I found this place on Yelp, obviously. A little further south from my office but that's ok because I planned in advance to go. The place is very busy at lunch for people who were sitting down but more than half the crowd was drinking beer. The line experience was quick and they give a good amount of food for the money. I paid $8. I wish they had more than one choice for chicken but other than that it was great!

Met some friends here for what was supposed to be a quick meeting and a beer on the west side of Hialeah, now called Hialeah Gardens. I was really surprised how cheap everything was on the menu! $2 Coronas! It's kind of a bit of upgrade from a dive but the place is really clean and the staff was really extra nice. This is a Dominican spot so I went in and had the Monfongo with Camarones. It's gotta be one of the best morongas I've had in a long time. I will definitely be back soon!

Unfortunately, the service has been a huge disappointment the last two times I've visited. As you can see from my photo, the restaurant wasn't busy at all, so there really wasn't a reason for the delays. We sat at our table waiting for someone to take our order while our waitress continued helping other tables and never came to ours. It wasn't until I asked for our server that she finally came over to take our order. After that, we waited nearly 40 minutes for our food, and when it finally arrived, most of it was only semi-warm. The only dish that came out fresh and hot was the steak tostones, which were delicious. Everything else, including the other entrées and sides, was lukewarm and honestly disappointing. What makes this even more frustrating is that this wasn't my first experience like this. I had previously visited with a friend and received the same poor service and semi-cold food. I decided to give Yarumba another chance by coming back with my daughter, hoping the first visit had just been an off day. Sadly, nothing had changed. It seems like the staff spends more time talking amongst themselves than checking on customers or making sure food is coming out promptly. Good food and a fun atmosphere can only make up for so much when the service consistently falls short. At this point, I don't see myself coming back for dinner. If I do return, it would only be to sit at the bar for drinks. I truly hope management addresses these issues because the restaurant has a lot of potential.

First things first...I found this place on a random Sunday morning, and was like heyyy this is great, why don't I go here for breakfast to have some Dominican breakfast...it was like 10am..come to find out they don't open until 11am. Cool, maybe I'll try them some other time. The next evening, I decide to go back because I saw on their storefront they sell chimi's...I pull up, all lights are off. It's Monday, they're closed. Fine. This past Sunday, I try for my very last time...3rd times a charm, right? Wrong. This time they're at least open!! I see on their storefront that they have sancocho, so my mom and I decide to go in. As soon as I walked in, I found it very odd that there is no music or tv playing. They could've been playing a little bachata or merengue, come on...ambiance?!? Whatever. I also find it weird they have a huge "Corona Beer" banner instead of Presidente...odd. We're greeted by a server who's not Dominican. (Right there is a red flag for me, I tend to like Dominicans serving to feel like home but as long as the cook is Dominican, fine.) She proceeds to give us 1 menu and tells us to sit anywhere and she'll be right with us. She takes forever to get to us, when she finally comes to our table, I decide to order a chimi that I've been wanting for a week...she says "sorry, we don't have chimis. As a matter of fact, we don't have anything with bread." Umm ok. I then tell my mom to order because I now need more time to look at their menu...my mom orders sancocho. She replies "sorry we don't have sancocho right now". (Even though their sign is blinking outside with sancocho.) I then ordered something with plátano, and she said they don't have any either. How do you have a Dominican restaurant and not have plátano on deck??! Who's doing the inventory in this place?!? It's lunchtime, what the heck? The server recommends the yaroa, which for ppl who don't know what that is, is like street food...fries, cheese and meat...I would eat this after the club, not really for lunch. At that point, we decided to just walk out, which is such a shame because even though their menu was limited, it all sounded good but they just didn't have anything available. SMH. I tried 3 times...I will not be back. There are far more restaurants that will gladly take my money. I'm giving 2 stars...1 because parking is available because it's in a plaza, and 2 because they're Dominican and wanted various items off the menu.

The sancocho was tasty but I am not a fan of fat or bones on my meat, which I need to search for and cut off before eating. The mofongo was pricey at $20 for lunch, but my husband and I shared these two dishes and since I'm not going to make it at home, I felt it was worth the experience and I'd order it again. The service felt a little slow but I was happy to hear that they make the dishes fresh as they have a take-out section where food is kept warm. We went on a Saturday, between meals, so there were only two other tables being served and the restaurant is a good size. It was clean and decorated. I chose seating around the edge that had a booth and chairs opposite. Most seating is tables with chairs, so it feels kind of like a nice cafeteria.

It is located in a small plaza; I got confused coming in because the plaza next door is not connected. There is limited parking when it is busy, but I got lucky that someone was leaving when I was pulling in. I walked in and ordered the Mangu 2 golpes. It came with salami and cheese. This is the kind of place where you can either order at the counter or sit down and order. I ordered at the counter and then chose a table and sat down. One of the waitresses came and took my drink order which was a ginger ale and quickly came back with it. The mangu was soft, fresh, and delicious. The cheese was fried perfectly and so was the salami. I especially love the pickled onions on top. I devoured the whole plate and contemplated ordering a second one but talked myself out of it. Once I finished my meal I got up and paid by the counter. This is a perfect place to come for a quick lunch, I was in and out in 30 mins and the food was delicious and fairly priced. I will be back here, would love to come here for breakfast next time!
