I got my "mini PhD" in Cerakote and parkerizing online after purchasing an older Colt 1911 on gunbroker, which had its fair share of weathering and "idiot scratches" on it. Their rep hit me up right away here on Yelp, and I made the drive a few days later to look into a Cerakote finish for my latest handgun conquest. Pricey for sure but my word does it look like a brand new firearm. I'm taking my wife's P22 there soon to get some fun color but the regular gunmetal finish I got for this Colt really is impressive. Cool little shop too, and I tbh I did enjoy some of the responses from the owner to a handful of digs on this platform too haha. More SBO should be this genuinely engaged. The gunsmiths at Sterling Arsenal are the best! I just had them do a barrel swap for me on a vintage, 1928AC Thompson SMG. A risky thing to do on a WW2 gun, when the metal is pretty old and the barrel has been in place for decades. But I had work done by Sterling Arsenal before and I was confident they could do it without harming the Thompson upper. They did it flawlessly! I'm so happy with how the job turned out. Horrible customer service. Poor communication. We gave them a call about selling a nice gun yesterday upon a friends recommendation (he had only done business over the phone with them) and after giving them a thorough description over the phone they told us to bring it in so they can take a look. We drove an hour plus to get here and upon arrival the man (who could barely be bothered to look up from his phone to greet us) at the desk asked us why we were there and when we told him we had called and wanted to sell a gun. He rudely said he wasn't interested and that they'd "already bought enough guns this week" before he'd even seen the thing. Definitely will not be returning here. A brief edit: upon reviewing the replies to previous low star reviews (wish I looked at those before going), it looks like this place has been going downhill for a while and they don't mind being repeatedly rude in responding to anyone criticizing their experience here. It also seems he has a knack for editing comments after realizing he was giving a few different stories across platforms (my review was also posted on google - which was given a different story / response to what was originally commented here). Since my last review for you, I came in and looked at your suppressors and also asked for an HK SP5 which you offered to order for me but at an wexhorbonent price. Since then I've bought two suppressors (in the pipeline for ATF approval) and the SP5 (all three in your wheelhouse) all SP5 ~$2500 and suppressors $+-1000 but gave my business to your competition. You're just are a miserable business to deal with! BTW Thanks for proving my point since my last post on 11/05. Maybe you should leave this "over-priced spoiled rotten region" as you called it. Their only downfall might be how long it takes to get your firearm back but it is well worth the wait. The armorers that are employed by Sterling Arsenal are extremely talented and skillful at making any number of customizations that you want done to your firearms. Additionally, they have a selection of customized firearms for sale in their shop. The front office staff are also highly knowledgeable and are able to effectively communicate the amount of time that it will take and estimate the cost for whatever you want done. They're have a no-pressure take to business and won't tell you anything that you need to do. Had them install some sights on a glock slide. 200 rounds later the front sight post had backed out and is close to falling off. $40 to put on some sights that were purchased elsewhere and they couldn't be bothered to do it right by putting some loctite on the screw. Another great transaction today. I bought a firearm from another VA resident and while the transfer didnt need to go through an FFL, the seller insisted. I contacted Luis who told me to come on in and lets make the transaction. After arriving onsite, Luis performed a quick inspection (at no cost) per my request. Excellent recent experiences with a pistol repair and several purchases. What stands out is professionalism and depth of knowledge. Repair/restoration projects are initiated by an e-mail from the gun owner; Luis responds to accept the project or not, and a file is created which runs through completion. This is a workshop not a place for passing time -- task-related focussed questions get thoughtful responses. It works better all around for customers to make smaller purchases on-line and pick them up when notified; bring your receipt and the handover takes 2-3 minutes. I'm surprised with accusations of over-pricing. They have lots of items priced lower and/or unavailable elsewhere. read more

Was seeking a 18rd mag for my mk25 and MD being a top notch stickler regarding mag capacity, I had to ship my mec gar to Sterling Arsenal. Wasnt there long, but upon being buzzed in, I was impressed with the layout, although a smaller store, they seemed to have everything youd need. I ended up grabbing my mag along with a 50rd box of sellier and bellot 9mm (appx $19). All in all, good experience, guys working there seemed friendly and professional. I drive an hour to this place and it it totally worth it. Luis, Dave, and Mike were all very friendly and helpful. They are knowledgable about many different facets of fire arms, modifications, and the legal requirements(for multiple states). Their show room has a lot of great stuff. They have a great inventory of mags and components as well as an even larger online inventory that can be shipped to the store. I had to wait for my background check and they have very comfy chairs for you to hang out in while waiting. Bought my first milsurp rifle. Great condition, but had some pitting on the barrel. Online searching looked like it would be ok. But being a newbie to milsurp I wanted someone to reinforce that, so brought to Sterling Arsenal. The one guy and the gunsmith were both incredibly friendly and welcoming. Looked at the pitting (told me it was fine) and spent a few minutes giving me a few pointers on other things to do. No air of superiority to a newbie, as laid back and nice as could be. And then when I asked what the cost was (after all I was asking for their expertise) they said, "nothing"! (As opposed to another gunsmith in NOVA that told me he had a $50 minimum to walk through the door). So I told them the least I could do was give a glowing review.
