The lounge is clean and friendly. A little small and can get crowded. The cigar selection is decent. Cigar prices are expensive but reasonable for a cigar lounge. Sometimes you find a very unique cigar you haven't seen before. read more

First time here but the cigar selection and quality of cigar seem really good for a storefront cigar place. The prices are inline with expectations of any regular cigar smoker that frequent lounges. There is a nice, but small lounge. Would easily seat 15-20 people. Well appointed. Good ventilation. Three TVs. Comfortable, leather seats. The usual. Big Jim! My man with the plan. My buddies live pretty close and they've been coming here for years. I have a tight schedule and couldn't make NYC so we all decided on Jim's Stogies to hang for an hour or two. Jim is a nice guy, he is always there to make suggestions. What's nice about this place, there is no membership. You buy a cigar and can smoke in the back. No pressure, how cool is that?? Nice selection of cigars at reasonable prices. There is a bar in the back that doesn't open until 6:30. It would be nice to BYOB at 5pm. I'm not sure if Jim is open to that suggestion. TV's, comfy chairs and smokes. My pops was on a mission to find some good stogies while he was visiting from California, dropped him off at this location which had an ample supply considering. Drove all the way out to the Hamptons and proceeded to indulge in our Romeo and Juliet's. Upon lighting, at least three were duds. Went in with mixed expectations, and, was extremely impressed. The small storefront is misleading, this place is rather large. Went with a friend, and we both wanted to try different cigars from what we normally smoke, and both of us loved the cigar that was recommended for us (a different one each). Prices were fine, not cheap nor expensive. After hearing that this place was byob, apparently it's not true, or doesn't work on the night they have a bartender. Oh, by the way, walk into the back lounge area, and sit in one of the extremely comfy chairs. The place feels like it's a regulars/members only type place who doesn't want you to be there, but the few people we dealt with were very friendly. Will be back. read more

Great local cigar shop located on Main Street Farmingdale. They have a big selection of cigars where you can definitely find a cigar that will satisfy your pallet. I had a great conversation with Jim about some of the cigars he sold in his shop and he's very knowledgable about the business. If you get a chance theres a great lounge in the back where you can sit and enjoy your cigar while watching the game or whatever is on TV. I believe after 5pm he has a bartender there to serve you some top shelf liquor. Great shop Jim i'll be visiting you again. read more

Sorry not Sorry but the new management is absolutely terrible. Something about him just gave me and a couple friends such an uncomfortable feeling. He literally stood on top of me while i was making a selection, almost pervy and his comments in front of my husband were so inappropriate and the place itself is Way too dark and Smokey, the furniture is so worn out and ripped. Though it might not look so big from the outside, this place certainly surprised me. I like the nice collection of different cigars from all over. The staff is very helpful and recommended me their cohiba. $20 well spent. It tasted fresh and even came in a mice and fancy aluminum casing. Not everyone wants to celebrate with a cigar, but when the urge strikes, it's likely when drunk, already out celebrating on Main Street. So I stumbled in here one night and they had some quality selections and a very knowledgeable cigar-keep, who gave us the run down on the different types of cigars and gave me my first serious lesson in cigar connoisseurship, if you will. They have a smoking lounge, which I think is really neat and is definitely better than smoking outside. Hidden Jem, a lot of people remember a bad reputation, they don't have a bar anymore, now a better BYOB all the time no odd bar hours. A little dated yes but it's a cigar lounge and it kind of fits the experience. Great staff, the selection is large could use some updated selections but still much larger than other cigar shops. Ah I hate to give 1 star. I really do. But here's the deal, I'm super easy to please. If I'm walking into a store and there's literally a tiny space, you and one other customer, then whoever is working there damn well better at least acknowledge that you've entered the establishment. I walked around browsing the mediocre selection for a solid 5-7 minutes with nary a nod from the employee. In my books, I'll never come back to your establishment for that. What's worse is that as a woman going into a cigar store, it's often assumed that we don't know what we're talking about it getting anyway. Jim's is a great place to kick back with some friends, enjoy a nice smoke or two and some premium drinks. Can't forget those big and very comfy chairs he has also! If you're looking for somewhere to smoke a cigar pipe, this would be the place for you! Don't let the small storefront fool you. It's actually a nice size smoke shop and cigar bar in the rear. He also sells lighters, cutters, cigar pipes and accessories. All of the cigars have been as fresh as can be when I've smoked them right from the shop and sat down in the lounge. Jim, John, Nick and his other staff members including the very nice ladies who work in the bar especially Lydia are down to earth and friendly. I've never had any issues. I've been a regular here to the shop prior to Jim taking it over when it used to be called "Stogies 'N Tales" back in the day. There were rules that needed to be enforced that you have to be 25 and older to sit in the back lounge. At times the younger crowd would literally stumble into the shop and be obnoxious. It ruined the mood of a cigar lounge, you're there to relax, have a drink or two and watch some sports games with the company of good friends or make new ones. So something had to give and props to Jim for stepping up and controlling it. The store hours aren't the best in my opinion but I'm ok with them. He's closed on Tuesdays and on Monday's 5pm-10pm, the rest of the week opening at 12pm with variation of closing depending on the day of the week. I wish there could be longer winter hours or open earlier in the day. I sure as hell don't want to be freezing my a** off trying to enjoy a real nice cigar outside in this New York weather. In the summer time, I can see his hours changing as it's a little slower in the shop and people are out and about enjoying the warmth. At times, yes they do run out of alcohol. Now I didn't complain because I had something else to drink. It happens and no ones perfect. I did mention it to him though. I happened to be there a day after he said the bar was completely stocked. Apparently, there was standing room only and people were standing in the front of the shop smoking a cigar. So it happens that he had a really busy night and ran out of certain alcohols. Just as it might anywhere else. ...And although to some this might be anticipated as more of a guy's hangout, I've seen the ladies come in to sit down and enjoy company of their dates, husbands, boyfriends or friends as well!!! Good selection of different brands and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The lounge is great and very big which is a pleasant surprise because the store front looks small at first glance. They're usually open decently late so it's nice to go to after a meal or drink from one of the restaurants on the street. A really nice place to watch a game and relax. read more

Quality cigar bar with a great selection of cigars. They used to have a bar there but they recently decided not to keep the liquor license. Comfortable seating and dim lighting. My friends and I have always joked about going to this place and smoking cigars in the back. Well, for Monday night's NBA Playoffs, that joke became a reality.... But it wasn't a joke. I was pleasantly surprised at how accommodating this cigar bar was to its customers. I purchased my cigar in the front of the store from Ken (who was great). I met my friends in the back seating area where there were 3 TVs, comfortable leather couches and chairs, and refrigerators behind the bar if you bring your own drinks. Ken came over every hour or so to make sure everything was fine and if anyone needed anything. When the games ended, nice jazz music played that wasn't too loud, but was not too soft. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone thinking about visiting this location. They provided exactly what my friends and I wanted. I give it 4.5 stars due to being closed on Tuesdays and not being able to serve alcohol (which is made up for by being BYOB). read more
