We brought our Doberman, Rex, to Dr. Sobol twice in the last two months for the same anal gland issue. After two rounds of antibiotics and nearly $600 in treatment costs, the problem is still unresolved and Rex continues to have discomfort and odor. When I called today to discuss next steps and whether the office would be willing to work with us given the repeated visits for the same unresolved issue, Dr. Sobol immediately responded, "If you're asking for a discount, the answer is absolutely not." I understand veterinarians deserve to be paid for their services. However, after multiple unsuccessful treatments, I expected a more compassionate and collaborative response rather than an immediate dismissal centered around payment. A wonderful practice! When you enter the office, you are always greeted with a warm hello, as is your animal(s). The ladies behind the desk are very kind and sweet and calls are always returned in a timely manner. The doc's assistants/techs are truly gems. You feel comfortable leaving your animal in their care and it's quite evident that they truly love what they do. One of the techs (sadly his name escapes me) always greets our boys with hugs and kisses! Dr. Sobol is an amazing diagnostician. He is not an alarmist, which I so appreciate. We have found him to be thorough, very compassionate and easy to talk to. Being new-comers to Florida, it was imperative that we find a vet for our dogs/cat - someone who we could trust as much as we would a pediatrician and we are so grateful that we have. I brought my cat in as an unexpected emergency 3 days ago to Dr. Sobol's office (Dr. Sobol was out) and everyone was amazing there! They were incredibly sweet and helpful. If you read Andrea C's review, please note a couple of things... she may have been the only one in the waiting room, but she couldn't be brought back because the exam rooms were filled at the time. Also, the food being discussed and ordered was more like an ordeal under 10 minutes because the tech at the front wanted to verify the correct type and then there was an issue with the site. Despite the food being for someone else's baby, you can hear what goes on out there when others are being assisted as you wait for results. Since the food time was exaggerated, I question the authenticity of the rest. While I rarely post reviews (only contemplated it because of Dr. Sobol's signs and how amazing they were with my baby), I do read them and felt I had to post one after reading Andrea C's because it's not an accurate depiction of their office and needs a counterbalance. Although I can understand the frustration of having to wait, this happens at a vet's office just like it does at a doctor's office (especially when they're fitting in emergencies like mine). I'm sorry you had to wait Andrea, but please recall this is part of life and your review saddens me because you're messing with someone's business/livelihood so it would be nice if you were accurate with your post. Last, I'm not sure if you're a regular there but it sounds to me that the doctor covering Dr. Sobol was being thorough after hearing a murmur and suggesting diagnostics to see everything that's really going on as I'm sure you brought your baby in for more than the cough that you're used to managing on your own. It's good that you know Daisy has heart issues but sometimes that mixed with whatever you brought her in for could still call for diagnostics to be sure about what's going on as missing something in a patient with heart issues could, quite literally, be deadly. This is, unfortunately, experience talking now. At Dr. Sobol's, as with most vets, they calculate everything up front so you know their suggested plan and you make decisions from there. Perhaps you were upset from the wait and/or maybe seeing the various suggestions and prices, which are fair and the typical industry standard, set you off more? Either way, please temper future posts by considering all aspects and comparing things against what's normal and appropriate and/or thorough versus an actual lack of care and concern. We were in the Davie area when our dog suddenly started coughing. We didn't know what to do because we were vacationing from out of state. I called Sobol at 9:15 in the morning and they were able to see me at 10 AM. The vet took so much time with me to fully examine my dog and discuss the possible causes of her coughing. I took Daisy, my 9.5 year-old mixd breed to Dr. Sobol. We waited 10 minutes before being checked in b/c the two people at the desk were ordering dog food online. We were only owner/pet in waiting room. After checking in we waited another 20 minutes before being shown to an exam room. 10 minutes later a tech came in and was very puzzled to hear about Daisy's honking cough, which is very common in dogs with heart issues. 10 minutes later a vet came in (not Dr. Sobol) and examined Daisy for a few minutes, including listening to Daisy's heart, and told me Daisy had a heart murmur. The vet told me they would create a plan for Daisy. 10 minutes later tech came back with $900+ estimate to diagnose Daisy. I paid my $60 and left. read more

