While visiting Washington. My boyfriend & I decided to stop by this store. The staff is so nice! Drinks were really good! Will be back for sure!

    Moxieberry

Popped in for a quick drink post run, this place has a lot of offerings- protein smoothies, energy drinks, protein pies/waffles/etc. Wasn't expecting to find this in Auburn. Shop owners are friendly and nice. Ordered the moxie (cherry lime and mixed berry) and squid game (cherry lime and blackberry) teas/specialty drinks. The squid game was energy focused, while the moxie had about 7 grams of protein. As they were making it, they asked if we wanted a regular or large (even though we ordered and paid for a regular). Drinks were fine! Would come back to try the protein smoothies, it's all plant based which is super cool. Shop was a little messy on the sides (toys, etc.) but I think it's got that lived in/place to hang vibe.

Service is okay - when speaking to the man behind the counter it felt like he didn't want to converse with us. We were asking questions/ suggestions and he kept it minimal. And the items just aren't delicious. I understand it's nutritional but this place doesn't make it enjoyable. I wouldn't spend money here. The flavor is simply just not good. And don't get the cheesecake, it comes in a bouncy playdoh form.

I had the el churro smoothie and it was flavorful, the protein used is plant based which I prefer. The space is pretty big but the windows make it really open and inviting. The owner was nice and set me up with a punch card. I would come back especially after a workout.

Tasty açaí bowl for $11! Owner was friendly and they have about a billion drink options. For healthy options, this is one option in the desert that is the south end.

Vanilla Peanut butter smoothie. Low carb.

I was always thought all mediterranean restaurants are the same, but this one is a little different for me. Everything has yogurt in it and I'm not too crazy about sour yogurt. The restaurant is in a little shopping center, there are actually quite a few places to park. The restaurant is very nice, clean and airy. It's a self order, and they bring the food to your table. The prices are around $20 a dish. My sister ordered all the dishes, pizza, chicken, wontons, they all looked delicious but the tastes are so different for me. The wontons are not as tasty as Chinese wontons and they're not soft. The chicken is tasty but not very flavorful. The yogurt is very sour and rich. I had some slices of pizza, but nothing to rave about. Anyhow, at least I know what Turkish food is like. This one is supposed to be the best one in Tacoma and my sister family love it. Like they say, it's not my cup of tea.

I'm giving four stars due to some of the noise of the blenders and the pounding of something in the kitchen made it very hard to talk at times with my sister. But if there was no super loud noises and I couldn't hear my sister talk from across the table. It would've got five stars all day. Other than that great service great food. I will definitely be coming here again! There are a lot of options for food which can be a little overwhelming. However, it is VERY reasonably priced. $15 for a toast is wild but that's how cafes price things everywhere. However, other cafes smear some avocado on toast and add a tomato and charge you $15, here they give you a whole meal with an egg on top, cucumbers and tomatoes, avocado, and more. It actually feels like it's worth your money. The coffee is good even though it's not too unique. I feel like they used to be a specialty coffee shop before they turned to the crepe/cafe scene. The coffee was very sweet though so I would highly recommend getting it half sweet. The crepe is good, stuffed well and worth the price. It is obviously sweet as well so it's hard to drink a very sweet coffee with a sweet crepe. The barista was kind and helpful with any questions I had when ordering. There was gentleman with a disability ordering before me and the barista was very patient and kind when taking his order. Seems like they have good people working here, which plays a big role in atmosphere.

Their spread included small bites of chicken and waffles, but because of my dietary preferences, I only sampled the waffles. I have to say I left that day feeling a bit disappointed, but I decided to give them another chance in the future. Fast-forward to this past spring for my college graduation party. For my food spread, I employed a mini "taste of the Tacoma-themed spread" with Buddy's as one of the options. I decided to order catering services from them. I have to say they really messed up. The order was placed and paid for three days in advance for pick-up (6 combos & 2 waffles). Their order wasn't ready; however, they made amends and comped us several items that we did not order for the inconvenience. More importantly, most of my guests from all across the U.S. spoke very highly of the chicken and waffles. That day I tried only the Strawberry Shortcake Waffle, and I once again felt unimpressed. But yesterday...yesterday was different. They say the third time is a charm. I arrived 30 minutes before closing, so I could only get carryout service. I was going to go with the options I've already tried: Blueberry and Strawberry Shortcake Waffles. While browsing the menu, I saw the Banana Cream Pie Waffle on the special board and decided to give it a try. This moment is where the story takes a significant turn. This is by far the best waffle I've had in the US. The waffle was amazingly fresh and crispy, coupled with a perfect blend of softness, a sprinkling of wafer crumbs, and bananas. This is by far my favorite waffle in all of Tacoma. In fact, anywhere in the world. I will give it a 20/10. If you are a vegetarian, I'd recommend ordering a serving of the crispy "Salt and Pepper Tofu" appetizer from Indo Asian Street Eatery to pair with these waffles. The pairing will get you close to or similar to the experience of the chicken strip pairing. I assure you there is no drop-off. My only complaint is paying $13 for a waffle. The waffle is a very nice size, and I do understand given current prices and the cost of doing business, but with $13 you can make several waffles in-house. But make no mistake. This is definitely worth it.

