Do not live here. The entire complex is run down and they don't do much to fix it up. The maintenance people are friendly but the front office staff are rude and don't care about the well being of their tenants. I have lived here for 3 years and have had issues with my ceiling leaking, mold in the bathroom due to no fan and roaches in the hallway of our unit. Also, if your new upstairs neighbors have a toddler they are allowed to stomp around all day long. Our other neighbors never stood in one place and stomped as loud as they could for 3 minutes straight. I called the property about it a few times and the rude property manager told me "it's just normal apartment living". No one should pay over $1,800 a month to live somewhere where you can't even take a nap and your dogs are scared from loud bangs upstairs. To top this all of when they changed out our AC at the beginning off the summer they flung gunk all over the walls and our carpet. They also put in an AC that didn't fit in the wall properly and used no foam to seal the gap. So the first time it rained it poured through the gaps which soaked our entire carpet and my boyfriends gaming set up. They will not offer to replace anything that they've damaged. I've lived here for a couple of months now so I feel like I can write a review. The ladies from the office are awesome! They really went out of their way to help us, especially Amy. She is amazing, she was incredible with the whole process and took her time and made us feel comfortable about renting here. The complex is well kept and maintained. Maintenance has always been prompt and friendly! The walls are thin but it's an apartment complex so I don't know what the complaints in other reviews are about. The fitness facility is small but has working equipment. There is also paid laundry which is way more convenient and cheaper in comparison to a laundromat. My only complaint is that not all of the pet owners pick up after their pets. Of course it's a rule (and should be common sense) but unfortunately I've come close to stepping in it while taking out the trash a few times. Overall a great experience living here and reasonable prices! read more

I have been living in Nutmeg Woods since '07 and don't understand all of the hate here on Yelp. First off, the claim that washers and driers are $3.75 EACH simply isn't true. Unless your building is different from all of others, they are $1.75 each. A drug bust in a small CT city? I'm pretty sure that happens in other placed BESIDES Nutmeg Woods. As for the decks..the extensive reconstruction of our decks was vastly more than a 'couple of 2X2s'. Please get your facts straight before posting rants here on Yelp. As for attitude from the office, again, I have never received such treatment, but then again, I have never given them any attitude, so... All in all, my experience with this place has been pretty much the same as any other apartment complex I have encountered. read more

The worsted DON'T RENT FROM THEM I rented for three years and they raised the rent everything you renew the lease 50 dollars or more then one day I had company over and we follow the parking rules and he parked along the tree line not in front of the building like we were told my friend arrived around 5pm and we he was leaving around 11pm we realized the his car was towed and because the office was closed we had no idea were his car so they can rob of all your money. So I've been living here for 10 months. Here's my list of pros and cons for people thinking about moving in: Pro: location is great really. there are two plazas about a half mile away. So within walking distance you have shoprite, petsmart, marshalls, staples, homegoods, bank of america, dime bank, liquor store, dennys, texas roadhouse, chilies, outback, a Chinese buffet, etc. its a short drive to ocean state job lot, ALDI, stop and shop, home depot, lowes, walmart, BJs and crystal mall. You shouldn't have to drive far for anything. Its also a reasonable commute to all those places and Millstone power station, the groton sub base, UCONN avery point, electric boat, etc. there is a beach nearby, Ocean beach park which is nice. Its not Cocoa beach or Myrtle beach or whatever but its nice for what it is and youre close to the beach! There also are several state parks within a short drive, like Harkness state park. There also is a gas station at the entrance to the complex. So yeah they have location figured out. Pro: there seems to always be parking. They have parking lots in front of the buildings and they are plowed. The walkways are shoveled and salted. You know last year i fell a couple times on sheets of ice. This year they've done a good job at keeping the walkways clear. Con: my car was hit in the parking lot. They don't have cameras so there really isn't much they can do when this happens. Its a shared parking lot so there is only so much you can do. Bad luck happens i guess. You wish they had the parking lots covered with cameras tho. It was $892 in damage. Oh and people park on the street right by the parking lot entrance/exit so it is very hard to see when you get out. Con: electric heating here so your utility bill will be more expensive than it was if you've had gas heat before. Pro: but the insulation is great. Last apartment was cheaper due to gas heat but the bedroom was always freezing because of shitty insulation around the windows in there and lack of a bedroom thermostat. I do not have that problem here. They do have separate thermostats in the bedroom and living room which helps. Also the heater broke during the winter and was fixed within 24 hours. The living room and bedroom are separate so we were only without one of two for less than a day. Maintenance is definetly a pro. They respond in a reasonable amount of time and if you only want them to enter when you are home they will respect that. Mixed: they have some amenities. They have a tiny gym but its something. They have a nice pool but its only open when staff is there. So come September when not every day is nice but a lot of them are, they'll be closing that pool at 3pm on a Sunday when its warm and sunny out. Its a nice pool tho. They even have showers/bathrooms by the pool so you can dry off and change before going back to your room. They have a little area with some planters outside the pool in the corner which is nice although you could buy something and put it on your porch. They have a little park area near there with like 2-3 benches and 2 grills and a playground. The area is kinda small but it gives you a place you can grill since you aren't allowed to do that in the porch. They also have a little dog park. Tiny but nice for people with pets. Of course they pay a pet rent. Amenities here are definitely a mixed bag. You also pay a convenience fee. Idk what that is for another than snow removal for 4 months of the year but it has been good this year. There is also a trash removal fee. They have a large dumpster on site which is convenient. Laundry is another mixed bag. It uses a card instead of quarters and the price is reasonable tho the machines are small and the dryers only do 60 minute loads so if you need another 10-15 minutes too bad. You're paying for an hour. Ive never seen that at a laundromat ever. Con: speaking of the pet policy, um it kind of sucks. You pay a non-refundable pet deposit and then extra rent ontop of that. This is for a cat or dog. I think they have breed restrictions too (pitbulls?). On the bright side fish and reptiles are cool since they live in tanks there is no pet rent for them. If you have a bearded dragon they're cool with your heat lamps. Some places consider that a fire hazard. I zip tie mine so they cant be knocked over. Nutmeg woods is cool with anything other than a cat or dog, then they charge you. Pro: Cleanliness is good here. No issues with mice or anything like that thankfully. No issues with mold in weird places. There is a spot on the wall with water damage but I've told them about this and it seems like it can't be easily fixed. Water is somehow getting back there when it rains. They basically took a look and told me to let them know if i see any signs of mold which i have not. Pro: neighbors are good for the most part, except for my car being hit. I haven't had any issues with anyone at all. People are quiet at least in my area. No issues with theft so far. . read more

