll need the rubber gloves and cleaning products. *For the daily smell of sewer gas, use the air freshener. *When the fumes are overpowering and running the water and covering the floor drain don't stop the sewer gas, test to see how dangerous the air is to breath. *When they won't change your room or respond to requests timely or without attitude, sleep in the atrium with a sleeping bag. No joke, this was our cabin from the minute we got onboard. On the last day, we found out this affected at least the 4th, 8th, 9th and 10th decks of the ship. We weren't the only ones to cleanup raw sewage that overflowed in our bathroom. After continually getting 'there are other maintenance requests for the crew to attend to', we decided at 11:00 pm, to clean it up ourselves. They sailed the ship knowing the issue, had attitude when we brought issues up and corporate has yet to respond to our complaints. Oh wait that's not true, they gave us 'we are sending this out to the appropriate depts to review'. Big surprise, still haven't heard back from them. Two pieces of broken luggage (while in their hands) is something I might expect and tolerate. Sewage, never in a million years! Sailing Norwegian again, never in a million years! read more

enjoyed my cruise overall on the Norwegian. we had a balcony room which we absolutely loved the scenery. I would say the biggest downside was certain areas of the ship you had to pay for food, other areas were free. Also, the entertainment, some was free, some you had to pay for. I've been on the carnival cruise and I don't remember it being that way. The people on the ship, the waiter's, guest services etc. I noted that most every one of the staff were very friendly. Really Norwegian cruise lines. We have any left on our trip yet???? I have organized a group of 22 persons to join myself on the Norwegian Jade September 10, 2023... We have had the worst experience ever! I have had calls from every customer in my group about our (cruise specialist) . Not following through, not returning calls, not returning emails, it just goes on and on and I tried to have them removed from the account and that never happened because there was nobody to call me back to follow up. I am doing talk to text because I'm so angry right now that I am shaking, I found out this morning that one of our cruise members was not given a diversion to Athens two days prior. I have several photographs that I was being told to provide to the department to prove that we had a diversion set up all my telephone calls or to Wayne's direct number - I have proof he was responsible for the error... funny thing is they won't repair the air for this couple that are first time passport holders and first time live in the United States. Want to sail the Norwegian Jewel? You may want to read this first. If you wonder why the ship is cheap, there is a reason. First time sailors don't be fooled. You have better choices. Need internet? Choose another ship as this one's complicated system robs you of minutes every time you turn it on and turn it off (many ports do have free internet, except Colon, Panama- Cartagena and Santa Marta, Colombia). Want to be pampered with an exceptional level of courtesy and professionalism that you may have learned to experience and expect from a good cruise ship company? Choose another ship. The cafe's waiters walk around like zombies, cabin attendants do their jobs but if you need yours for something, good luck finding him. Expecting a great professional attentive crew? Choose another ship. Like to do things aboard the ship during the day? You will find that most will not suit you, but don't worry they do have some good TV shows and movies on your cabin TV set if nothing else. ( might as well stay home and watch your own). Or choose another ship. The waiters are unresponsive to simple custom orders, such as commanding half portion for example. You will rarely get it the way you want. Even at Burger King , you can have it your way. Speaking of food, if you are a gourmet, or even have just normal taste buds and expect yummy food, choose another ship. You will be disappointed in the food at the main dining room. After the first two or three nights of more or less the same bland the menu, we still found the Garden Cafe, even with its cafeteria style food was a better option. At least more variety to pick and choose. The Brazilian steakhouse, Moderno disappointed us, but the best cheeseburgers were cooked at O'Sheehan's, so if you expect more than chowing down on my burgers only, you may want to choose another ship. I know. This is not my first cruise. I expect and expected better. First time I've ever walked off a ship and needed a vacation to get over it all! read more