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #117…read more We visited Onit Cafe on a rainy Saturday afternoon in June, hoping to score an after lunch boba. Sprinting through the downpour, as we hadn't expected the rain, we threw ourselves into this modern, yet industrial shop, where we saw a couple of people sitting inside like us to wait out the rain. We placed our order with the friendly bobarista and got our drink within a couple of minutes. Jasmine Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, Less Ice w/ Boba ($6.75) - The milk tea has a heavy powdery creamer flavor, but it's not gritty or silty at all. Unfortunately it's so heavy that the drink tastes almost entirely like creamer with only a tiny bit of flowery finish. It's not the most pleasant flavor due to this quality. While the creamer is on the heavier end, the sweetness is not; at half sweet it's not too sweet. The boba is very good, super bouncy and chewy with basically the ideal texture. They aren't marinated that long so aren't quite that sweet or flavorful. Milk Tea Rating: 3/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Onit Cafe is one of those rare places where I liked the boba far more than the drink. I don't visit Federal Way too often, but if I'm even down there again, I'd give it another shot to see if I can get a better drink next time. The owner is delightful and engages you in conversation as she packs the food . The restaurant is showing its age, but remains one of the remaining soul food restaurants in South King County in Washington. I had the fried catfish, chicken, and fries. The thing about soul food is that it all about the seasonings. Now, I prefer the cornmeal/flour coating over batter; the owner does this well. The catfish was well seasoned and the fish was tender. This is the fine line between frying it until it's as dry as the desert or perfection as was done here. The same was for the chicken wings. Light coating, crunchy, and seasoned well. Now her cornbread is good, but she should throw her fires in the trash. They are overcooked and just a let down to an otherwise nice lunch experience. Since she only does take out or cater, the place looks more like a place of storage than a restaurant. It is quiet with mini refrigerators displaying desserts and soda. Surprisingly, the owner does not serve shrimp. A bit of a surprise and I would quickly get them for lunch if they were prepared as well as the catfish. I would rate higher, and keep in mind the the prices are higher than you would expect but happy to pay again if she smoothes out some of the edges of her space and sides that accompany such wonderful catfish and chicken.

Pulling into the parking lot, I have to admit I wondered if my GPS had developed a sense of humor. The restaurant sits in an older strip mall that doesn't exactly scream "destination dining," but the inside has a cozy, old-school Texas diner feel that was actually pretty charming. Unfortunately, convincing my two kids that this was a better choice than IHOP turned into a losing battle almost immediately. We waited over 40 minutes for our food, which, in kid time, is roughly equivalent to serving a prison sentence. Every five minutes I was reminded that pancakes at IHOP would have already been eaten, digested, and forgotten by then. To be fair, the food was good. I ordered the Philly Scramble, and my wife ordered the California Eggs Benedict. The quality was solid, but the pricing left me scratching my head. The California Eggs Benedict, which came with tomato, avocado, and bacon, was nearly $30. For comparison, I've paid less for Eggs Benedict at places in downtown Seattle. Seeing a $28.99 Eggs Benedict in a strip mall in Kent felt like finding luxury hotel prices at a gas station convenience store. The pricing surprises didn't stop there. There are extra charges for things like splitting orders, automatic gratuity, and add-ons. We had asked for strawberries with the French toast, which may have contributed to the final bill, but it wasn't entirely clear when I reviewed the receipt. Unfortunately, the handwriting on the check was difficult to read, making it hard to understand exactly how everything was itemized. Since I wasn't completely sure what had already been included, I ended up leaving an additional tip just to avoid accidentally shorting someone. By the end, breakfast for our family came out to around $115. Now, credit where it's due: the service itself was friendly, and once the food arrived, everyone enjoyed it. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and I can see why people like this place. The restaurant has a unique charm and definitely feels different from the typical chain breakfast spot. Overall, Mary's Fine Food serves good food and has a pleasant atmosphere, but the long wait times and pricing felt hard to justify for a family breakfast. Three stars. Not a bad meal, but next time my kids vote for IHOP, they may actually win the family election.
