Really didn't like my experience. 1 - My hair was cut way shorter than I wanted. 2 - The owner was trying to upsell me some unnecessary hair botox treatment, which I clearly didn't want. I was also getting my hair dried and obviously couldn't hear her but she kept trying to upsell me, it was so annoying. 3 - I just hate the results. I felt so uncomfortable and I have honestly never hated my haircut more. I feel like look like a rag doll with short hair. Omg. Can't believe this salon was right by my hotel. They were amazing. The sudden warm weather and peloton classes were making my hair limp. So I needed a pick me up. I generally like deep conditioning for my hair. I have frizzy Indian hair which is thick and curly. No matter how much I shampooed, my hair was losing lusture and smoothness. I called them in the morning and got an appointment for the evening. I had a speech soon after that so it was so great to get an appointment on time. The salon is small. But the staff is just amazing. They are so welcoming that I didn't feel I went there for the first time. We talked so much I felt I have known them for years. No one has given me such an amazing blow for couple of years now. I'm from Connecticut and feel bad that they are not near Hartford :( but now I know where to go to when I'm in New York. Ira is just perfect, from her expertise in hair cutting and highlighting, and just an all around pleasure to be around. There is never a long wait and all of the ladies there are kind and efficient. Hair Botox, which I had never heard of, helped my hair grow and shine for months, as explained by Nika. I'm now 25 going on 35..I wish I was joking. my beigey blonde hair has been turned GRAY with what is a very ugly dark root base??!! (ummm I went in to LIGHTEN my roots...now I look like I have 3 months of regrowth....) the owner was not very helpful or apologetic when I expressed my grievances. she simply told the girl to retone it .. which merely resulted in the very dark brown color being lifted to a god awful REDDISH BROWN.. and my blonde is still gray. it's muddy, it's ugly. I specified I wanted to be VERY blonde..highlights and a tint between(high lift color/bleach with tone at the bowl.. NOT a dark root shade!!) like the rest of my hair, hello.. on top of it all they took 0 accountability for what they did to my hair. it'd be one thing if they could actually own up and admit to the miscommunication issue, offer a sincere apology or discount perhaps???!! instead all of the workers came together to try to convince me my hair looks good...ummm.. lol just shows the entire salon is not to be trusted, honestly. seriously, avoid this place like the plague. This was the absolute WORST hair experience - a total disaster! I came in for an ombre / balayage color. I showed the stylist pictures of exactly what I wanted. I emphasized that I wanted my hair to look natural and did not want bright blonde streaks. Four hours and hundreds of dollars later... I had horrific blonde streaks in my dark brown hair. It did not look natural and it was exactly what I said I did not want. When I saw my hair I was in total shock. I was very late for a birthday dinner that I was hosting so I had to run out. I put my hair in a high bun and tried not to think about the color. When I got home and looked at my hair again I was devastated. I work a corporate job and could not go to work with the hair color. I called / emailed / texted the salon and no response. This occurred on a long weekend. Thankfully, I was able to go to a different salon and they were able to fix my horrible hair color. When I finally spoke to the owner of the salon she refused to refund me for the hair color that I expressly stated I did not want. She said that I did not complain right after the fact so I clearly didn't hate it. That is absurd and incorrect. I received a service that I did not want and should have been reimbursed. This is the type of unprofessional conduct that causes people to contact the better business bureau. The owner offered to fix it... but only days after I had to fix it at a different salon because I could not go in to work with such a horrific color. -------------------- To respond to the response below: 1. I am not Amanda - so the entire response likely does not relate to me. 2. I did not text you prior to my appointment. I called to schedule the appointment. 3. Just moved to the city about two months ago and have been on the hunt for a hairstylist for my hair. I'm very picky and took the time going to several salons for consultations and decided on this one. I met with the owner (stunning tall blonde woman) for a consultation two weeks ago and she quoted me an extremely reasonable price for my full highlight, glaze, haircut and blowout. I made my appointment and arrived yesterday. Upon arrival, a different stylist was tasked to do my hair than who did my consultation, which made me nervous. I confirmed with her the price that the owner had quoted and she said yes adding an extra $10 for Olaplex, no big deal. The process was seamless. My hair as you can see looks stunning. I am so happy with the results - HOWEVER- when the time came to pay- my total was 2X the amount I was quoted in my consultation!!! I thought this was extremely awkward and unprofessional since I had come in for a consultation and confirmed the same quote with the new hairstylist before she even put any product on my hair. I understand hair takes time and money especially to become this blonde but I wish there had been some more price transparency given that I had put in the time to make sure that everything was what I thought it was. They even charged me $30 for doing the olaplex "three times" but this was never communicated to me??? I guess I would recommend the salon however I would make sure you know exactly what you were paying for. I'm not sure I would have gone knowing the hidden charges and price and will definitely confirm with them again before coming back in the future. I got a blowout at L'Envie earlier this week for an event. My hair looked beautiful and it was a fast and professional process. I couldn't have been happier with how it looked (and it photographed super well). The style held for two whole days, which was also a pleasant surprise! Nika was very accommodating of my request/reference photo, and she checked along the way to make sure I was comfortable and that I liked how it looked! She even came in at 8:30 a.m. to do it, which I really appreciated. Very clean and pleasant salon, as well! I would definitely come back here again! The price was very fair -- I have medium-length, thick, wavy hair, and the total cost of service before tip was about $55! I got so many compliments! I don't think the person who washed my hair...has ever washed someone's hair before. I came in for a first appointment with Nika based on yelp reviews....I had recently cut ties with my prior stylist, who I felt had stopped understanding that my head is attached to my body, and it is the only head (and therefore, hair) I have to wear right now. I came in with an extremely grown-out and shapeless former bob. Also, with photos of what I wanted Nika to do for me. She took one look at my photos... and firmly suggested something else. I was a little taken aback, but in general, I like to trust stylists. I have never gotten good results by trying to micromanage them. I felt like she knew what she was doing, and that is why she was not thrilled about what I thought I wanted. I trusted her and am so glad I did! She spent a lot of time telling me about what she was going to do. She showed me photos of what she had in mind, even talking about the overall silhouette of the style with my body and face type. Then she got to work. She had a VERY light touch -- cutting just a tiny bit off here and there. She recommended a centered part (I have had a side-part for years). She told me I needed longer hair, not shorter. It was all...kind of the opposite of what I expected! But, the end result was really gorgeous. It has been a few weeks now, and this cut has grown out beautifully, too. I actually think it looks even better now that it is slightly longer (she had cut it so that it could grow out well). I can wear it styled (messy/beachy), or down straight and it looks cool either way. I have natural gray that I love, and she did not try to sway me to dye it, which was amazing. Instead, she gave me a cut that made it look it's best. I really felt like she took my hair seriously, and also gave me a great cut for my face shape. It is clear that Nika loves what she does, and has incredible focus. This experience was completely new to me -- but definitely made an impact and I feel now like I have a partner in making sure my hair looks fantastic. Also - just as an aside-- I'm so glad l'Envie has images of shorter cuts on their instagram. Many salons only show long, dyed, curled "Barbie Hair" looks...and most of the women I know wear gorgeous chic styles that are more effortless looking -- seeing the shorter styles in the mix helped me feel confident to book my cut.
