This afternoon I stopped in to redeem a spafinder gift certificate at this newly opened massage parlor in the same complex as the movie theater by the court house. May was my masseuse and she was fantastic. She kept telling me how tight my muscles were and then proceeded to magically transform them into stretched out rubber bands. Love. I will most definitely be back...especially since I can walk here and won't need to hassle with parking. The only constructive criticism that I can offer is that they could definitely stand to warm their massage oils. It was shocking every time she applied any. read more

I really liked the massage! It was a Groupon deal. Scheduling was easy and I really appreciate how fast they answer their calls comparing to some other places I've been to. Went there 15 mins early, front desk was nice and asked if I want any extra service. She spoke decent English. I did not do any add-ons. It is worth noting that I did not fill in a form, but she did ask me if I have any injuries and any areas I want focus on. She communicated my answers to the therapist in their native language. The massage itself was awesome! It was mostly silent except check-ins about the pressure and instructions to turn over. I prefer people who don't try to keep talking to me. The pressure was really firm (I requested firm) and my therapist Mary worked hard on me! I really enjoy all the deep pressure. It's also a full 60 min massage comparing to the 50 or so mins somewhere else does. Tipping is cash only though. They have some opening specials going on. read more

Wonderful massage and an excellent value. No frills--so don't expect purple orchids everywhere like at the Mandarin Oriental or a glass of champagne on arrival. But who care about that--this place is clean, nice, and my massage was fabulous. I like that you can easily book online, too. I heard nice spa music and a trickling fountain during my massage--no outside hallway noise, which is awesome. I've been to a couple of other places in the neighborhood that are more expensive and yet you can still hear people yapping in the hallway or near the front desk (I'm looking at you, Azure). So my therapist....passed wind. Twice. I understand it happening once, but when you're lying on a table with nowhere to go it's awkward. I also had to ask him 3 times to massage harder. I usually love massages and I was actually going to ask him to stop and leave because it was uncomfortable rather than relaxing. Everyone else seems to have had a great experience so maybe I just got my masseuse on a bad day. But between the gas and the awkward rubbing, it wasn't a relaxing experience. read more

The massage was pretty decent, especially given the price. My only issue was with their practice of spending a solid 6-10 minutes of rubbing/pressing you down over the sheet. This happened the first time, I asked the front desk staff to tell the therapist that I didn't need/want this (to translate), and it still happened again. Nice ambiance. When asked to fill out the questionnaire there was a question about pressure. My friend and I both asked for light pressure and today we are sore to touch after telling both of the masseuse's that it was hurting. Masseuse Mary was told by the front staff of my problem area and she got right on the spot, using the same techniques as my physical therapist. She was able to understand further about my foot pain and worked on it, too without the help from a translator. I paid the same amount as my insurance co-pay, plus the tip, but the entire experience included so much more of the trimmings, was enjoyable and a lot longer than a normal doctor's office visit. Do not confuse this place with 'ballston therapeutic massage' I went to the ballston location and had a horrible experience so was skeptical to come here, as I think this might be a sister location. But with the Groupon I gave it a try and I am glad I did. it was a completely different experience. This morning my husband and I booked a couples massage at Courthouse Therapeutic Massage via a Groupon deal, though it was our first time here it won't be our last. We had a really great deal with the couples massage but were excited to find out they have some options for future massages at the same rate from Groupon and even cheaper options which is nice to know for future visits if you're looking for a place to go often or more than once. We both really enjoyed the total package of this place from the location, the decor and rooms were really nice, it didn't look cheesy or cheap, to the massages themselves. They also provide extra services to your typical massage like aromatherapy or hot stone. We will definitely be back! read more

Mary the massage therapist was great. Her use of pressure was good and she got lots of knots out. It's one of those places that says they can do any type of massage you want which I'm not sure is believable but I enjoyed my massage from Mary as she hit all the knots. The reason for the 2 stars is that I take issue with how they treat your privacy. I had a 1 hour massage in the room right by the front entrance. If the door to my room is open the people sitting in the waiting area could get a clear shot of me. Several times during my massage an employee or employees opened the door and went to another connecting room that says employees only on the door. I was lying face down and down to my underwear so I couldn't see who it was. I told the front desk receptionist about this afterwards and she seemed to laugh it off and half-apologized. I don't think she thought it was a big deal. Also, space is new and clean but in the room that I was in there was definitely some noise like a rattling you could here coming from above. It wasn't completely distracting but if you're one of those who expects total silence or no distracting noises, this room or place might not be for you. read more

