Moderate wait on a Saturday night given the modest amount of seating, but worth the wait. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the interior was clean and definitely maximized use of the space. Onto the food....we were happy with all of the dishes we tried -- despite the full restaurant, the dishes came out reasonably fast and had good portions. The cucumber salad was fresh, had a Japanese rice vinegar + chili oil-based marinade, with crisp cucumber chunks mixed with fresh cilantro leaves and chopped stems. Not that spicy but that was a good thing for an appetizer starter as it was refreshing. The fried rice with diced Cantonese pork sausage was well-cooked as the rice grains retained their texture and a good balance of salty and fattiness. The stir-fried eggplant with Japanese tofu was also excellent, with a generous portion of eggplant with a black bean sauce over the top of fried custardy Japanese tofu -- probably our favorite dish of the ones we tried. One of their signature dishes is braised pork belly with hard-boiled quail eggs -- another excellent dish that included chunks of tender braised pork belly and medium hard-boiled quail eggs swimming in a rich, soy-based gravy that went great with the fried rice, although probably better over white rice so that the flavors don't compete.
