PLEASE READ BEFORE THINKING ABOUT USING DR. NUBY. This Review would have been zero stars but that impossible to do so. Don't know where to start. We are new patients with Nuby. My wife went with our son for the first appointment. During which, my wife had weird vibe from Dr. Nuby, and insists that I go with her on the next one to see if I get the same vibe. She stated that Dr Nuby attempted to give my son a hug, which my son thoroughly disliked. Doctors SHOULD NOT be giving kids hugs at the end of the session, especially kids that were new to him. We arrive for the second appointment with our son at 12:40 for an 1PM appointment, on a Thursday By 1:45 we are still waiting in the waiting room. The nurses doesn't seem to know what is going on. There hasn't been a patient that went back since we arrived and the waiting room got packed after us. It's absolutely ridiculous and there was no reason Dr. Nuby should be running this far behind. Also, I should add that both waiting rooms are dirty and needs a cleaning. There are two separate offices which are across the street from each other on Elm St. They tell their clients to cross Elm Street, sans crosswalk, which is a heavily used road. It is very dangerous to be crossing the road without a crosswalk. We ended up leaving just before 2PM due to another appointment that we had scheduled across town.. We were needing a script filled for my son who has been on the same medication for a over a year. We needed this script filled due to my son leaving on vacation for Christmas vacation, which is 3 weeks. My son did would not have had enough meds to get him through the vacation. The office staff stated that they would take care of it. As Friday went on, we attempted to call the office, left messages, and had zero replies. We even called the pharmacy to have them send the refill request to Dr. Nuby. Through the weekend, we were very worried that Nuby would not fill the prescription, again, for a medication that my son had been on for over a year and a half. Dr. Nuby had ALL of the previous medical records. On Monday, during business hours, after my wife said she wasnt able to reach anyone at the office, I went into the office and spoke with the office staff that stated they would have it filled. They were shocked to hear that the script had not been approved by Dr. Nuby. Raquel stated that she sent an "urgent" message to Dr. Nuby, and said that he would most definitely give us a call that day about the prescription. I wasn't shocked when Dr. Nuby failed to reach out to us on Monday. At this point, my wife called her old doctor in Kansas and told them our situation. They said that if Nuby wouldn't fill the prescription by Tuesday, that they would fill it again since our son was going out of town on Thursday. I went in again on Tuesday. The same office staff were concerned that Dr. Nuby had not returned any of our calls. One of them said she would walk me across the street and have Dr. Nuby or the office manager talk to me. I ended up having to wait in the waiting room and then one of their back offices for about 20 minutes. FINALLY, Dr. Nuby came in. There were no "hellos". No pleasant greetings. All he said was, "We need to talk." Then he proceeded to accuse my wife of screaming and yelling on the Thursday when we "left our appointment EARLY" without being seen. Mind you, we had waited over an hour and left at 2PM, our appointment was at 1PM. Then he had the audacity to state that he was in with a patient that had told him that they wanted to commit suicide ( HIPPA VIOLATION!!!), and that there was no way he was going to leave that patient to take care of us. At the end of our "conversation", which mainly consisted of Dr. Nuby accusing my wife and I of being a terrorist to his office staff, Dr. Nuby said - "Maybe its time that you find yourself another doctor. I don't need people like YOU in here." Take that for what you may...... Thank you Dr. Nuby. Thank you for allowing me to highly discourage ANYONE in the Denton Community to steer clear of your practice. Thank you for showing me that you are highly unprofessional and outright rude to your so-called clients. I would recommend that if you have a child that you truly care about, do not take them to Dr. Nuby. We will not be coming back and will be switching doctors. We should have read the reviews prior to choosing Dr. Nuby, which I highly encourage each and every one of you to do so. read more