I've been going to Dr. Sobol for years now. We were tired of vets who overcharged and who really didn't seem to know or care about our pets. When it came time to make a decision for our 15yo Boston, we found Dr. sobol by chance. However, his staff was so kind and nice through that difficult time and we didn't get slammed with a $300 bill (that happened at a Weston vet). We have used him ever since and all my friends go there too now. I highly recommend him. He doesn't perform or recommend unnecessary procedures. For example, I have a hound with chronic ear problems and we have tried different remedies and adjust as needed. He doesn't mind that I always try natural remedies and oils. We discuss treatment options and the latest treatments. He's thorough and always explains to me. He is an honest man and we won't take our animals anywhere else. We have a Shiba Inu female dog. Dr. Sobol is the ONLY Dr. that has been able to complete an exam, including looking in her ears & bum, without her having a fit. The staff is well trained and handle our dog expertly. The entire staff is excellent with our dog; they are not afraid of the dog. Dr. Sobol is absolutely amazing. Truly. We have brought every foster here for neuter and medical care and I have never experienced such masterful care than what Sobol offers. All of our fosters have healed without the need for a cone because incisions were so small and precise. By the next day they were acting like nothing happened. My dogs who were neutered elsewhere took forever to heal and endured pain for at least two weeks after surgery. I will never take my babies anywhere else. Sobol is THE BEST. read more

After combing reviews and visiting different vets in Broward (Lakeside, VCA Central Park, central Broward) Dr Sobel became our new vet for our two shih-tzu fur babies. In his practice we found the best mix of friendliness, attentiveness, care, and knowledge and experience (this includes dr Sobel and all of his vet and office staff). We were so sad to leave him and his staff due to relocation to California. As the saying goes, you don't know what you have until it's gone. My dog needed a dental cleaning and a tooth extraction. He had to go under anesthesia for it, which I was nervous about. He is 11 years old. Dr. Stu assured me that he would be just fine. Which he was! They did a great job on his teeth. Very pleased with the outcome. My dog is happy too, hehe. The staff was so sweet and friendly. One of the girls at the counter said my dog was "talking" (barking) a lot after his procedure...which I felt bad about , but she didn't show that it bothered her at all. He was very thorough and I found him to be quite likable and he was very gentle and caring with my dog. He administered and treated my dog with medications that actually worked. I LOVE Dr. Sobol and Dr. Markley. I live in Sunrise but I hoof it all the way to Southwest Ranches off Griffin Rd and i75 just because of how good Dr. Sobol and Dr Markley are with the animals. They treat them with care and respect. I've been going here for three years now after the veterinarian I was taking my dog to previously misdiagnosed my dog with cancer and wanted to put him down without even doing testing to check it out. They are responsive and call back immediately if you need anything. If your pet is in for any reason aside from the annual shots, they call the next day or two to check on them and see how they're doing. My previous vet never did that! They actually CARE about their patients here. You won't find a better vet office than here. I won't take my pets anywhere else! read more

We adopted a puppy and his first vet was at this clininc. We ask for a full physical on her, however they ut vaccines and at the end he found a little scar on her face and said it could be mange or maybe just a bite for house roughing with her siblings. I get angry at myself for not pushing him to do it. Instead I follow his advise to monitor it. We kept going back and forth until of the sudden she lost all her hair and her health decreased it turned out she had an extreme case of mange , it could had made a big difference if he had the suspicion about it he had done the test....We were naive to follow his advise and we spent so much money going in and out of his office finally we decide to switch vets and Our new vet help our dog's recovery really fast. The staff is really nice and the doctor as well; but either he had not the experience or he knew it was mange and let i go far to kept us spending money at his office. He even mentioned to keep at the back of our head our pup might not make it and the next step of antibiotics was a dip bath, when i did research everyone else recommends this as a very last resource. Our new vet laugh it off and said only inexperienced so call vets recommend that, now a days there are so many things to do before a dip bath! I LOVE Dr. Sobol's office! Not only are the employees nice and very helpful, but Dr. Sobol is extremely knowledgeable. He also isn't like the multiple vets I've taken my dogs to in the past where they rush you through, short answers to your question, and just inattentive. He spends time with you, explains things, and takes the time to GET TO KNOW your dog. I saw that he cares the moment he came into the room. He approached my dog in a friendly, encouraging way, petting him and talking to him. That's nothing I've ever seen before. The first experience I had with Dr. Sobol's office was in search of a specific vet only provided food and even though they didn't have it in the office at the time I called, they went out of their way to get the food so that I didn't have to drive all the way to Sheridan and 95, at least an hour there and back to work. My first contact with this vet was on a weekend (bad thing always happen nights and weekends with my dogs) my female doberman had pulled her cruciate ligament. Dr. Sobol met us at his office and x-rayed her and gave us our options. I consulted my normal vet and several others and in the end I felt most comfortable with him so he ended up having to do surgery on her the following week. While she was recovering she pulled the other side and needed another surgery. You would think that she would hate going to the vet after 2 surgerys, but because of the love and caring she received she looks forward to going. I had never used Dr Sobol before this but because my dog loves him so much I had to change vets to keep her happy. My dogs have been going to him for over a year now and have never been spoiled so much. Everyone who works in the office loves pets, it is nice to go to a place you can trust and know that your pet will be fine. It's also a plus that he is not as expensive as most of the vets in this area. I will be using him for both my 4 legged babies for a long time. read more
