Not knowing any of the massage therapists, I simply chose one at random and lucked out with Marcus Kelly, a recent graduate. He was kind, professional, and had that easy Maritime way with conversation. We consulted on some stiffness in my neck and shoulders and he set to work. I had a wonderful experience and emerged feeling lighter and more flexible. He also gave me good tips about my posture. One thing he mentioned - a pro tip, if you will - is that if you book a massage with him at the Westin (the same company operates both sites), you get access to the pool and the gym also! She's excellent at what she does, and offers a clean, safe, relaxing environment. Soft music, gentle lighting and a fireplace on the wall - all make for an awesome experience! I booked myself a 1hr Deep Tissue Massage with Melissa ($120) and had a great experience. Melissa was very thorough in explaining her techniques and ensuring that I was always comfortable with the amount of pressure. I like a lot of pressure, so that it really feels like my muscles have gotten their knots worked out. Melissa wasn't afraid to use a lot of pressure (I find some RMTs almost seem scared to do too much) and I appreciated that. Once the massage was done, she reminded me to drink lots of water and to apply heat if possible. She said that I would feel like I had a workout the next day and possibly have some bruising. She was right - I did have some bruising, but my muscles also felt the best that they have in a long time. Definitely worth it and I recommend Melissa if you want a lot of pressure in your massage. She was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. As for the massage room itself, it was dimly lit with soft relaxing music and it was clean - pretty standard. What was a nice touch though was that there was a heating pad on the table that I could lie on to stay warm in addition to a sheet to put over me. This clinic doesn't do direct billing for members of the Public Service. I think they do for other plans. There is plenty of free parking and Mavericks Donuts is walking distance if you really want to splurge and get yourself a donut to pamper yourself! ;)

When I finally got in, she made me undress and lay on the table for about 10 minutes while she disappeared to go eat lunch. When she finally got back after using up 10 minutes of my paid hour, she informed me that she did not do full body massages. I reminded her about her agreement with me in writing via email, but she flat out refused. After refusing to give me the massage, she explained that she only works with people in pain in specific areas and does not do full body rubdowns. She began doing all sorts of treatments on me to avoid massaging me. There were suctions cups all over my back, when I got home I was badly bruised. She pocked and prodded me, pinched me. She would do this and watch the expression on my face in delight. Ingrid has a really good reputation, but many of the reviews are from friends and family, they are not honest reviews, she can be very devious. She explained to me in her own words that she does not do massages, even after agreeing to it prior to the appointment. She keeps saying how great a masseuse she is, and this means she doesn't have to give massages. I could hardly believe my ears when I was laying there on her table and she was refusing to massage me. She still charged me, but I never got a massage, instead she argued with me insistently, insulted me, told me I didn't know what I wanted, I should want something else, then she told me repeatedly that I should go somewhere else, then she tried to insinuate that I was not getting along with people. This person is down right nasty. Don't waste your money, this woman is not interested in giving massages, which is down right weird for a masseuse. She was very arrogant because according to her she knows what you need and she's not interested in what you want, even if it is just a massage. She's a bully, rude, insulting, and disrespectful. All I got was a bunch of treatments I didn't ask for and I didn't want. I just wanted a massage, but she would not give me one. How strange is that. I generally like my massage a little on the "harder" side and the pressure was great. Sara even asked several times if I wanted to change the pressure. I can't wait for my next appointment with Sara!