Just came back to port in Seattle yesterday morning from our honeymoon cruise to Alaska and Victoria, British Columbia: I do not think I could ever try another cruise company. We opted for "The Haven" room, which though more expensive is EXTREMELY relaxing, inclusive, and care free. All of the crew, no matter their position, were as helpful and as accommodating as imaginable. Everywhere we went food was delicious and fresh, every single surface on the boat was spotless like it was cleaned moments ago. Temperature control was spot on, rooms were always cleaned and ready for you, the ship (NCL Pearl) was easy to navigate with many elevators and stairs in many locations, and if you ever seemed lost or confused, a crew member was eager to assist you. Helpful announcements by our cruise director Dan were made when coming to and leaving port and when the cruise started and finished. Everything seemed well organized and there was always something to do in the lounges, bars, theaters, etc. The boat was well decorated everywhere: in ports we saw other ships from Holland and Princess: and though they were fine looking ships, they looks boring compared to the Norwegian line. Food and drinks were plentiful, and each location had a different menu for food and beverages alike and there was no need to hunt for a place to relax and have a meal with a view. This is the first cruise of my adult life and the first one my wife has ever been on and we had a hard time leaving the ship: not because of any issues, but because the crew the took care of our room, dining, and other needs treated us so well that is was like saying goo-bye to new friends, almost like family. Our Haven courtyard butler Santan was a shining star in making our cruise memorable and special, always asking if there was anything he could grab us: he even memorized what we liked (breakfast items, favorite drinks, routines...etc) searched the entire boat for the last Alaskan Amber on board, and took some time to get to know us personally and told us a little about his works, family, and home. He impressed us so much that we will be calling the Miami corporate office to make sure they know the positive impact that he had on us during our trip. Just a word of caution to anyone thinking about booking a cruise with @norwegiancruiselines... don't do it! My friend Laura Brickman Goslin and I booked a cruise (first time - never cruised before) before Covid hit in December of 2019. 1st cruise cancelled to clean...then Covid hit. Every time they cancelled another one, we had to go through the booking process all over again. (Takes over an hour) If you miss a deadline you don't get the additional 20% credit. We actually never have gotten additional credits and this is the 5th cancellation. Our last rebook cost us $100 more and we lost the dining perk. I've been very ill and am now considered immune compromised so we tried to get our money refunded. All they will do is give us credits to use in the future! Even with medical proof! $2800 for each of us. That's a lot of money for me. They advertise this "peace of mind" option but you never get told you have to keep rebooking by the deadline and can't ever get your money back only these future credits that expire. I feel totally taken advantage of, misled by their website and lied to by Kirby our Norwegian Cruise Lines representative. We were actually told by a phone rep on 2/16 that the only way to get a real refund is if one of us "DIE"! She really said that! Cruise with Disney Cruise Line or any other company if you can cause this cruise line doesn't care about the client and continues to sell new cruises and take people's hard earned money knowing that they can't sail. We have gone on several Norwegian Cruise Line cruises was supposed to fly to San Juan Puerto Rico on February 10 but my husband tested positive the day we were to fly out. We had to cancel the cruise. We sent all the paperwork and copies of his test on the 10th. We are only asking for cruise credits so we can go on another cruise March 13 and we are still waiting for a reply. This is ridiculous you can't talk to anyone to get these credits so we can go ahead and go since we got the time off. I would think they would rather give us Credits rather than a refund if we go through our insurance. We have talked to the 800 number and they can't seem to help. I love to travel and have done a few cruises (and I enjoyed them) but I was let down by Norwegian Cruise Lines. What they called "The Caribbean" was really Mexico and Central America. They did a lot of cheesy things to make you feel like cattle, shuttled you as tourist marks from one time share-like pitch (i.e.: you think it's a fun game and raffle but you gotta sit through a whole art auction to see if your guess on the Picasso price was right!) ;-/ to another. They capitalized on us being captive audiences and tried to upsell us add ons at every turn. They tacked on $14/day, per person, for tips. When you've got 8 people in your party for over a week, that can add up - and it's not even allocated based on service. If you do go NCL, book your own excursions solo. We were able to save about...oh...75% doing the exact same things on our own. :( Cheesy. Try Holland America. Hands down the best. I've also done Princess which was nice, too - and they both actually go to the Caribbean. read more

