I did have implants put into my lower jaw because that lower denture is famous for sliding around in your mouth as the ridge recedes that it needs to grip. Implants snap into matching "snaps" inside the lower denture securing it FIRMLY in your mouth!! It's a life-changing experience!! The ability to chew again?? Priceless!!

I knew my insurance would not cover but really had no choice. I set up the appointment and went to see Jim and I am so glad I did. The office is an old house that he obviously bought to run his practice. It's kind of homey and made going to the dentist more like going home if that could ever make things easier. The doctor is about my age and loves to tell stories about ice fishing. I had the initial exam and he was confident he could help me out. There was no negotiation on price, however, I felt that if it had come down to it, he would had helped me financially. No novicane, no gas, no nothing. 2 hours later, I have a post and a temp crown. No problems. Then on to day 2 yesterday. He removes temp and cements a new crown. Easy peasy. Hoping it lasts a lifetime. I love the spittoon and mouthwash. I'm old school when it comes to washing out my mouth. Again I can't say enough about the service here. If I had insurance, I go to Jim for all my dental care. What a fantastic experience.

So my two kids, wife, and I had his service from fall 2016 to early spring 2017 after in gave them my insurance info. Dr goodwin and Brenda is very nice: HOWEVER... We kept getting these bills that finally racked up to $1500 following my visit in early spring. When the bill reached to the $1500 I contacted my ins rep if anything can be done for them to cover it as in-network. They said no and if I would've found an in network dentist that 99% of service is covered 100% from fillings to exams to crowns and etc. When Brenda asked if we're gonna pay the bill following my visit, I asked her how this is racking up. She said they do not cover pompco and that their service is out of network :( My wife was the one bringing our two kids for service and when I asked Brenda if she told my wife about being out of network, she nodded her head with a yes. Now again, she's a very nice lady and the service was good but if my wife heard someone tell her my insurance is not covered she would've remembered something of this nature and told me to find another dentist, as we were struggling and in the processing of buying a home. So I think anyone hearing something like this would've stopped this service especially if it's out of network So my recommendation is if you pick Dr Goodwin make sure you ask if they are in network and service is covered. I first started at Shoppingtown Dental reluctantly because of the "mall" reference (don't let the name put you off... it's not even in Shoppingstown just near it!) but the office was close for travel and took my NYS retiree insurance... up front. I have found this office to be exceptional in terms of insurance billing and pre-approvals (thank you, Pat!) with appointments kept right on time or very close to it... none of these "we're running an hour late.." Most importantly, Dr. Simlote is .... very skilled, very gentle and kind, and very concerned with your well being as he works in your mouth (confirms all is ok as he goes).