Do not do it to yourself or your family !!! I was a tenant there with my 20 year old daughter , there was a shooting , overflowing dumpsters and rodents , no parking for me or guests, I gave 40 days notice to let them know I would not be resigning my lease, they charged me and my daughter a $800 early move out fee, and attached both our credit reports , she is a nursing student so that will be great for future student loans, so please keep looking for another place to live! read more

I have stayed there for almost 15 months and I never felt unsafe. The amenities are not so great but again it's good to have a happy living. The staff has been good and the maintenance guys are prompt every time I called them. I have maintained the house well through out my stay and Bonus is that I have got my full deposit back. Nutmeg Woods was the first place I lived in when I moved to Ct. I lived there for 4 yrs and I have no complaints, as long as you didn't bother anyone you would not be bothered. The community is very safe, I can't count the times I left my car unlocked and worse with the windows down. The office staff was always nice and friendly. They were accommodating after I hit a financial snag, with no hassle, they were more than willing to help. Amanda has always been very helpful and understanding in all the yrs I lived there. I moved out, but am hoping to come back sometime in the future as the location is perfect in my opinion. They also host get togethers at the office and you can meet your neighbors so you feel more like a community rather than just living in 4 walls and a roof. read more

The only good thing about this place is the neighbors, everyone respects each other, noise level is very minimal. The Staff at the leasing office is extremely rude. My apartment had mice, I called the office and all they did was send a guy to throw a bag of poison on my floor, when they knew I had a pet. Kitchen counter tops are painted, and the paint will melt off In summer. In winter they will bury your car in snow in the middle of the night. I felt many times because sidewalks were icy, they will clean the side walks once from snow but if is snows again they won't clean, maybe budget issues? If you decide to lease from this place, take pictures of the apartment before you move in and make a note of everything, when I did a walk thru to hand in the keys to my apartment, the lady I did it with said "you didn't even try to clean" because the pain of the counter was melted, hello! I called them so many times to come and fix this. At the end I met with the assistant manager, because they wanted to charge for the counter, he ended up not charging me. Overall it wasn't a pleasant experience, so glad I'm out of there. read more

