I'm someone that wants my facials to show results so this is perfect. I visit every 8-12 weeks for an Ultra-Cryo Facial with Ruth. She starts with microdermabrasion, followed by a device that emits incredibly cold air (twice) and lastly a mixture of different colour lasers. None of the treatmeatment is painful but I never quite get to a place of deep relaxation or sleep. The cold air is kind of jolt to your system. Thankfully while going over my face she never leaves the concentration of cold in one spot too long so it doesn't hurt (at most it's slightly uncomfortable). Basically feels like a super cold winter flurry on your face. To protect your eyes with the lasers she provides light blockers (like you'd wear at a tanning salon). The laser portion doesn't feel like anything but can be a little noisy (another reason it's never quite relaxing). Ruth always gives me the full rundown of where my skin is at and what I may need in between visits. However, I never feel upsold on products I don't need. She kept asking me if the pressure was ok and it was. About the Service: Microdermabrasion feels like they are scraping your face. The technician told me it takes off a layer of skin to make you look younger after the treatment. I was surprised to learn that she would not be doing any extractions. Last time I had a facial the technician showed me all of the stuff That came out of my face but they didn't do that here. I'm not sure I would redo the treatment at this location but I was nice to have some TLC. I also thought I'd get a facial massage but they didn't do that either. Would I Return? Probably not but possibly if the price was right.

When I called to make my first appointment, the gentleman who answered the phone was extremely polite and courteous while speaking to me. He answered my questions and scheduled me in for my preferred time and day. So far, so good. On the day of my appointment, I left the house with no makeup on, since they would just be taking it off anyway. Over the past couple of years, I've developed some redness on my left cheek and forehead, which seems to get worse on certain days. I'm not quite sure what causes it, which is why I'm seeking out various skin care remedies to treat it. I used to have completely clear, beautiful skin so this has been extremely depressing for me and I feel incredibly self-conscious about it. When I walked into the clinic, the woman behind the desk (Silvia) looked up and I told her I was there for my appointment. She looked at me and said in kind of a loud voice, "What's wrong with your face?" I was mortified and instantly felt extremely embarrassed that I had left the house without makeup on. I glanced around and saw a few people (likely staff) turn to look at me while I stammered a reply, something to the effect of, "That's what my face looks like without makeup and that's why I'm here." I couldn't believe her lack of professionalism - I was actually shocked at how rude it was to blurt that out. Anyway, after completing the intake form, I was taken into a room for my treatment where a lovely young woman asked a series of questions and we spoke about the treatment. After completing the microdermabrasion, I went to the front counter to schedule my next appointment and pay the tax on my Groupon. Silvia apologized to me, saying that someone on her staff had pointed out that she had been rude to me. She seemed genuinely surprised that it was perceived that way, and went on to make a few excuses for the comment she had made. I thanked her for the apology, scheduled my next appointment and left. I don't know why, but her comment stung quite a bit. Probably because I felt vulnerable without makeup and wasn't expecting a "professional" to react that way, but also because her apology seemed pretty insincere. My next appointment was a couple of months later and upon going into the clinic, I had that uncomfortable feeling return. The service was fine and the technician was great (I don't remember her name, unfortunately) but in all, it was really not a relaxing experience. I hesitated between two and three stars, but ultimately I thought the actual service was fine so I stuck with three stars. I understand it's a clinic and not a spa, but they would do well to maybe oil the door hinges so they don't squeak so loudly - not to mention every time they open/close a door, it sounded like they were slamming them. It's just the layout of the rooms - the walls don't go up to the ceiling, so you can hear every noise, including all the loud voices in the hall. Also, several times people walked into my treatment room by mistake. It was just very disconcerting. I think there's an expectation of privacy and perhaps a somewhat quiet environment when getting these treatments done that is not present at this clinic. I could certainly overlook this if everything else was great, but it just felt like one more thing that added to the list of reasons not to return. I made a joke about getting some WD40 for the squeaking door hinges to Silvia, but she just stared at me and said she didn't understand what that was. I tried to explain but it didn't seem to matter. Oh well. I had come prepared this visit with my tinted moisturizer to apply before leaving, which I did in the washroom. When I was done, there was no "thanks for coming" or any conversation about any follow up treatments - in fact, when I saw Silvia in the hall and asked if there was anything else, she just said no, so I left feeling like they didn't even want my business. This, combined with my initial feeling on my first visit, I guess I shouldn't feel bad about not going back. Whenever I try a new place (Groupon or not) the question I ask myself is would I return (and pay full price)? In fact, I'm more likely to return in future when I feel like I got a great deal on my first visit. In this case, my response would be no to both. Even with a discount, I'm not interested in going back. I've tried a few other places in the past couple of months and I'm happy to say I've found a place that I feel really good about and have chosen to go there instead for my future skin care needs. Customer service is so important in this industry so I truly hope that Silvia can try to be more tactful towards her clients in the future.