WARNING- my brother bought 7 cruise tickets through Norwegian Cruises with insurance that he was promised the tickets could be refunded "at any time". They told him this over the phone (yet never sent him info on the insurance). One couple cancelled so he tried to use his insurance for the promised refund. They didn't stand by their salespersons word and only refunded $2500 of a $3500 ticket. He escalated it and they still refused, although they did offer $750 off his next cruise...as if any of us would take another cruise with them after their blatant false sales techniques. We had two cruises we were planning to do through Norwegian. Their loss! On our cruises we had excursions for 5 at each stop, two of us spent major $$ on art plus drinks, games etc. Norwegian your failure to stand behind your poorly trained and/or lying salespeople has successfully lost you far more than $1000. Took a Caribbean cruise recently... I will never ever use this cruise line again... Food was beyond terrible across the board no matter where you are on the boat... Terrible beer selection... The bartenders were incompetent making people line up one at a time to order drinks.... ??? What bar does that...?? The staff was lazy ... Slow and could careless about you. On top of that they booked a special for college students takeing up about 1/4 of the population of the guest... No warnings to other guest they were doing this... Had I know I would have made other plans... Needles to say that 1/4 of the boat trashed the entire boat with in hours of getting on.... Spilled drinks and vomit all over..... I strongly suggest princes cruise line they are leaps and bounds better than this shit show poor excuse for a cruise line. read more

They delivered all that they promised and a good price they even upgraded us to a mini suite when we made the request. Let me preface this review with that I consider myself to be a seasoned cruiser. I have cruised 13 times and 3 of them have been with Norwegian. This past cruise on the Escape to New England and Canada was the worst cruise I have ever been on. Our party included myself, my cousin, her brother and her 90 year old mother. I know this review is long, but I think it will be worth your time if you read the whole thing. I will first mention the Pro's since they are few. The food and service in the dining venues were very good as was the choices for dining. The entertainment was enjoyable. The excursions that were offered were fun, however there was a lack of directions and communication from the excursion reps. The public restrooms were large and clean. Now to the Con's. We drove from Pittsburgh to Manhattan to embark onto the ship. This is the first time I have ever driven. In the past I have always flown and had transfers to the ship from the airport. Upon arrival there was no signage to tell us that we should go to the second level first to unload our luggage before parking. After parking we discovered there was no one to give us direction as to what we should do with our luggage. There was a woman in a booth, but she was too busy having face time with a friend to help us. I then decided to take the elevator down and found the embarkation was on the second level. I then took a large baggage carrier to the parking roof where we had to load our luggage to transport it. I was hoping that this was the last of the problems, but was sadly mistaken. When we finally made it to our rooms, things just got worse. My 90 year old aunt had an ocean view room. She had a fold up walker and the doorway to her cabin was so narrow that she couldn't enter until she closed her walker. The lights would not come on without the cabin key card being left in the light switch. Can you imagine a 90 year old woman folding a walker while trying to find the light switch to put her key into. An accident just waiting to happen. We later found out that we could get a skeleton key that could be used to keep the lights on. This is something that should be offered right away. My cousin and I had an inside cabin so off we went to find it. It was like working through a maze to get to our cabin. I have never been so confused in my life. The hallways to the cabins were so narrow that my cousin and I could not walk side by side. After finding our cabin we discovered that we only had a very small closet and no drawers for our clothes. There was a bed that could be pulled down from the wall so that is where we had to put our folded clothes for the remainder of the cruise. I still don't know why our cabin was set for 3 guests since we did not request that. I think they are trying to squeeze as many people as they can into a room. We also had no tissues, toilet paper and there was food left in the refrigerator from the previous cruise. Unbelievable!!!! As I stated the entertainment was good, but reservations had to be made to see the shows. I have never had to do this before. The theater was only one floor instead of two and it couldn't handle the 5200 guests on the ship. The cost of drinks and spa treatments were very high compared to other cruises. The Guest Services is a joke. We had several issues that we brought to their attention and they were not receptive at all. They defiantly need more training. Don't waist your time trying to call them. I was on hold for 25 minutes before physically going to the service desk. I expected to see a crowd of people since my call was not being answered. There was no one there so I have to presume that they just didn't want to answer the call. This ship is just too big to provide the type of service that I have received in the past from Norwegian. The saying bigger is better certainly does not apply to this cruise ship. read more

