Since that time, he has been my go to specialist for cardiac care as my insurance has allowed. He's thorough, knowledgeable and most tests (stress, EKG, ECG, halter monitoring) can be done in his office. The staff is small and includes his wife, a couple nurses and techs. He's a serious doctor so don't mistake his candor for a bad bedside manner. I trust his approach and would recommend him to others as well. It appeared that there may have been another patients paperwork that was just left in my room unattended. The doctor that I saw was unprofessional with awful bedside manner. Refused to give me continued treatment for something I have been diagnosed with for well over two years now. Took them almost half an hour after my scheduled appointment just to call me back. Something just didn't seem right about this place. The door was left open during some parts of my appointment where I hardly had any privacy.

One time we're late (like I said, elevator doesn't work for the elderly who need it and there's never any parking up front.) It took us an extra 5 minutes from the 15 were given when late to any appointment. Apparently, there were so many people after us at the same time were supposed to be in with the doctor. That's just money greed for you in today's age. Doctors try to get you in and get you out within 5 minutes & charge you the sum of your house. Disgusting. No one else is here and yet the doctor still can't see him yet. I hope karma burns this place to the ground. If you love your loved ones, don't bring them here. And if you hate your loved ones, then I recommend you drop them off at the front door at the ground level and have them try to work their way up only to deal with the spanish speaking guard dog up front in the the office. As an RN, I was aware of the guidelines for treatment, and he follows ALL the recommended treatments based on the most recent evidence. When the office building experienced a broken pipe, the elevators were nonfunctioning, and we were left to wait in the building management office until they were restored or reschedule. Dr. Mafi came to the 2nd floor and saw us in the conference room since we were unable to get to his 7th floor office. If you're looking for a cardiologist, I can highly recommend him.

I…read morewent in for a physical recently with a new Doctor and talked about my desire to get back in the gym and lose some weight - I've been experiencing some conditions that led me to worry about my cardiovascular health. So I was scheduled for a Nuclear Stress Test. They inject a radioactive isotope into your cardiovascular system - then use a special imaging system to capture imagery of your heart and cardiovascular system. Then they put you on a treadmill, hook up a bunch of sensors to you, get your heart rate up to 148, then inject another round of radioactive isotope into your system - then re-image you a second time. After you get off the treadmill, you are then allowed to eat some snacks and drink juice or water which they provide. The two ladies who were the nurse technicians who ran me through the sequence of steps were very nice. They warn you to expect to be there 3-4 hours - I got out in 2.5 hours. My results came back today and no problems were found - so onto the gym!

I've been a patient of Dr. Wierzbicki for years. Their office change to join Sentara and my doctor…read moremoved to Virginia Beach. The New Sentara is horrible. I tried to call to schedule an appointment and could not reach the office. They asked me a bunch of questions and was on the phone for 20 minutes only for them to transferred me to the nurse station. There is no way to even call the office without now going through Sentara. When I finally got through with the nurse they send me to the ER. My doctor would have never send me to the ER for just and UTI. They do not care about the "Personal" interaction any more. I hate this office now. I miss my doctor a lot and the small office not some robotic agency. Dr. John was a great doctor and was very personal in the past. I'm guessing the change to be Sentara was a business decision that relieves Dr. John and his previous staff of day to day issues but it's a horrible change!!! Now we can't even talk to the office. If this is now the new normal with the change to Sentara it's definitely not patient oriented or in anyone's best interest. Actively looking for another doctor.
