I went to this shop as I heard some good things even if it's a bit further from me. I wanted a new 9mm for my collection and they did seem to have good stock in both new and used. Ammo sale was great though so i did stock up. I wanted to update my review. I gave this place another try since I was in the area. Again, I stocked up on ammo for such a great price and this time everyone was so energetic and helpful. Even if it's out of my way and almost an hour drive, I will for sure come back for any gun related needs. Plus the sales they have are great! AVOID Trojan Arms. I pre-paid for an expensive target firearm and then could not reach the business for weeks. Repeated phone calls went unanswered, emails received no response, and the shop was closed when I went in person. My friends even tried calling several times - it was so bad people told me they thought I'd be scammed. After three weeks with no communication and well over two dozen unanswered calls, I filed a credit card dispute. after more than four weeks or trying to reach them they finally picked up. They claimed they had tried to contact me. There was no call record, voicemail, or message. When I later picked up the firearm, I was told they had called the wrong number. Less than 24 hours after picking it up, they called and threatened to report the firearm as stolen unless I provided proof that the credit card dispute had been dropped. They are obviously unaware that responding to a dispute is the merchant's responsibility; they had not bothered to respond to their own bank's dispute inquiry. Of course, I contacted the card company and they were shocked at the lack of professionalism and the lack of understanding how to deal with a dispute. I spoke with a friend who is an attorney and he told me I have a nice lawsuit if they besmirch my name with a false accusation. Even if you have to pay more - avoid these guys. Absolute nightmare. read more

I deal in customer service and taking that into consideration when I go to Trojan, I know 95% of what I want. For me the feeling is great and though I don't know anyone by name except Christine who walks me through my ATF forms with kids gloves every time and displays patience that could easily be frustrating with the number of forms that I'm sure she processes on a daily basis. My questions are answered completely and we as consumers also must do or due diligence because as a certified firearms Instructor, I know how a question can turn into a class. With the popularity of firearms, most stores could be considered understaffed by a customer who needs a lot of instruction. I've been treated fantastic, whether at the gun show or in the store. Walked into Trojan Arms & Tactical ready to make my first handgun purchase, but apparently, I didn't get the memo: you need a beard to get noticed in this place. As a clean-shaven, office-dwelling Asian guy, I might as well have been invisible. I even made direct eye contact with the staff, and I swear one of them gave me the "who invited this guy?" look before heading off to help a dude who looked like he just walked off a Viking ship. And it wasn't just one staff member, oh no--all three of them were huddled around this one guy who was obviously about to buy the coolest AR-15 they had in stock. I get it, the ARs is shiny and impressive, but does it really take the entire tactical squad to sell it? Meanwhile, I was standing there like a lost tourist for five minutes, trying to decide if I should grow a beard on the spot to get noticed. Not a single person bothered to ask if I needed help. I guess the tactical uniform in this store is flannel, a beard, and an intense stare at firearms. In the end, I walked out empty-handed, feeling more like an extra in someone else's action movie. So, if you're bearded and about to drop serious cash, this is your spot. If you're clean-shaven and just trying to buy a handgun? You might want to try somewhere that's a little less 'beard loyalty program.' read more

They do exist. That gives them one star. They have guns. That gives them another star. Everything else is terrible. I hate to give two stars cause the employees are generally nice, but the younger females are obnoxiously entitled and seem extremely inconvenienced by your presense. God help you if the owner is around. He's the worst. Like a carnival barker. Doesn't want to help you. Wants to make you feel dumb and cheap. DO NOT FFL TRANSFER TO THEM! They take random days off and make your transfer to them take 3 or 4 days longer than it should take. Show up for your transfer and do your background check and get ignored. No one cares that you're there. Finish your check and try to check out. Get a huffing and puffing teenager checking you out that doesn't know anything about guns/ammo and hates her job. They're far too successful for how they treat their customers. Ive used them for years and it has been a worse and worse experience every time I go there and I'll never go there again. I only used them as an FFL after my last terrible purchase from them directly. Now they close on a random monday and my transfer is now delayed 3 days. I've never seen a business so entitled to treat people like trash. Aside from my transfer and purchase experiences, the store looks like a carpeted garage. It's trashy looking. They have almost everything you're looking for. Ammo. Guns. Pistols. But, at what cost? Being treated like cattle isn't ok to me. I'll vote with my wallet and never give them a dime again. read more