My wife and I have been taking our son to this location for 2 years. Yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back . The front office staff is always rude and doesn't even try to hide the fact that they don't care. They messed up our appointment. Causing us to wait a hour. Then when they claim we're ready to be seen, they put us in a room for over a hour. Until we finally decide to leave . The front office staff explains to us that they are currently changing staff, so that's what is causing the delay . When we ask how much longer , she says soon and looks away. If you can, do not take your kids here. The doctor and nurse are great. But the front office staff is horrible . read more

The front desk is horrible and rude. They don't care how long the patient waits because this is one of the only places in Denton to take CHIPS. The office doesn't care about the patients they care bout getting people in and out. It does no good to complain to Dr Nuby because his wife/fiancé who is very rude and part of the problem. They can't figure out calling in or refilling prescriptions and it usually takes multiple calls to get the ti fix it. Avoid this place if you can. I'd drive 50 miles to another pediatrician to avoid taking my kids here again. read more

If I could give this pediatrics office negative stars I would! The WORST customer service I have ever received, staff is horrible from the front desk to the billing team! The billing team does not know how to verify insurance, therefore will try to charge you out of pocket for cost that your health insurance covers fully! Admins are too lazy to give you referrals when the Doctor orders them, and will ask you to find them yourself, then they will find your referrals if you prove not be able to. In all ,my life when a doctor refers you out for further evaluations it is same day, it took this office weeks! This office does not care about your children. On top of ALL that, their schedule is only open enough to be seen for wellness checks, not when your child is actually ill, they will have to wait weeks or find another provider rather than see the provider they are use to. My fiancé and I had our first child two days ago. Within the two days, Amber, the scheduling clerk has completely just ignored every single call and message we have left. We have called over 12 times trying to get an appointment for our newborn. For such a reputable business you'd think they would have better service. The staff at the new location is lazy, rude and don't know how to do there job. The women in the front office don't know how to answer the phone and state there name. they ignore phone calls and don't return voice messages I left three and it's been a week in a half with no phone call return. when I finally get through and stated what I needed they keep saying can you hold for one moment and hang up the phone or they lie and say "they will have the paper works I need just wait tell we call back" and they don't and when I call again to see what's going on they act like I don't know what I'm talking about and then they say hold on then hang up again. Me and my husband had to just pop up there they tried lying to him and tell him they didn't get the phone call I hid on the side and call watch the phone ring and them playing in the both and not picking it up smh. Also they are very uneducated about certain medical forms that schools ask for that they need for school. on top of that every time I do call and get through they can't find my daughter file. unfortunately looks like ima have to find some where else to go cause the women in the front office don't care at all. read more

The only stars given will be for the incredible care of the PA. She listened to my concerns and let me conference into the visit when my son went with his dad. With that said, kiss any same day appointments goodbye. Lord forbid your kid is sick or gets sent home from daycare and needs to be seen asap. Might as well find an urgent care clinic. The office staff is TERRIBLE. My child's father and I have been hounding these people for our referral from November WITH NO ANSWERS. No one returns voicemails or emails. I've left messages at the front desk to no avail. My son needs these referrals to clear urgent dental work. How hard is it to send a referral or return a phone call? They also never authorize refill requests from the pharmacy so forget your kid getting their necessary medication! My son was completely up-to-date on immunizations at his prior pediatrician before moving to Denton. However, this practice says he is missing one in a series of shots. Yet anytime we go in for the shot or call they never have the shot available. They also don't let us know prior to the appointment that they still do not have the correct immunization available. I chose this practice because I was told they are natural minded friendly. I have finally given up on this office and transferred care to cook children's. I am one irate mom and I will get my child the referral he needs within days instead of months. read more

