I used Bulldog Movers for a local move recently and was 100% happy with the service. I reached out to a few places for quotes and Serena responded quickly with an estimate and a clearly explained breakdown. The estimate was in line with the other companies I reached out to but they were the only company that provided a time estimate, and that was really helpful for me to feel like I could truly get an idea of my likely final cost range (assuming I didn't add anything major to my moving list). Booking was easy and done entirely online and then via email and text message for confirmations. My movers were Luca and Alpha. The called about 40 minutes before the start time to let me know their ETA, which was actually about 10 minutes before the arrival window started so we were off to a great start. Moving day is always nerve-wracking and adding strangers into the mix can be unpredictable, but they both took the time to introduce themselves by name and were so polite, kind, and calm right off the bat that it was a huge relief. We did a quick walkthrough of the house and they asked for clarifications or more information at times, which was great because I felt like they were really listening and paying attention to my comments and concerns. Then the move itself was smooth and uneventful. I didn't have any concerns about my furniture because I saw them wrapping everything up securely. At one point, a screw came loose from one of my table legs. Alpha found me to ask if I knew about any issues with the legs on that table. I told him it was a second-hand table so I wasn't sure, but asked if it was a big issue. He said no, and that he could put the screw back in, but he wanted other make sure I knew it had happened. I know that's partially because they don't want to be blamed for something they didn't do, but I still appreciated that they called it to my attention right away so there weren't any issues or questions later, and that he was able to fix it for me. Once we got to the new place, they took the time to ask where I wanted specific furniture or boxes to go in my new place so that I wouldn't have to move it all to a different room later. They wrapped up just a little ahead of the estimated time and it was super convenient to pay with Venmo. All-in-all it was a great experience and I'd use them again if I'm moving in the area. read more

Overall, BullDog Movers were very good. My move was not huge, but I needed a lot of help packing. The movers handled it efficiently. I had one issue with the frankly crappy reassembly of my captain's bed. When the movers left, the bed was bowed, drawers would not close completely and the slats were falling out or not fitting in at all. I reported the problem to Serena and it was corrected promptly. A crew came and reassembled the bed to eliminate the problems. Finally, Serena is the best. She is responsive, knowledgeable, friendly and very easy to work with. I would recommend this business almost entirely as a result of the superior service she provided. read more

As I read all of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I have to wonder how I could have had the experience I had. Could I have avoided the stressful outcome I endured by just asking them upfront if they would move all of my boxes? If they would stay on the job until it was finished? It may sound silly to ask this of a moving company, but read on. I'll start by saying that the three men who handled my move were mostly professional and careful for the eleven or so hours that they worked. Also, I significantly underestimated the number of boxes I had to move. Serena was very helpful when I initially contacted the company. I provided an inventory of my belongings and some photographs and she worked out a quote that was agreeable. On moving day, her team showed up on time. They were all personable and receptive to my requests. By early afternoon, the moving van was filled up ... but there were still about a hundred boxes in the old house. Suppose the new house didn't have enough room for everything? I asked if they could help me take the remaining items to a storage facility. They pointed out that by the time the van was unloaded, regular offices hours at those facilities would be over. The new house was about a 20 minute drive from the old house. I left in my car and the movers left in their van at around the same time. I arrived at the new house expecting them to be right behind me. For quite a while, they didn't show. I tried calling them but they didn't answer. After about 45 minutes, they arrived. They took a break for lunch. That's fine. Why didn't they just tell me? I labelled each of my boxes with the name of the room where I wanted it to go. For the most part the movers put the boxes in the correct rooms. However, the next morning I could not locate my toothbrush, razor, and a number of other items so I had to purchase replacements. They also dented a wall when moving the couch. They compensated for this by deducting a credit from my total bill. Sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 pm, the men had finished unloading the moving van. The boxes were distributed fairly evenly throughout the house and there was still free space remaining in each room. The team leader started preparing my bill, so I thought they were done for the day. I settled the bill and anxiously tried to figure out how I was going to get the rest of my boxes moved. Was I going to call another moving company? Rent a cargo van? Over the next week and a half, I made ten trips, usually after work, from my old house to the new one, squeezing as many boxes as I could into my little sedan. I finally got the last of the boxes moved. Not fun for an old guy with a bad back. The entire episode left me exhausted and wondering if somehow things could have been handled better. A few days after completing the second stage of my move (and nearly two weeks after the first stage) I received a voice mail message from Serena. She wanted to know how things went. She already knew there had been an issue with me having too many boxes for one trip because one of the movers had called the office on the day of the move to advise her. In her message Serena said that the office was currently closed for a holiday but that I could call her on her dedicated line. Unfortunately, she didn't realize that her line had been switched off for the holiday and was not accepting messages. A day or two later we did manage to connect. Serena was careful to ask me just a few general questions so as to avoid suggesting that anything had been handled improperly. At the same time, she wanted to know what had happened and what options, if any, I was given. I eventually told Serena that none of the movers offered to make a second trip to collect the rest of my boxes and I believed that was because they did not work after 8:00 or 9:00 pm. Serena assured me that sometimes they worked past midnight. They keep working until the job was done. Except in my case. She also agreed that the three men could have moved the last set of boxes within 90 to 120 minutes. Serena told me she would discuss the matter with the movers and get back to me. But I never heard back from her. I still don't know what to make of this entire affair. I work in customer service and I use all of my resources to ensure the all of my clients' needs are fulfilled. That's what they depend on my for. Of course, if I knew there was an option of making one more relatively short trip to complete the job, I would have gladly taken it. The company would have gotten more money, the movers would have received larger tips, and I wouldn't have faced the ordeal of moving a hundred boxes a dozen at a time by myself. Ouch! read more