I live here and hate it. The washer and dryer cost $3.75 EACH. And one washer and dryer will not contain a week's worth of laundry. I generally use 2 washers and 2 dryers for a total of $15 per week on laundry alone. There was also a huge drug bust that occurred recently, even though I had to pay $50 to have a background investigation on me out of pocket when I signed my lease. And the drug bust was a 15 month investigation before the sting operation. They don't plow the parking lots when it snows. Neighbors are noisy. The fitness room has 3 treadmills, two of which don't function properly, 2 ellipticals and a stationary bike. Also has some pulley machine which is a joke. But if you don't mind constantly hearing police sirens, annoying neighbors, spending at least $60 a month on laundry, and still think it's worth paying about $1400 a month (after utilities), you'll love it. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I moved out of the apartment a couple of months ago. First and foremost they called to tow my car even though I rent at the apartments! The insides are old, old appliances, and small, their format for the layout was weird, the kitchen is small! The stover was so close to the dishwasher ai has to move the stove to open it. The gym is outdated. We paid about $1,500 for the deposit and all our rent paid. I called for our deposit and never received anything back from them. I called again for them to say they sent us to collections and we have to talk to them. Didn't call didn't say anything on how we are in collections when everything was paid! If we did owe anything why didn't they say anything before we left. They have our number on file. Only thing they asked was for a forwarding address and that was all. Their communication suck! For a couple of months it was hard to enter in the building because the keys kept getting jammed (it wasn't just ours, everybody in the building). Worst apartments and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

I've never actually taken the time to negatively rate and review a business establishment before, but the way I was treated by Nutmeg Apartments in New London was absolutely ridiculous and outrageous. In summary, I went over to a friend's apartment to watch a one-hour television show at 10:00 pm, and, by the time we were finished watching, I came out to find that my car had been towed..... right out of a parking spot, which was located in a lot directly adjacent to the apartment building. Initially, I thought the car had been stolen. I called the police. I had zero notice or knowledge that I was parked in an alleged "no parking" area. The parking spots are absent of numbers and any sort of identifying markers or signage otherwise. Not only are the individual spots unlabeled, but both the lot itself and the street upon which the lot is located (from the perpendicular "main" road to the lot at issue) are completely void of parking signs or other indication. The signs aren't small or hidden - they're simply nonexistent. I had absolutely no way of readily discerning, nor a way of deducing, that I was wrongfully parked. I parked in an unmarked parking spot in an unmarked lot. I went to watch a TV show with a friend and ended up being stranded in New London in the middle of the night, and I was late to work the next morning. Both the complex office and the towing company were closed at this time. I ended up having to pay $160 in cash to Sireci's Auto to have my car released the next day, and the reason I was given was that I was parked in a "no parking" area, and that there were "no parking" signs everywhere. Unlike the towing company, I have timestamped, dated photos - there was not a single sign in the area. Not one. None. Zero. NO "NO PARKING" SIGNS. NO "RESIDENT ONLY" SIGNS. NO PARKING SIGNS. NO SIGNS. Nothing. There isn't even "covered" and "uncovered" parking (some apartments have awnings and the like). Anyhow, when I spoke to the office the next morning, both Amy and Amanda were rude and dismissive. Amanda was talking over me and practically shouting, and she actually ended up cutting me off by hanging up on me. Both women kept saying that the parking regulations are spelled-out in their lease agreement, but neither seemed to understand that I didn't sign a lease with their company. I don't have a contract with Nutmeg Woods. I have no idea what is contained in their private documents. Neither the apartment complex nor the towing company (Sireci's Auto) would take responsibility/authority for the towing, and both gave me conflicting, diversionary answers to my questions. Sireci's told me that "maintenance men" called my car in, and the apartment complex told me that the towing company patrols the lot. Sireci's Towing also told me that they took no pictures, because they only take photos, for instance, when a car is parked in front of a fire hydrant or in front of a sign indicating that the parking in unauthorized. The irony here is glaring. Moreover, there is, apparently, no way to contest a wrongful towing, which is extremely questionable and concerning to me. In any case, CT state law states that, in order for an owner or lessee of private commercial property to remove a vehicle from the property, there must be "conspicuous signage" indicating the restricted parking area(s) & the associated consequence of removal (Sec. 14-145 of the general statutes, as amended by Public Act 15-42, effective Oct. 1, 2015). Emphasis on CONSPICUOUS SIGNAGE. Under no legitimate definition or interpretation of this phrase would ZERO SIGNAGE qualify. Also under CT law, in the event of a wrongful towing, the owner/lessee shall reimburse the car owner for towing and storage fees, as well court and attorney's fees, if applicable. As a company which, by its very nature, invites guests upon its property, it appears very predatory and malicious to have vehicles towed without first labeling their lots. I was punished for breaking a rule in which I didn't know existed. In order for the public to follow the rules, they must first be AWARE of the rules. This entire situation could've been easily avoided had a single sign been erected. Nutmeg Woods refuses to remedy this situation. I have found no other avenue of relief, and thus I am filing a complaint with the DMV and I am also looking into filing a lawsuit against Nutmeg Woods for reimbursement of the money that I was wrongfully forced to pay. read more