This office has been very hot and cold for me. The doctors are awesome. My son is 2, and in those 2 years I have seen Nuby, Erwin, and the nurse practitioner Kelly, who is also fantastic. They are kind of they speak to and address my son directly, which comforts him hugely. For the doctors and assistants I give 5 stars. The only issues I have had have been with office staff. Last year my son was prescribed antibiotics for a severe UTI, and it took 3 days to get my prescription filled even though I kept calling back and my son was clearly in pain. My son also has a disorder called urinary reflux, and in the initial stages of finding this out, Dr. Erwin scheduled for us to have an ultrasound of his kidneys and then a VCUG only if necessary after the ultrasound. To be clear, a VCUG is a procedure where liquid is inserted up the urethra and into the bladder so that they can film the liquid going through the bladder and kidneys and tubes on ultrasound. It is a painful and uncomfortable process, and Dr. Erwin had agreed with me to only schedule the VCUG for my son if it was absolutely necessary due to abnormalities in my son's ultrasounds. I then get a call from another office attempting to schedule the VCUG before and without the ultrasound, and it took me 3 days of arguing with the Nuby office staff to even get an ultrasound scheduled and they refused to directly contact or put me in contact with Dr. Erwin. Unacceptable and ridiculous. Not to mention anytime I have needed shot records faxed, they have just straight up not done it. Even after multiple phone calls. They have separate well and sick waiting rooms, which is an awesome idea, but parking in the lot is a nightmare. Better know how to reverse and turn in tight spaces and hope other people do as well! I stay with them simply because of my love for the doctors, but I seriously wish they would improve their office staff because without them, I would have given this office five stars. read more

It's an older office, and it's not very clean. The newer building across the street is better, but still no toys, or anything to keep kids entertained while you wait forever to be called back. I've never been there for less than an hour and a half for a simple check up. They're always behind, leaving you waiting in the room for AT LEAST 45 minutes. Parking is terrible too. read more

The two stars are solely for the medical practitioners. It is clear that they care, and are professional and helpful. There is nothing negative I could say about them. However, that is only part of the experience I have had with this office. My son originally was seen here because he was on Medicaid the first year of his life (2014). That year, the office seemed to function okay. I was able to schedule appointments with ease, and had no problems with the office in general. The past 2 years, though, have been awful. We have no longer had Medicaid for 2 years, and have really good insurance, and I'm not sure whether that is a coincidence. The office "lost" an antibiotic prescription sending it to the wrong pharmacy, and promised to deal with the issue and call back while I called frequently, leaving messages, talking to staff, driving to multiple pharmacies, and, disappointedly... I ended up having to drive to the office to pick up the prescription myself to hand deliver it to the correct pharmacy. My son missed 2 1/2 days of his antibiotic because of unfulfilled promises over the phone. The last time I called for a sick appointment for my son, they told me that the first opening they had was in three weeks...for a sick appointment? Maybe we are low priority because we are no longer Medicaid. I would hope for that not to be true. Now, in trying to retrieve medical records, I was told it would be done within a day, and I have still not received a call. I have called and left messages and spoken with staff that could not help me. It has been 3 days. I will go into the office to see if they are ready, and likely still be waiting on a phone call. It seems the practice is too big and perhaps staff is too overworked to function well. I understand that a doctor's office can be busy, but tell me the truth. Tell me that you have too many patients to truly show that you care, or to help us in a timely manner, or to get my son the prescription or appointment he needs to get well. Please don't promise things that won't happen. We will be moving to a smaller practice where the medical and office staff have a proper staff:patient ratio so that they are able to show that they care. UPDATE: I finally got my son's medical records...and included were also the confidential records of ANOTHER patient!! Seriously?? This makes me all the more confident in changing pediatric offices. read more

