I can't say enough good things about NOVA Movers. I've moved numerous times, including living overseas, and this was by far the most stressful move of my life (downsizing from a townhouse to a small 2 bedroom apartment under difficult circumstances). Amine from the get-go was professional, courteous and very helpful. The 3 person crew were competent, efficient and very pleasant. What was also much appreciated, is that they were extremely patient: I had family and friends giving instructions as to where furniture and boxes would be placed in the new home; however, a few items had to be moved from one room to the next and they didn't complain or appear frustrated once. They also wrapped furniture carefully and there was no damage to any items. I plan to hire them again soon as I will be buying a few pieces of furniture from different locations. In a recent local move, Nova Movers recently damaged my television set, beyond repair. After submitting my claim for damages, I never heard from them again. I've also discovered that the company failed to reinstall several support bolts when reassembling my bed. I would not recommend this company. read more

The owner seems nice to get business ,but If you have any issues after he will not respond. I was quoted for a certain time and price, which ended up being double of the original quoted price. The moves that came where in a beat up truck and 45 minutes late. They took a lot of breaks and damaged items while moving to my new location. DO NOT USE! We booked NOVA movers and boy do I now wish I would have booked Marlon Furniture (571-525-6129) they were better prices. Booked a 3 man crew and only 2 showed up the 3rd showed up maybe 9ish and well he could have stayed home. I don't blame the movers they did the best. I blame the office for not booking the right people for the job. You put people on the job that can do 4th floor apartment. The one guy struggled grabbing one thing at a time. This place NEVER mentioned a $300 service fee that was 100% left out when I spoke to Amine. Side of their truck says FREE boxes, tape, blankets and wrap, not true at all. We took a picture of the Side of the truck. Amine acted like he had no clue what my husband was talking about. My husband ran a moving company and this place needs help in the office. They didn't pack the truck right and had to make two runs and even then it took 9 hours. Kept catching the one on the phone with I assume his wife. We have a few friends moving soon and wanted to know who we used so they can us either we told them not too and why so they will be booking with Marlon Furniture (571-525-6129). Amine wants to act like he told me about the service fee and ignore our complaint about the movers and didn't adjust the price at all I will not recommend them to anyone! Terrible moving experience. Very unprofessional movers who took exceptionally long and they didn't finish putting together my furniture. They also lost pieces of my bed resulting in me not having my bed put back together at the end of the night. They also didn't take responsibility for missing pieces to my furniture. One of the movers actually yelled at me during the move for kindly asking him not to scratch the wood on my furniture. They also were laughing inappropriately and cursing in Spanish at women passing by. Finally, after this horrid experience I was charged an exorbitant amount which was considered a discount for my troubles. Do not waste your money !! read more