Worst cruise line ever. Booked my Hawaiian island cruise for April 2020 only to have it cancelled due to scheduled maintenance. Hello. . . .why would you schedule a cruise this far in advance only to cancel it a week later???? Then they book me on a cruise from Honolulu to Vancouver. OMG! I was livid. It was a total screw-up and could not get anyone to understand that we just wanted to cruise around the islands and come back to Phoenix. We did not want to go to Vancouver (beautiful city). Recently completed a 7 day cruise on Norwegian Bliss to Mexican Riveria 10/20-10/27 it was a huge disappointment. It was so disorganized. Information was not communicated properly and the mandatory mustering was a disaster. 4000 people who didn't know where to go all crowded into halls pushing and shoving. Most things were announced by overhead speakers which could not be heard in our rooms. The buffet was so crowded everyone pushing to get their food in line and by the time you get your food there were no tables to eat it on! Previous cruise on Celebrity much better. We booked a cruise 6 weeks ago and were told by our cruise consultant Diana Garcia that if the price of our room were to go down, we would be compensated or upgraded. We were also told that this was the best time to buy. Since that day the price has dropped 50%! 50%! I called today, because Diana left the office on Friday for the weekend an hour after I left her a message. So much for Customer Service. I spoke to James who treated me as if I had never traveled (I was a supervisor for 14 years with an international travel company) and was then transferred to Sylvia, a supervisor with no customer service skills. Since my friend and I had already paid for twice the current rate of the cabin we are holding and the current rate of that same category cabin as a single is now less than the double occupancy rate, we want to be moved into 2 single rooms. We've already paid that much. I was told we could be moved into the next higher room category but we could not have two rooms. Somehow a single room is not an upgrade. I'm suggesting that they keep the better room and sell it to two people and get twice the price rather than just offering it to us. I was told giving us two singles had never been done before. Just because something has never been done does not mean it can't be. Sylvia was unwavering and uninterested in even considering my solution. I am truly worried that if the customer service of Norwegian Cruise line is so poor while I am still on dryland, what will I be facing when I'm at sea? The Customer Service level at the call center is horrendous, uncaring, and pathetically unimaginative. We are considering canceling. read more

I am currently on the phone with Brandi- supervisor with reservations for Norwegian Cruises. I am scheduled to cruise on May 21. I booked this cruise over a year ago for a 4 night cruise ( 2 days in Cuba) through Expedia. About 2 months ago I called Norwegian to inquire about purchasing the visa for entry into Cuba. It was at this time I was advised my itinerary had changed (without notice to me or my guest from expedia) and we would not receive 2 full days in Cuba. I was then placed on hold for over 2 hours while Carmen called Expedia and went back and forth with them regarding the change. My room was changed from the 5th floor to the 9th floor ( same type of room) and I was promised a call back from another department to discuss other options. Both parties agreed there was a mistake. Now keep in mind I paid $1591.06 for this cruise (not including airfare) and $333 of that are taxes and "fees". No one has been able to explain what the fees are. I registered with NCL last night and upon doing so, was informed of a $19.99 service charge per person- per day... that is how I ended up on the phone with rude- Frances and then her even ruder supervisor, Brandi ( Out of Arizona). I was told these were gratuities "automatically" added to my on board account daily and I could "discuss" removing them at the end of my cruise. I was also told it wasn't their fault that I lose money booking outside excursions in Cuba- as I should have booked with them! F YOU I have the nerve to charge this entire cruise back and fly to Thailand with that money! My family and I cruised with over 30 members last June to the Bahamas and were looking for another cruise line to book our annual trip on and it will NOT BE Norwegian. I am so disappointed with my recent customer service experience with NCL. I used to tell everyone how wonderful NCL was to book a cruise with and the ship crew was nothing but great. That has changed! Sorry to say we have a cruise with NCL in June to Norway and rather than feel excited about our upcoming trip we feel more like we were just ripped off. This will be the last cruise I will take with NCL. On booking we were given false information and talked into an upgrade we did not want (supposedly extra credits for shore excursions that we don't typically take, was not a cabin upgrade)and now are paying much more than the current rates for the same dates/cabin. We have tried to get some kind of explanation why we were incorrectly guided into something we did not want and pretty much were told too bad. Shame on NCL, I would think a cruise line would prefer to keep their customers. There are plenty of other options for vacations and cruising and I will certainly remember this when planning my next vacation.
