This is a great place to spend time at the range. They give you an hour to spend in your designated lane. The staff is super friendly and informative. Once you get registered you get a lifetime card to use there as your member id.

I went here for the first time last week and was very impressed. The range is very clean and well put together with a pleasant and helpful staff. I arrived right behind a group who were there for a birthday party but the staff greeted me quickly and got me squared away. With these guys, it's safety first - They have you take a short test before going to make sure you know how to handle a weapon and I counted three range safety officers who kept an eye on things. I finished shooting all 100 rounds of my ammo then thought, "where did the time go?". I would highly recommend this range to any amateur or pro shooter.

Great folks . Very safety conscious. Clean facilities and being the only gun range for many miles is often packed. Great facility.

Great staff solid range and if you do the math for the yearly membership it's like $25 a month. No problems with this place whatsoever

Ask the Community - NRA HQ Shooting Range

Do I need to book in advance or it is a walk in range?

Don't know if you can reserve lanes but I've never had any issues walking in to get a lane.

Are tourists allowed to shoot in the range?

Yes, tourist are allowed. Just note that the NRA range does not rent firearms. You have to bring your own.

Can you shoot as a tourist? Btw im 16?

Only if you have a firearm and an adult with you. They don't rent guns.

Is draw firing allowed ? if not, is there anywhere where it is?

You can move the rolling table, and practice from the holster. Another good spot for this is Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly. They are a bit more relaxed for folks that know what they are doing.

    Do they permit bump stocks?

    Yes, if appointments are made

As an avid clay target shooter, finding a place to go (besides my gun club) was important, since my club doesn't have a Sporting Clays facility. A few people told me about Bull Run, and I visited for the first time back in October. I was impressed with the facilities. The county government runs the spot, and it is nice and clean! Pricing is fair. If you don't have a gun, you can rent one for an additional fee. If you need shells or bring shells that violate the rules of the range, there are boxes of shells you can buy on the premises. The one drawback I personally had thag doesn't directly affect me is if you bring someone who's never shot before, they will be required to do a mandatory safety course. The course isn't terrible, and my friend who has to do the safety course said it was very insightful. But if you don't have to do the course, but a friend does, you're gonna be waiting a hot minute before you guys can shoot together. Nevertheless, as someone certified as both a shotgun firearms instructor and an RSO, I value their commitment to ensuring everyone at Bull Run is safe.

really great staff! Ive been a few times now and the facility is always top notch. I recommend…read moretaking a course or two if your a beginner.

It's close to my home (30 mins which isn't bad when you're in DC Metro region). 2. The facilities were incredible -- multiple archery ranges, a air pistol and rifle range that has produced a few Olympic athletes and often used hu the local schools air gun teams, a catch and release pond for fishing, campgrounds often used by the Boy Scouts in addition to members, a rifle and pistol range, and my personal fav and the one I use often (besides the archery range) is the trap/skeet fields. 3. This chapter is very involved with the community. From the aforementioned youth groups like Boy Scouts and HS air gun teams often partnering to use the facilities, to the wide array of educational courses offered throughout the year. They also hold other events like an annual picnic for people with disabilities, partnering with Fairfax County as a one location to do your archery test for the Fairfax County Parks & Rec Deer Archery Program, sanctioned ATA, NSSA, and USA Archery tournaments, and NRA Women on Target. When you join it'll be expensive as you pay the annual dues + the initiation fee. But as long as you keep up to date on the annual dues you won't have the pay the initiation fee again. You don't get your full range badge, which allows you to bring guests with you, until you complete your 6hrs of volunteer work. It's not hard and there's plenty of volunteer ops you can sign up for online. I was able to knock my 6hrs out pretty quickly. And if you do an additional several hours of work after getting full range privileges, you'll be able to get a discount on your annual dues next year. I've been to all but the air gun ranges and each facility is lovely. Everyone that is a regular is also nice so just come in with the right attitude and you'll have a fun time.

The rifle/pistol and skeet and trap facilities are very useable. The indoor air rifle/pistol facility has hosted several international matches and produced one Olympic Gold medal shooter and one other member of the Olympic team. It is the local site for the area high school teams. I shoot once a week and serve as a RSO once a month at the rifle/pistol range. The controlled rifle/pistol range might be a different environment for shooters who have frequented public ranges that have few safety controls and rules, but IWLA a much safer environment than I have ever encountered on public ranges in the area. My wife and grandkids were always welcome and enjoyed their time at the rifle/pistol range.