I had reached out to several area moving companies to move my stuff from a 1 bedroom apartment in Northern VA to another 1 bedroom in DC and had received several comparative estimates of 3-4 hours. Unfortunately my first two choices were not available on my move in day so I reached out to Nova Movers and they were available. I had filled out a spreadsheet listing out my big items and gave them an idea of what to expect. My quote was for 3 hours so I expected that the move would take roughly 3 hours, maybe 4 if there were any hiccups. What I did not expect was for my 3 hour move to turn into 6 hours! After all was said and done I reached out to the owner to express my frustration and disappointment with the service and the gross miscalculation of how long the job would take. Amine's response was that the 3 hours was NOT a quote but an "example" of pricing structure, despite the fact that I requested a quote and the email I received said it was a quote. I was given a lot of generic responses about the move being "reasonable" and "efficient" regardless of the bad weather, long hallways, elevator, loading dock, etc. There was no bad weather, my original apartment was on the first floor and very easy to access, the second apartment had sole access to a loading dock and freight elevator which was about 15 feet away from the apartment. Basically I could have moved my own stuff faster with my bad back, by myself. I also wouldn't have to be subjected to the movers asking me several times if I was married. As a young female, this is definitely not a question you want to be asked by older men who are in your home, moving your stuff. Amine was not very understanding about the gross underestimate they gave me and only after mentioning that his movers were inappropriate did he offer a small refund. I expected better customer service given all of the issues but was extremely disappointed. It's been over a week since my last email with Amine and I haven't received any more correspondence so I cannot recommend this company at all after giving them the opportunity to make it right. The service itself was slow, inefficient and not professional. They will not give you an accurate quote and will tell you that what they gave you was a pricing estimate. I wouldn't hire them again- the owner wasn't trustworthy. Amine (owner) acted super nice and understanding at first, but there's a very dishonest side to him. I kept thinking this guy must thrive of the time-pressed, naiive Thumbtack users. I feel like an idiot for using him, I should've researched instead of trusting my referral. Here was my long story experience: I worked with him to pick a date and get an estimate. He was very kind during all this. However, soon after, I hinted that I was thinking of working with cheaper, comparable moving company that I found that reached out to me after him and he instantly got extremely upset and yelled over the phone, "Fine! But you owe me $100!" Confused where he got this idea from, I explained I never heard about this, signed anything, or agreed to any such charges. I honestly didn't know what he's talking about... The story should've ended there but I still needed a mover bc the cheaper one I wanted was booked.. ... Despite my reservations, I stayed with NovaMovers. Amine made sure to get my credit card number immediatelly after that conversation to ensure he could charge his $100 fee if things went south again (Again, without my authorization and nothing in writing). The whole way it was done felt shady at best. #knowyourrights From there a wide range of things occurred. My friend used him and thought his movers were great (which is why I used him). I agreed the movers were really good which was a blessing but when it came time for the bill, Amine muddied the waters again. At the end, over the phone Amine asks, "cash or credit?" I said "check." He said that he can't take checks (even though he let my friend write a check). So I said, "Weird (sigh)...Fine. Credit." Next thing I know... Amine hits me with an additional $30 charge to use the credit card without telling me until after he's charged the card. Terrible. Best wishes for him. I called 2 days before move-in and the owner stated that he was too busy to send me a confirmation, and that I will still be charged $100 after I told him that I no longer required his services. I cannot recommend Nova Movers enough. They did a move for us from DC to NYC. They arrived when promised (on both ends), they wrapped all of the furniture and other items, dismantled and remantled the bed and other furniture and even helped pack the wardrobes that they provided free of charge. Amine, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. He responded to all of my emails extremely quickly and did everything he promised. Nothing was damaged and I have to say this was a fabulous and seamless move all at a fair price. I received and email from Amine saying 2 men for $65/hr and 3 men for $95 and a one time service fee of $100. When I called to verify over the phone, not committing because I was verifying a couple of places just to compare. Then after calling around my spouse called to set everything up and we were moved while I was at work. Then a month or so later I am filing a pile of papers on my desk and notice were were charged $99 an hour and a $200 service fee. I called to inquire about why and the called went to voicemail, as I was leaving a voicemail I get a phone call back so I answered it and got greeted with a lot of laughter and background noise...VERY professional . This time on the phone I get told there are multiple levels of a service fee for different numbers of guys, and the extra $100 might have been for it being "out of range" or for "a washer or dryer or something like that". I specifically asked because I remember citing the "No hidden fees or charges" I received in the initial email...so now I'm getting contradicting information; and we got charged $300 for a washer and dryer so it seems that nobody knows how or what is going on for charging and numbers are just roughly pulled out of dark places, and it just happens we got shafted and I regret not going with "Two Marines Moving" like our roommate did, they were WAY more professional and organized who really do operate on a NO HIDDEN FEES OR CHARGES and we'd be supporting our troops. This was my second time using NovaMovers to move within Arlington, and my most recent experience was every bit as positive as the first. I was told that the movers would show up between 8:30 and 9 am, and they showed up at 8:30 on the dot (and would have been earlier, were it not for my hard-to-find address). Ronald and Omar handled even my heaviest boxes easily (and with great care) and had everything unloaded (about a one bedroom apartment's worth of stuff) at my new place in under two-and-a-half hours. We used this mover because they had good reviews and gave a lower estimate than another company. Never again would I use the services of this company. This was my worst move experience ever. As I wanted the most accurate estimate possible, I requested an in-person visit to assess what was required for our move. I showed Amine everything that needed to be moved, including opening the closets and showing him the storage space. I also told him that the distance from the elevator to the apartment we were moving to was much greater than where we moved from. At that time, then on the phone and again by an email, I stressed the need to complete the move by 5:30 P.M., as required by the building. When I received the estimate for providing two movers, I questioned whether two would be enough since four movers did our previous move. He assured me two were enough. Not only was I charged over $400 more than the estimate, but since they did not finish until 7:30, I had to pay $150 to the building for going way past the time permitted. Because they finished so late, they did not finish putting all the furniture back together. Also some items were damaged, but that was ignored in the mover's response to my emails. I contacted Amine on the afternoon of the move to say I was worried the movers would not finish in time, since they still had not moved everything out of our apartment. I also let the movers know about the time deadline. He should have sent additional help when it was clear it was needed. He did not send 2 more men until around 5:30, when they were supposed to be finished. Not only were two movers not enough for timely completion of the job- the truck was too small to fit our belongings. However I was not aware that they did not move everything they were supposed to move until I returned to the old apartment. The movers did not tell us how much they left behind. We had to make several trips back to our apartment to get everything for which the movers did not have room in the truck. I requested, at minimum, the $150 I had to pay for the elevator late fee, not to mention if I had gone with the previous company, they would have done the job correctly their estimate was less than I ended up paying. I received $100 refund- not enough for me to give a higher rating. read more

Horrible! Two tiny men showed up two hours late in a beat up truck and barely spoke English. The quote said free packing supplies, use of wardrobe boxes, and TV box, which were nowhere to be seen when they arrived. They didn't wrap any wooden furniture even after I asked them to several times. They could barely lift any of the furniture and were banging it against everything. For moving alone I would give 5 stars. Amine, the owner, also offered a move-out cleaning service and since my husband and I were so happy with the way his company handled our move, we hired them again. Big mistake. I'd have given 1 star if this was a cleaning-only review. One cleaner showed up over half an hour late, and the second cleaner, who I never saw, was at least 2 hours late. The next day, when I went to the TH to check the job, I saw that it was not complete. I emailed pic's of the cleaning shortcomings to Amine. He said it was because our TH was in such poor condition that the cleaners could not get it any cleaner despite working all day. So, my husband and I spent 3 hours on it the following day and fixed all the problems I emailed about plus a few more we discovered later. I would still recommend this company for moving, but stay away from them for cleaning! read more

They took the time to understand what I wanted packed first, as I was giving a couple of things to my mom who was just 5 minutes away. The quote that I was given was very accurate.
