I attended classes here Oct/Nov of 2018 to obtain my NA-C license. The instructors were excellent and very knowledgeable. They are serious-minded which is needed in training people for this field--I appreciated their no-nonsense yet open approach. They are truly wanting to set students up for success. The class instruction is about 1/3 videos and 2/3 lectures, which are by no means boring. The skills classes were extremely helpful for knowing what to expect in the state test. As long as you pay attention to what the state booklet (which they give you) says for each skill, practice the skills at home or at school with a friend/classmate (highly recommended! even if it's not convenient), and put forth a good effort, you will have no problem passing the school and state tests. AND you will be prepared for the real world. Sure, there will be things in the real world that you do a little differently or things that you didn't specifically learn, but use the springboard this course gives you (along with a little common sense) and you will have confidence in no time. In response to another reviewer's comment that this class is very repetitive--it is supposed to be that way! You will get the information engrained into your head and motor skills so that it will become second nature. Since you will be taking care of people just like your mother or father or grandma, you want to be trained to care for them the best that you can! Tip: Follow the instructors' advice and take the state test at NATI--you will be so much more comfortable in the environment where you practiced. Art and Marisa were awesome skills instructors!!! The occupational therapist who comes one class to speak (non-stop) is an amazing gal (so sorry I don't recall her name)! And of course EdnaMae and Christine are wonderful and supportive, too! Over the few months since I am working as a CNA in a long term care facility, my coworkers, as well as my supervisors, have kept asking me where have I gained the good practical skills from. This made me proud that I graduated from NATI, so I decided to write a few words about my amazing experience with them. First of all, I found what I was really looking for: a NA program that doesn't take too long to complete (it only took me about 5 weeks, comparing with three months length programs that nearby colleges offer), that doesn't ask to take prerequisite classes, that is flexible enough to fit into my busy schedule and, of course, that teaches all I need to know in order to pass the state test and, most important, to perform well as a nurse assistant. Another good thing about the program is that the staff is really great. The administration is fast, pleasant, and polite. I did have to call a couple times, and all my questions and requires about rescheduling appointments or making up classes have been answered in a professional manner. The faculty are approachable, supportive and understanding. They were always willing to help, from the front office staff to the teachers and clinical instructors. The facility is very well upgraded with modern equipment. The State Board tests can be held at the facility, and I was able to become acquainted with and practice skills in that room. The instructor's explanations were clear, and the materials were first-rate. The training that I was offered was very practical...everything I have learned at NATI I applied with success in the real life. The classes were taught in an interactive manner, the students were all involved and stimulated to do presentations, and we were exposed to many updated videos. The learning experience at NATI was enhanced by outside speakers that came in to lecture about interesting subjects, such as dementia or HIV. After graduation, I was able to find a job in a short time, and I am really grateful for all the help I have received at NATI. I highly recommend this school to anyone I meet who is considering a NA certification. read more

I am a licensed massage therapist and my focus is hospice and oncology. I thought adding CNA skills would add a layer of comfort for my patients but I was overwhelmed looking at schools and programs. My sister who is a nurse found NATI for me (thank goodness) based on it's excellent reputation. I've read in these YELP reviews that some found the instructors to be rude. Nothing could be further from the truth. All of the instructors are knowledgeable, patient, experienced and kind. They go through a huge amount of information with a large number of students and to do that they must be focused. But rude? No way. On the first day of class the instructors outlined the course and it was exactly as they said it would be - no surprises. The state required class instruction was an excellent mix of lecture, video and demonstration and the extra smaller classes were wonderful. NATI has many extras to help prepare for the final state exams as well; a skills DVD, a test prep book, extra skills classes...in fact, one of my favorite instructors came-in on her day off to unlock the skills lab for my friend and I the day before our state exams (which we breezed through) and then stayed and walked us through each skill one more time. Outstanding instructors! The clinical was tough but excellently run and a great look at what the actual work of a CNA is. The job fair was a nice surprise that I didn't need (I love my job) but it was a nice reminder of how in demand a good CNA is and will continue to be. Being an LMP I'm required to have 24 continuing education hours every other year, so I've seen my share of bad programs. This program is wonderful and I highly recommend it. Maybe the work isn't for everyone, but if this is work you would like to do, start at NATI. You will not only be well prepared for your state exams, but you will be very well prepared for what is ultimately more important: confident, competent, safe care of your patients while doing a rewarding job you'll love. I enrolled in this program 12/2013 and took the weekend class. I was working full time, and it fit into my work schedule. My instructor was Rose and she was very nice and funny and was a great teacher. She taught us how to pass the certification test while also how to be a good CNA in practice. I really enjoyed the class and her instruction. I now work at Northwest Hospital as a CNA. I was hired on at the hospital less than a year after enrolling in the course, and only 4 months after I became certified as a CNA. This school helps prepare you for what it is really like to work as a CNA. A lot of other CNA's at NWH went to this program too. If you want to learn how to be a great caretaker and pass the WA St. test to get certified, you should definitely take the class here. I am new on this career and I didn't know where to start with because I am also new in the country. My mother inlaw told me to get a NAC and go to school first so that I have a career to start with. At first I was a hospitality aide while doing my NAC school with NATI. I am happy because the instructors are very supportive and they will teach you in anyway they can to ensure that you understand the topic that we tackled. Instructors are very open with questions and suggestions they are professional and dedicated. They will help you and support you to practice for the state exam. Worth your every last dollar! Getting a certification for a job that is in HIGH demand couldn't be any easier. The ladies at NATI were very genuine, understanding, and patient in explaining and demonstrating the skills (which is the harder part of the state exam according to everybody that has already taken it). The commitment level is minimal for what you're walking away with from this class. The best part was that in class 10 they hosted a job fair and brought in a handful of employers that are currently hiring NA-Cs and they bring applications with them! ...I met and applied to three places, and ultimately was offered a position at one of the facilities the very next day. End of the day, I'd recommend NATI-Shoreline to everyone! read more

My review of Nursing Assistant Training Institute... I received a great education there and left with all the necessary tools to start my new career. I was treated with respect kindness and patience during each and every contact I had with the administration and instructors there. Everyone went over and beyond to help me understand the steps I needed to take to achieve my goals. The class instructor is amazing. Her passion for teaching and experience helping people learn to care for the elderly correctly is nothing short of admirable. The staff had the answers to almost any questions I had and if not the got the answers for me. I have enjoyed attending Nursing Assistant Training Institute very much. The teachers are wonderful and so is the other staff. I have never attended another school that had teachers and staff that are so supportive and willing to help you the best that they can. And always encouraging us as students to move on in the medical field however that may be.I have found that their main goals are to set us up for success and to train people they know will be cut out for helping elderly and disabled people. This course is wonderful! I had a great experience while going through the process of receiving my NAC because of this institute as well as the teacher. The staff is welcoming and are there to make sure you succeed. As a person with a full time job, the staff made it possible for me to make up classes that I missed and were always around to help out.
