My most recent visit to The Stock Market was on a Thursday evening this past July. On a previous…read morevisit to the Concord/Charlotte area, we found The Smoke Pit when searching online for a good barbeque spot near our location. Since they are in the same building, we also discovered The Stock Market. We love the restaurant so much and returned on this trip to the area, so we also made a return trip to the butcher shop this time around. The Stock Market is located on Concord Parkway, just a few minutes off of 85. It is in its own building that is half restaurant and half meat market, but all the same entity. There is plenty of parking in front and on the side of the building. However, it seems to fill up with all of the patrons coming and going! You will have no issue locating the place, as it is clearly marked with signage. Just note that the hours for the store differ from the restaurant, with the store closing earlier. We stopped here just after 5:00 PM, and it was not terribly busy. There is usually a lot of action in the area due to the restaurant, but the market portion has never been overwhelmingly crowded when I have visited. There is a lot of signage to direct and instruct patrons to the correct side of the building for the market. After you enter on the right side of the building, you walk right into the store. This shop is definitely a true butcher shop. There are so many different types and cuts of meat. Fresh, frozen, shelf-stable, and more varieties await you. There are other select grocery items, but you would not be able to complete all of your typical grocery shopping at this one store. They also sell bones and specific items for dogs. We bought our dog a bone, and he loved it! As stated, there are fresh and frozen meat options available. The selection is great, and you are able to find a lot of different types and cuts not typically available in a traditional grocery store. Most of the meat seems to be prepared in-house, but there are also some name-brand items throughout (such as for sausage). There are a lot of options already on the shelves, but I would assume if you were looking for something specific that it could be cut and packaged right there. In the back, there is a fresh meat counter where you can pick your exact weight and have it packed right there. A deli counter is beside it, offering lunch meats and cheeses. It did not look like they produce their own lunch meats, but it is an option if you are in the store. There were also some hot, ready-to-eat items in this area too. There are signs hanging advertising the different bundles that you can buy. There is a Chicken Bundle, Beef Bundle, and Pork Bundle, which all contain 5 different varieties of the respective meat. The total weight is around 25 pounds per bundle. The Variety Bundle allows you to mix and match 5 different types of meat, each in 5 pound increments. This would be a nice way to try different types and cuts of meat or to stock up your freezer. The prices here are decent and comparable to any other meat store. They had a deal on select packages that you could mix and match to get 5 packages for $29.99, presumably presenting some savings. There was also a discount freezer in the rear of the store with items marked down to half off. Though, for the quality of meat and vast selection, the prices here are not too bad. Each time I have visited the store, the staff has been kind and helpful. There are cashiers up front, as well as deli and counter staff in the back ready to serve the customers coming in. We have enjoyed stopping into The Stock Market when we find ourselves eating at The Smoke Pit. It is a nice butcher shop with a good amount of variety and fresh items. The prices are fair, and all of the staff is friendly. Would recommend giving this spot a try if you are local to the area!

I didn't end up signing up for a CSA but I did start making regular trips to the farm to pick up produce. Their produce is always fresh and delicious. My favorite is their peaches but they have fantastic heirloom tomatoes, corn, etc as well. Everyone is very nice, there is plenty of parking, easy access off I-85 and you get to love on their sweet pups.

The shop is really cute and well organized. I plan to go back and buy some locally made jalapeno pimento and cheese and cheese straws. Shopping here is a great way to support local small businesses.

They have all types of snacks (my favorite is always some form of chocolate) - popcorn, beer, chips, cheese straws, etc. they support many local vendors including their empanadas and variety of Elderberry Syrups. I'll frequently buy some gifts next door in The Mercantile and combine them with some snacks from the market or treat myself to something. The decline in food quality and inattentive service have removed this restaurant from our rotation.

It was just too hot to enjoy the patio during our visit, so we opted to eat inside. The menu focuses on sandwiches, salads, and grain bowls. Our group tried three sandwiches: the La Familigia, the Big Schlepper, and the Hillcrest. The La Familigia was enjoyable. The combination of capicola, Genoa salami, mortadella, fresh mozzarella, arugula, and the spicy pickled pepper spread on ciabatta created a flavorful, well-balanced sandwich that I'd happily order again. The Big Schlepper was another winner. The corned beef paired perfectly with the Swiss cheese, spicy Dijon aioli, pickles, shaved cabbage, and caraway rye bread. Every bite had great texture and flavor. Unfortunately, the Hillcrest didn't meet expectations. When you think of chicken salad with apples and pecans, you expect that classic creamy chicken salad flavor. This version was much drier, with little to no mayonnaise, and the flavor was very different from a traditional chicken salad. In fact, someone at our table commented that it had an almost "fishy" taste, which was surprising. To be fair, taste is subjective, and I'm sure there are people who enjoy this style of chicken salad, so I'm only sharing the opinion of the person who ordered it. I mentioned the feedback to one of the employees, hoping they might appreciate hearing a customer's perspective, but the response felt indifferent, which was disappointing. Overall, Pump Social has a great concept, a fun atmosphere, and two of the three sandwiches were very good. I'd definitely return to explore more of the menu, but I'd skip the Hillcrest next time.

Each sandwich comes with a side included in the price and that makes decision making easier. We love that. I love how they have bottomless coffee for $3 and the funky and eclectic mugs you can choose from. This is a cool spot. We really enjoyed it and will absolutely be back to try more sandwiches. I love French inspired cuisine. I have traveled across France. We hosted a French exchange student for a year. I took French in school. This was meant to be a specialized gift for the occasion. The small seating area only had 10 tables tightly fitted into the back of the strip shopping center store. The decor was eclectic but overwhelming. It feels claustrophobic but clean. There were two servers tending to the dining room. They were friendly. There were mistakes on the special menu and they alerted of the issues. They had a special Valentines menu, a tea menu, and a dessert menu. The tea was good. They got it out in a reasonable time. The server brought me a smidge of honey. They had a decent selection of caffeine free teas. She took our food order the same time as our tea order. We sat at our table waiting for an hour before questioned the status of our meal. The table beside us was also becoming restless and tired of waiting. Finally the table beside us received his chicken salad sandwich. His date received my date's order ant took a bite. They resolved this by taking the plate from the incorrect table and gave it to my date AFTER it was touched! This left me sitting there with no food. My date finished her meal and I was still sitting there with nothing. I only ordered a salad topped with grilled chicken!!! After being there for one hour and fifty minutes they said the chicken was still not ready. They didn't charge if for our meal but I never received any food. Nothing. This was a well thought out special occasion that was ruined by an incompetent kitchen. It was a disaster. I left there and stopped by Jersey Mike's. Two hours of my life totally wasted.