This company charges you to pay. They charge you 6% to pay your deposit and 6-10% on the total cost of your move. I was quoted $660, I paid the $100 deposit and expected to pay $560 on moving day. I ended up paying $770 on moving day for a total of $870 moving from a 2- bd room to a 3- bd, both on first floor. Due to the movers not breaking down furniture properly, I ended paying for an extra 30 minutes. The moving team I had was Frank, Danny, and Jonathan. All three of them were a bit careless... walls were scratched, ceilings were scratched, marked up and dented, and Jonathan carelessly dropped a moving dolly on my flower pot and broke it. The move was from one building to another, right next to each other. Frank was professional but spent the entire move taking apart one bed and then re-assembled it in the new unit, at least he wrapped the mattress and dresser before moving it. Danny and Johnathan did not wrap anything, not even the other two mattresses before moving them and damaged the mattress cover of one of the mattresses. A day bed was left to the side for the duration of the move only for the movers to go over time dis-assembling to re-assembling after Jonathan and Danny scratched the walls attempting to put the bed in a room. I feel the time overage was strategic. Towards the end of the move, Johnathan was just throwing my belongs in the closet or stacking things in places they weren't supposed to be placed. This is after Danny ask "ma'am will things go in the same spot in the unit", and I replied yes. As I stated Frank, Danny, and Jonathan were polite and Frank was professional but I wouldn't recommend this company, nor would I utilize the services of this company again. read more

Bulldog helped me load up a trailer for my international move - a kind of pod moving service that I'd never done before. They helped assuage a ton my fears, because right out of the gate they knew what I was in for and what kind of services I'd need (and they were right). Luca and Donald showed up right on time and did fantastic work on the move, which had more than a few foibles (having to cross the whole building, dealing with multiple security doors, some stairs, and getting rained on...plus our elevator was stolen). Luca and Donald maintained a positive attitude and a good sense of humor throughout. They worked through the problems, got my stuff loaded up, protected, and tied down, and even helped me set in the trailer bulkheads before leaving. i appreciated all their help, and I was glad to have met both these gentlemen. This is our 3rd move with Bulldog movers in ONE calendar year! My daughter moved from her student housing to a studio apartment in a high rise near American University last June (AMAZING- on time, lots of stairs over to a garage with loading dock and elevator- easy load/unload and right on the estimated budget!). Then we needed to move her from her apartment close to school in to a storage unit right after the holiday season for her semester abroad- again...on time, efficient and this time under budget on the quote including helping my daughter access a stuck rolling door and an empty storage facility with nobody there to assist her on a very cold day. Her phone was dying and they even helped her charge her phone and get back to her temporary accommodations. This time she went from the storage unit in to a house she will be sharing for senior year- smooth, on time and crazy good! Helped her move a few heavier items a couple of times in to place before they left and I got a discount for doing so many moves with them in a year, so this was our cheapest move yet! The office staff is amazing- super responsive and great at estimating. The movers are kind, professional and very efficient. This is our second time asking for Bulldog Movers to help us with a local move and they continue to impress. The three person crew arrived early in the given window. They were careful with our things, communicated for clear direction in putting things where we needed them, disassembled and reassembled a handful of furniture items, took care of donation and disposal for things we needed to let go of, and worked super efficiently. After a not so great experience with another company, we decided to take a chance on another moving company and boy are we glad that we did! Their estimate was very competitive and they were able to accommodate us within less than a week after I decided to cancel the other company that I worked with previously that was gouging me and had a bad experience with on the last move. After looking at over 10 different companies for moving, we went with Bulldog Movers.