I have purchased several firearms from Trojan Arms, and my son was a repeat customer from the gunshow in Manassas (formerly Dulles Expo). In the past we've had no complainants with Trojan, and were always a good experience. My son purchased a Glock 19 at the show. He spoke with the rep for a while prior to the purchase, and did so as a Virginia resident. Now before I get to far in weeds, have to say he's young and probably learned a lesson on paying attention to detail with this purchase. Trojan sold him (Virginia resident) a Maryland compliant Glock 19 (tan) with three ten round magazines. Once he was home I noticed the magazines only held ten cartridges, and not the standard 15. He took the gun back to Trojan and hoped they would swab out the 10 round mags. for the 15. The assistant behind the counter said that wasn't going to happen. Just a heads up if your buying from Trojan. Looks like they're getting ahead on VA's new gun / magazine ban early, so inspect your purchase carefully. read more

Be careful what you ask and what you get. Called to ask how much a firearm transfer was, I was quoted at $25. I transferred 3 firearms, and the bill came to over a hundred dollars. When I questioned why, was told it's 35 for rifle transfers and 25 for handguns. When I told them I was quoted 25 for a firearm transfer I was told we figured it was a handgun. Well, I figure there are too many other places to support with my money than trojan arms. Which when you think about it is a perfect cover name for a bunch of pricks. read more

A friend recommended a store to me for its extensive inventory of firearms and ammunition. Residing in Ashburn, VA, I opted to visit the establishment to procure ammunition and potentially explore firearm options. Upon arrival, I was impressed by their inventory and found the salesperson, whose name I'm unaware of, to be exceedingly helpful, knowledgeable, and amiable. Following my selections, I proceeded to the cashier, Natalie, and paid the requested amount of $561. Upon returning home, I discovered an overcharge of $106. This prompted me to contact the store the following morning to request a refund over the phone. Natalie, upon my call, requested a copy of the receipt via email, which I promptly provided. Approximately 30 minutes later, upon contacting Natalie again, she requested my credit card information and informed me that I must visit the store to receive the reimbursement, citing unspecified reasons. Expressing my inconvenience due to residing in Ashburn, I suggested that the store offer reasonable incentives for their mistake. Regrettably, Natalie declined. Subsequently, upon my visit to the store, I received the refund, but my attempt to escalate the matter to the manager was met with resistance. Despite my inquiries, I received no information on the manager's availability and was refused direct communication with them by Natalie. Disappointed by the lack of apology and accountability, I am troubled by the cashier's inability to handle the refund over the phone and their disregard for the inconvenience caused, which amounted to two business hours and associated expenses. Additionally, the absence of managerial oversight raises concerns about the store's operations. Growing up in SE Texas/SW Louisiana I soent a great deal of my time hunting and sport shooting. After college I joined the USN and spent quite a bit of my time using small arms and other weapons platforms. After leaving the navy I went to the civiliam market and never fired another firearm for nearly 35 years. Having recently retired and looking for something to do I joined a few friends at the range. That decided me to get back into the sport. Since last December I have purchased several handguns and rifles , recovered a shotgun given as a gift on my 16th birthday, and sent a few thousand rounds due range. I said all this to explain a bit where I'm coming from when I say Trojan Arms is where I found the best deals in the area as well as a friendly and helpful staff and excellent customer service. What more could one ask for? -No long, slow lines like Cabela's where is takes days to get a firearm and paperwork done. -No long drive on i95 to to Richmond to get to Green top. -Best prices in the area. This place will be where I will make most of my future purchases. You should try them out and see for yourself, I'd be stunned if you don't have the same experience. Man. What a disappointment in customer loyalty or service. I've spent a pretty penny (10k*) at this store only to be insulted and borderline disrespectful with the offer they would give for guns that's never been fired. If said two gun retail over 2200 plus tax and a 3-6 month waiting period (staccato). And the other is out of stock and goes for 1600 before tax. How did you find it even reasonable to offer 1750 for both. Both have not had a round through it. Not to mention I bought the PTR there. There's too many other gun stores around here for me to ever come back to this location for anything. read more

Updating my review for this place... I'm not sure if it's COVID fatigue or just terrible employee hiring. Went in there twice over the past two weeks. First time the guy was fairly friendly talking to me about a gun I was interested in. Wouldn't let me buy ammo unless I bought the gun. (Only wanted 1 box of .45) so that dropped a star from my 5 stars. Go back in again and ask the kid if that was the cross. His answer was yes and walks away from me. Then I heard him being all winey about another customer that was calling in. Realizing he wasn't interested in working and knowing there are 10 other shops in the DMV area. I happily went somewhere else and spent even more money than the cross would have been. Got a gun, ammo, red dot, and magnifier instead of just the cross. So I can't in good faith ever suggest this place again. At least until he's gone read more