Probably more deserving of a 3-star review, but i think the current 4 1/2 star average is a bit too high - I am pretty convinced that they ignore your intake sheet, and give the exact same massage to everyone. I had explicitly noted my problem areas, indicated that my purpose for a massage was for recovery and repair, and not merely for relaxation, and even where on my body i have even had previous injury... but I didn't get a "is the bed comfortable? Is the headrest too high/low? How's my pressure? What are we working on today?" or anything of that variety. my tense areas were actually barely addressed. occassionally she would do the odd tapping thing where she is basically clapping different parts of my body, which i'm not too sure have much therapeutic benefit. ultimately all i got was a generic massage dispersed across my whole body. The main pluses were that, (1) to be fair, the massage itself wasn't too bad, had i gone simply to unwind, (2) it was pretty inexpensive, compared to other places in the area, and (3) the receptionist was pretty cute. Aside from that, i might recommend people consider another option if you're looking for anything specialized. read more

I used the weekday Groupon this last week and was very impressed. This place is superclean--you can smell the bleach on the linens. Masseuse Annie worked on my back, shoulders, and neck which have been severely knotted up for almost two decades. I had tried to see a movie at the nearby AMC Courthouse, but they were having an issue with their alarms, so they cancelled all their shows. Wandering nearby I found the Courthouse Therapeutic Massage shop. They were having a great deal on massages due to their grand opening. It was half-price for a 90 minute massage. I had been having some neck and shoulder pain and figured I would check it out. I told them about my issues and the masseuse started in right away finding knots and kneading the heck out of them. The pressure was firm, but she consistently checked-in to make sure it was not too hard. I am sore right now, but it is a sore that means that my muscles were worked in all the right ways. I will still come back here after their half-price deal ends because this was one of the best therapeutic/trigger massages I have had. I would recommend people to check this place out. read more

The worst service and even worst massage. I was greeted to a aggressive receptionist who demanded pay even prior to service and ended up with sore muscles and hives at the end of treatment. Very nice staff but too vigorous massage style. First of all Yuna was so sweet and kind. She is the perfect front line person. If you like the deep elbow in your muscles and intensely firm pressure then I recommend because they are clean, friendly, and it's a beautiful massage salon. However I urge caution if you like the Swedish massage or a traditional deep tissue. I had a lot of tension and the massage was not soothing or relaxing. It hurt! It was the most painful massage I can recall getting (and I get a lot of professional massages). I asked for less pressure (rare for me) and Linda, who was my masseuse, said when there are firm knots she has to be even more firm. She was definitely at war with my muscles! lol. And I appreciated that effort but I am pretty sure I have been told by other massage therapists that when you have a lot of muscle tension too much pressure can make it worse. But I went along with Linda's methods (I'll try anything new at least once). Now the next day I am more achy. In some areas my muscles feel relaxed but in the areas she went hard core I am so tight and wound up! Much more than before I went in. Also I tried the cupping for first time. No complaints although fair warning there is mild/numb pain with it. But again they were all lovely. I will see how I feel after a few more days. Maybe this style is pain before relief. There are ways to state it nicely but she chose to state it her way. I have been there for 3 or 4 times and liked it. The place has massagers mainly from Mongolia and China. My best experience was seeing Mía who's Chinese and was first trained to massage in China. I don't know if it's because I am Chinese myself, but I could tell that her strokes are different from others and worked just right for me, she could find exactly the points where I have muscle knots and she always ask clients where they need more care. THE WORST SERVICE you will receive in the area. I was greeted by a rude receptionist who, after my massage was over, claimed that I never told her about my groupon. She then proceeded to tell me that they don't accept expired Groupons and that I would have to pay an additional $20 towards the massage, despite paying $68 for the groupon in the first place. I explained that Groupon does not work like that-- you can always redeem the amount you paid. After arguing, she told me that the 60 minute groupon I purchased would only count for a 15- minute massage. After paying, she had the audacity to ask me to leave a higher tip (I paid a 20% tip already). The service was HORRIBLE and the receptionist was incredibly rude. I will never ever return & I urge you not to go either. read more