My esthetician stepped out of the room for a while while my mask was on instead of giving me a scalp massage (as I expected). There also wasn't as much explanation about the products being applied or the steps of the treatment, which would have enhanced the experience. The facial itself was fine-I can't really complain but the overall experience could have been more attentive and aligned with what I expected. Also note this spa isn't one where you go and wait in a nice room. You change right in the room you are having your treatment in. I was offered some tea but in a small paper cup but no time to really drink it because off I went into the room. Mind you, I did show up exactly at my facial appointment time.

I've had IPL treatments in the past at other places and never felt they were very effective. But my dermatologist was recommending a combination of IPL and microdermabrasion to combat redness I've been experiencing from rosacea in the past few years. So when I saw the Groupon for IPL at an actual laser clinic, I figured I'd try it out. My initial package was for a series of four treatments. Most places suggest a series of 4-6 treatments, and this clinic was no different in that regard. Where they do stand out from other clinics, is in the quality of the service provided. During my first appointment, I noticed a big difference in the whole experience right away. The technician really took her time to look at my skin and discuss my concerns, and she really seemed to want to help me. Other places I've been to in the past have done treatments, and then quickly moved on to up-selling on products or additional services. At LS Laser Clinic, I've felt like the end result is just as important to them as it is for me. They do carry the Dermalogica line of skin care, but I've never been pushed to buy anything. I will likely purchase the calming gel, though, as it's very soothing after IPL. If you've never had it done before, the treatment feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin. Actually, more like a rubber band made of molten steel. Just kidding. I guess it depends on your tolerance level, but I've had IPL treatments in other places that could be described as mildly uncomfortable at most. But here, it's pretty intense. Maybe the equipment is better, or the treatment is more thorough than other places, I don't know. But for me, it's quite painful and my face is usually puffy and quite red after. While the redness goes away within an hour or two, the swelling can last for a couple of days for me. I have quite sensitive skin, though, so my results may not be typical. So it's been several months since I started going here and I'm now on my second series of treatments. I waited to write a review until I could see serious results. While I could see drastic improvements after my 3rd treatment, I knew it would be better to wait at least until my 6th treatment to really see a change. I honestly can't believe the difference in my skin since my first appointment. The technician, Faezeh, took photos in my first appointment and it's amazing how much better my skin looks - both skin tone and texture - since that first visit. I still have two more sessions, but I'm absolutely thrilled with the improvement so far. I highly recommended LS Laser Clinic to anyone who is looking to improve their skin using IPL. They do provide other services, but I can only comment on what I've actually experienced with IPL.

After two months, at the end of my last treatment, they said they forgot to charge HST (over $200) which I would have to pay immediately. I ended up paying, and it left a very bitter taste. If you do buy packages from this business, double-check to make sure the price includes HST. --Update-- The response from the business doesn't make sense and isn't true: "you purchased our Black Friday special from outside Canada" I live in Toronto, and purchased this package while in Canada. The receptionist who dealt with this issue also told me that multiple people paid a promotional price that didn't include HST. I'm disappointed that the business didn't try to make things right, instead shifting the blame when it clearly wasn't my fault, and other customers were also affected.