I can't express how much we love Dr Nuby along with Dr Irwin and their amazing nurse practitioner Dr Kelly. Dr Nuby is and has always been so friendly and has such an amazing energy. There has never been i time I came with my two kids who are now 5 and 8, that I didn't feel heard or understood. He takes his time along with th other Drs mentioned, to visit, treat, and diagnose all while making it a pleasant visit for both mom and kids. Dr Nuby has been my kids pediatrician since birth. There are previous reviews with front desk issues which I also did experience but they have new office management it seems because I was able to make an appointment one day for later that day, realized I wouldn't be able to make it, called back to cancel and reschedule for the next day without any issues which I was happy about because I do remember the rough time I used to have before. I'm glad that Dr Nuby made this change (thank you, seriously because that was my only issue ever) A few weeks ago we went in and saw Dr Nuby for my son and I realized I should have also made my daughter one while we were in the room. He came in, immediately remembers me by name and my kids names (it's been a year since we have last seen him) and embraced them with hugs which my kids felt very welcomed by. His process to treat and diagnose is very uplifting. He makes my kids feel safe, heard and understood. We also have had many chances to visit with the nurse practitioner Dr Kelly who always takes her time to make sure that i had the chance to ask any and all questions and reconfirms the treatment plan (if any, we have also seen her for check ups) and feel confident in understanding how to take care of my sick kiddo at home. Last but most certainly not least, we also have had the pleasure of visiting Dr Erwin across the street in the behavioral clinic. This environment is extremely relaxing to be in, especially with my son who she treats with adhd. She gives so much advise as to how to work on an issue at home, how to change behavior patterns, identifying certain characteristics, and even goes as far as giving book recommendations. I love that she has doesn't push for medication, quite the contrary. She offers information on recent studies and up to date info to better assist not just my son but myself. Too often do we see an issue and other drs may just treat the symptoms but not look further as to why the symptoms are even there to begin with. She, along with Dr Nuby and Dr Kelly treat the whole person. The staff now has also helped me in making same day visits when my kids do get sick which is a huge deal since they know us and it's much better than going to urgent care, tho they do recommend one, I haven't had to go because I've always been able to get in. I have recommended them to so many in the Denton area as well as surrounding communities either in person or Facebook forums. You will leave feeling confident on how to help your child be happy and healthy. I really hope this helps anyone looking for a pediatrician! They are great! I promise! read more

The medical providers are wonderful but the office staff is rude and incompetent. They argued with me over what kind of insurance we had. They didn't even know what private insurance is. Kept insisting it had to be through my or my husband's employer. Instead of taking the information and verifying with the insurance company which they have to do anyway, they kept arguing with me about it. Spoke to two different people. It's like they thought I was lying about it. What would be the point of that? Before talking about the insurance, I had difficulty even making the appt. The person didn't even know how to do that. I love the dr and nurse practitioner and have continued there despite ongoing difficulties with the staff but I think it's time to look for someone else. read more

Two stars only because Dr. Nuby is so friendly to my child. This is the main reason we have not left so far. Office is so unorganized, especially dealing with prescriptions. We lost a prescription and they would not replace until a month later because it was in their words "illegal to replace" in less than a month. Verified with Texas and there is no such law, so called the office and told them who I talked and how to replace the prescription. But then it became "office policy" instead of "illegal". So I let it go and went another doctor for his prescription because it is a medication my son can not go without. Still liked Dr. Nuby and decided to keep seeing him. But yet again something else has come up, we have to go to the office every month for my son prescription which is usual for this type of medication. Office will not let you call prescription in until 48 hrs of last pill. It is past 48 hrs and keep hearing we will get back with you. So my son is not going to have medication for tomorrow. Can not deal with this every month. read more

Nuby Pediatrics is awesome. Dr. Nuby has been both of my children's doctor since birth. My son loves him; he looks forward to seeing Dr. Nuby everytime we go to the office. Even my husband and I look forward to seeing him as well. You just can't help but smile when you see a wonderful doctor who cares so much and loves your children, all children. The front office staff is nice. We've never had an problems with our insurance and paperwork there. All the rooms are decorated in themes from the frog room, the sports room and the Scooby Doo room, just to name a few.There are even two seperate waiting areas; one for sick kids and another for kids who are not sick, which is reassuring since sometimes we are just going in for a simple check-up. Dr. Nuby is not only a wonderful doctor, but a kind person as well. We are very happy with him. read more
