Went here for the first time to dye and cut my hair. Yohayne (the owner) really listened to what I wanted and did just that. I like how she explained step by step was being done on my hair. The vibes in the salon were great. Everyone was super friendly and sweet, they went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable constantly asking me for coffee and if I was ok. And they played music and had really fun vibes. So although I was there for a couple of hours it was ok bc of the energy in the salon. It's based by appointment so I was attended right away, but depending on what you get, prepare to spent a significant amount of time there. I saw girls that were in and out fairly quickly. But those that were getting some type of dye applied to their hair were there with me for quite some time. It is a little on the pricey side but I think that's ok bc I'm a firm believer in getting what you pay for. So the results and the service was def worth the price. read more

After recently moving from Florida, I struggled to find a salon that I could call home. I knew once I arrived at Nu Style in Elizabeth that I was at home. Celine was very welcoming and took the time to address my concerns. Based on her feedback, we decided to go with highlights vs bayalage and focusing on improving the health of my hair. Words can't express how beautiful the final product was. This is the best hightlight/bleaching service that I've ever received. Celine is definitely the master of color. I used to love this salon and I've always contemplated on leaving this review, but the last 3 times I've booked with Yohane was not like before. When I first came to Yohane I had very long overdyed black hair and she did an amazing job restoring my hair and I even paid less than $250 for that. Now...last time 3 times I've came, I've asked for specific color just for Yohane to throw me a book and say "pick a color from here" and none of those were the ginger I asked for. I even made sure my hair was prepped and ready this time for the appointment. Then I also asked not to lose any length in my hair because I do not like short hair, but still she cut my hair way too short that once I got home I was sobbing, not to mention I paid $400+ for a color I didn't ask for and haircut/ short hair I also didn't ask for. I'm naturally a socially anxious person so I try to confront the owner via email but she said "supplies are more expensive now". But still I don't think that justifies a hefty $400 + tip price. I'm sad to leave this review but I think I'll go to another salon now. read more

Although I love my hairstylist, she has been booked months out so I had no choice but to research and book elsewhere. My Bayalage had grown out a ton, I wanted to go lighter, my hair is thick and I have a ton of it so my mane is no easy task. I showed the hairstylist a picture of what I was looking for and after giving me some education on the process, she started to work on me. When I tell you at the end I was so impressed with her work that I wanted hug her. They were so nice and knowledgeable, I expect nothing less of anyone will be touching my hair. read more

Let me start here.....I love this salon!!! I had ugly brown reddish brown hair and I went in wanting to be a blonde and I got my blonde! My hair color came out so bomb and gorgeous!!! Too bad I can only give five stars because I would give more if possible. The owner is a sweetheart and so professional. Same for her staff!! She cares for your hair. The place is super clean as well. I came from NYC on NJ transit and it's only 4 stops from penn station and a quick $8 ride unless u rather walk for about 15 minutes. Today I was there for hair cut and blowing I told the person who helped me I wanted the same style but shorter and I showed to her a picture when I cut shorter I had my style for three years and I really didn't want loose it because took years to get. She couldn't do I came home with my hair style destroyed She charge $35 for the cut and $45 for the blowing In Jun I went to do the same to a different salon in Elmora Ave the person did wha I asked for and they charge less than Alf price I wanted to try Nu because I can walked an didn't have to get a rid but was a big mistake Never ever again I go back read more

Gave one star because there isn't anything lower. Made my appointment for 7/7/22 at noon with Celine. When I arrived I told her and showed her a picture of the pixie style I wanted. I was surprised when she said she could not do it because she doesn't use razors or equipment necessary to cut such hair style. I drove quite a distance to get to this salon, so I asked her to do basically a trimming which she did do with a pair of scissors. I showed her yet another picture, but still, she cut it too much, which is a no on curly hair. Paid $35 for a cut which looked like an amateur did it. Don't know if the other salon in Union is of the same caliber, but this one in Elizabeth is bad. Don't go there. read more

Celine is the best hairstylist I have ever had. My hair has never been so straight and has never looked as healthy and shiny as it is now thanks to her. Other salons keep me under the dryer for 2 hours at least but Celine gets my hair done in less than an hour and it always looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The entire staff at Nu Style Salon are extremely professional, polite and friendly. They even offer you something to drink and take your jacket upon entering to enhance your comfort. There is no other salon in New Jersey that I would choose to go to. They deserve 6 stars but Yelp only gives 5. read more

Don't waste your time with an appointment they just ignore you. went in for a cut and color and ended up with a crappy paint job with a patch from the test strip still on my head HORRIBLE! They forgot about the cut entirely and when I said something they just continued to blow-dried my hair and dry cut it leaving most of the split ends and not asking how I part my hair. This is a family owned business. It is a Unisex Barber and Salon. The place is very well maintained and decorated. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They speak mainly Spanish, but they also speak English. It gets really packed during the weekends. The best days to go are during the weekdays. If you want you can call for an appointment. Parking around is metered but only until 6pm. The Barber Noel is really good with the haircuts. And the Girl owner is also good. They both give their 100 percent into their job. I have been coming here for about 4 years now. And this is my first time reviewing them on Yelp. This is a nice place to come and get a haircut. They also do Manicure and nails. I only three stars because they could use another Barber to help out. Noel does a great job but He might need some help on the peak hours. Over all I recommend this place. read more

I came here for a wash, condition, blow-dry and flat iron. It was just an "ok" experience. I don't mind how my hair looks after she was done but my only complaint and its a big one was the washing. She didn't really wash my hair. If a customer is still scratching after you are done there is a problem. All she did was wipe the shampoo in and I do mean "wipe". She didn't scrub for more than a second which was very frustrating. I know some people worry about scrubbing too hard but she didn't scrub at all. She also didn't wash it for very long either. She put it in, wiped it down my head and then washed it out. She was very young so that might be the reason but I am not sure. The blow drying and flat ironing was fine but I think I need my hair washed again. read more

She was able to achieve the exact look I was going for and took her time to explain the entire process. The other employees are great as well. Not only are they all very professional, they are all also very sweet. I'm happy to say I found a new hair colorist. Anyone looking for a new great salon should definitely go to Nu style!