By far the worst place I and my wife have ever lived! If your military DO NOT move here! I told them when I signed my lease for renewal that I would be moving out prior to the lease expiring. They then charged me for breaking the lease prior to moving out. I went to the office and told them and showed them my orders and they said "oh were sorry and we won't charge you that". Not two months later after moving across the country we received a collection notice in the mail from this crappy complex. While living there we had a terrible experience. Cops were there every weekend! They do not lease to the best of people! DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!! read more

Honestly Nutmeg doesn't deserve one star. I have been a resident here for over a year and I have not been satisfied living here. A few months ago a gentleman that lived in the next building over collapsed to his death from the third floor due to their poor upkeep of the wooden stairs and decks. IF Nutmeg is passing any inspections, they are most likely passing while meeting the absolute bare minimum requirements. They also "fixed" our decks and stairs by nailing in a couple of 2x2's. About 2 weeks ago while my roommate and I were at work, one of our co-workers had heard that there was a fire at Nutmeg and told us that we should probably call and check. When we called the office and asked about the fire, the lady that answered was extremely rude and wanted to play 21 questions instead of just letting us know if it was our building or another one of our co-workers buildings. I cant think of her name, but there is one woman that works in the office who is constantly rude and giving attitude for no reason. She is not professional at all. Parking is AN ABSOLUTE INCONVENIENT NIGHTMARE!!!! Whoever designed the parking lots needs to be slapped! First of all there is not enough parking for residents. Each resident can have up to 2 cars, but there is no way in hell we can fit in these tiny lots that have maybe 15 spots. Second, they are one-way-in, one-way-out and extremely narrow! If someone is drunk or reckless then there can easily be a head-on collision JUST GETTING INTO OR OUT the freaking parking lot. So due to lack of parking, if you're too late you'll have to park on the street which could be out of the way or even dangerous at night. It's also very annoying when you have groceries! I personally think that they should just tear these down and start all over or at least do some renovating or remodeling. For the price I pay for rent, I should feel safe and be happy. Management wasn't able to do my final walk through before my flight back to California so they told me to just take pictures drop my keys to their office and I'm good to go. Literally few days after I'm gone at the apartment my renters insurance agent called me and said The management of Nutmeg woods file a pet damage claim. First of all I don't even have pets, I can't have pets because I have a newborn baby. Second I'm probably the most clean resident they will ever have. I always vacuum everyday always wiping my countertops and when there's one thing wrong with the apartment I would always call the maintenance to fix it. Little did I know, I was charge $100 fee for my carpet excluding my deposit which wasn't even given back to me and another $600 for the "burn" countertop. Let me tell you guys about this burn countertop, it wasn't a sturdy countertop. I am surprise this apartment complex hasn't been sued yet. All the complaints I've been reading online and so as the claim they're asking my renters insurance to cover is just way too much. I know Miss Amanda and Miss Melissa wasn't fond of me reporting my creepy neighbor who not only message me on Facebook but also kept asking me to come check out his apartment and have couple of drinks with him. After all the police reports I have provided them the management did nothing. I never felt so unsafe until I live in Nutmeg Woods Apartment. If I can give everyone advice please find a better apartment complex with better management. I will never live in this place again. Can't believe they charge me $700 after leaving that apartment. They said my countertop was new, I'm like if you guys would only see everything in my apartment is old. Including the carpet. read more

This is by far the worst place I have ever lived,and I lived in willimantic for a few years. The people that work hear basically trick you into thinking its a "nice" place. And the fact I pay over 1100 dollars a month I thought it actually would be. But far from the truth. There are cracks all over the walls from the foundation sinking, the countertops are extremely old, so instead of replacing them they jus painted them. And now it's impossible to clean without having the tacky paint come up as well. It's also lovely witnessing drug deals on a regular basis. Oh and I forgot to mention there is a single dumpster for trash that requires almost all the buildings in the complex to drive to drop trash, and don't you dare place a bag outside your door over night so you can bring it up in he morning, because they will stick lovely notes on your door saying they will fine you 50 dollars a bag if they see it again. Legit don't even have time to discuss the horrible parking design they have done as well. Please for your own sake DO NOT move into this place read more
