The play was called "The Lying Kind". They perform in an intimate theater with very comfortable seats and the play was hilarious. The whole audience was laughing and having a great time. Single tickets are all under $30 and if you buy a subscription it's cheaper. We have friends that had a subscription last year so we went again and got one for this year. Really happy we did after only one play. There are three plays total this year and if they are even half as good as this one we will get our money's worth. It's great to check out the local talent of both actors and writers in a great venue. I highly recommend checking them out!

The Winninstad is an amazing Theatre and is perfect for the cutting edge performances and stage sets that TRR can produce. My only disappointed was discovering that as a student, I can save more by buying tickets individually over buying the season package's..they really need to fix that. Otherwise, great production, great group, great selection of plays and always a great time.

The theatre is lovely, good sound system, comfortable and easily accessible seating, excellent parking and a friendly staff.

This was my first time attending a show here. I almost missed out because I was a bit overwhelmed…read moreand didn't know where I was heading. My GPS was sending me to the wrong end of the community college and apparently, that is common for people, according to the staff. Be mindful and look for the little signs they put out when they have performances. I would have preferred getting there early especially since I completely missed getting an ADA parking spot. The parking lot is rather large but, for sold out shows - that's a challenge. The theater is pretty great! There's many seats, a creative layout and I was shocked, they could tuck the orchestra above the stage so we could see the conductor a touch. With the layout it feels almost intimate.

Rising Phoenix Theater is a small community theater that I just happened upon while reading a local…read moreFacebook page. I saw they were doing their first play, so I decided to support their efforts. I saw A Company of Wayward Saints on March 16th, and I thought it was excellent!($12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students.) The play was performed on a small stage in a church with very little theatrical "stuff", but they did a really good job with what they had. The acting was good. The costumes were topnotch, the set was clever, and the play was fun to watch. The program showed that they also do improv, so I went to that show, too. The improv show is called Spontaneous Combustion, and I saw it on April 5th. The ticket was only $7-- at that price, I figured I could take the risk. I was very glad I did. Such a funny show! It's the kind of improv they did on the tv show, Whose Line is it, Anyway? The players were hilarious! There was some audience participation, too. Just voluntary-- nothing embarrassing. The show started at 7:30 and went till 9:00-- lots of laughs and fun for only $7! The emcee said they did the improv shows about once a month, so I am keeping my eye on their Facebook page to see when the next one is. I'll be there! Support local stuff!

I attended a performance last night of "Notes From the Field". It was my first time at this venue…read moreand I was impressed with every aspect of the venue and the play. Seats were comfortable and you could see the stage from every seat.. The sound system was perfect and oh my gosh, the performance was outstanding. This is a one person play, and Ramona Lisa Alexander was amazing. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout the entire performance, and it brought tears, laughter and a much greater knowledge of the black experience. I will be coming here often if this is a reflection of what happens in this space! Bravo Portland Playhouse and everyone involved in this production!!

A mix of learning and refining acting skills, on-camera work, and audition drills. And since Shelly was steeped in the rough and tumble of Hollywood, you can trust he knows what works, and he can answer those questions only someone whose been on the front lines of high-end TV/Film production will know. His acting notes are incisive, spot on. I was a better actor when classes ended than I was when they began. What was really fun was watching my classmates get better right in front of my eyes, and absolutely confirmed the effectiveness of his instruction. HIGHLY recommend Shelly, regardless of your skill level.

First time watching a Sweeney Todd life action play and it was amazing! The folks running the show…read moreand the concession stand were super nice..and everyone was dressed up in character which was really cool. Vibes were on point as well and spookily perfect. You get lead into a dark hall filled with fog until you get to your seat. The cast was also amazing as well! There were times when I felt like I was being transported to watching the actual movie. And the cherry on top was that the entire show which lasted almost 3 hours was so affordable!
