Worst financial institution ever. I paid off my car loan a month ago and they still haven't mailed me the title. I have called 6 times asking for it...I was told it was put in the mail the day after I paid it off. I called 2 weeks later and they said they would put it in certified mail asap. I called a week later and they sent it out the night before?? I was given a fedex tracking number, now another week later fed ex said it's an invalid number and they have nothing coming to me from Denali. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. My husband passed away, and they froze our account, then proceeded to take the money out of my account to the tune of 50k they froze until they sold the truck. HA! I just saw a lawyer. Lawyer stated my husband clearly signed a death and dismemberment clause, they tried to cover it up and bully me. They owe me the balance of the truck (which they not only froze my account, they came and took the truck even though I was current on everything) What an unprofessional establishment. Worst credit union I've EVER dealt with. I'm closing my account with them. I enrolled both of my jobs on direct deposit. Funds are never available to me until 9am. I can't wait to get trade my car so I don't have to deal with them and go through elsewhere. They've blocked my account and held my funds due to their lack of updating my information when I've already spoke with someone and was taken care of. Now they're saying there's absolutely nothing I can do. My debit should be able to work after 10 days. Do they even have the rights to hold my money on my personal checking because they made a mistake and I'm not delinquent on my car loan and they got proof of my insurance. This credit union makes me sick. I'll make sure everyone knows. They don't deserve a star. Crooks! read more

Over the years I have had several different loans through Denali and always have had great experiences with them. I currently live on the southern Kenai peninsula with the closest branch being over an hour drive. The only reason I gave 4 stars and the only thing keeping me from moving all my banking to Denali is that there is no branch in Homer. Please build a branch in Homer! read more

This bank's customer service is horrible 13 people in the que, and people just sitting around. It's mid day at 1620 and only 3 tellers working. I only come here because my home credit union is out of state. I wouldn't join here and I would give it 0 stars if I was able to!!!! read more

I have my auto loan through Denali, and it is almost impossible to get on the phone with someone to pay my monthly bill. I have to call multiple times a day, sometimes multiple days in a row to get through. It is extremely frustrating! Then when you do get on the phone and think you finally are going to get through to be able to pay your bill they take your contact information and say someone will call you back in the same day. They also charge you to make your payments over the phone, which I get most companies do. However after all the work I have to put in to make a payment I feel like I shouldn't have to pay. This company is assbackwards, I would never want to have a loan with them again! Do not recommend! read more

While all the people I've interacted with have been lovely, the overall experience with working with/banking at Denali FCU has been a nightmare. The acquisition by NuVision only made it worse - now I have my money at Denali and mortgage with NuVision, and it has led to automatic payments not being made, no phone number to call, and overall a general air of confusion. This bank, now NU Vision has caused so many problems since they changed over. Not only did 3 months prior to their change, the issued new account numbers so i had to change all my bills and deposits to reflect this change that they said would benefit the customer..but then less then 3 months later, this buy out happens. Commence changing deposits and bills again. THEN every auto pay was rejected by the bank, including my mortgage! They say do make changes to your bills until april 1st or 3rd 2019 and then you wait and then by april 5th they reject everything if you haven't changed the info! Calling them your on hold for an average of 45min. Then my debit card was shut off because i purchased groceries at a store 10min away because they said it looked fraudulent. Mind you, this was a 3 day weekend on day one. Then every single day for 2 weeks i got daily calls verifying every single transaction i had made, if i didn't answer due to i was working, they shut off my card. They are extremely rude to speak with, flag your debit card for everything, lied about being able to use your old checks and declined my IRS payment!. The list goes on. My advice is bank elsewhere if you want to be treated like you matter. Its sad, because up until about 2 years ago, this bank (denali), was the best bank and i loved them and referred them to everyone. Ive banked with them over 30 years and to them now and this NU Vision, they could care less and treat you as such. My mom called me in tears after Denali Alaskan FCU charged her over $100 in overdraft transfer fees. Now, the new overdraft law states that a bank or credit union must get the customers consent to pay overdrafts, which in my mom's case they did not. So why they continued to charge her fees is beyond me. When I called to discuss their overdraft practices with them they proceeded to tip toe around the law and tried to tell me that this overdraft transfer service that my mom had on her account was separate from the new overdraft law (which it should not be since it is still overdrafts) so with this little loophole that they created, they were charging fees even though my mom was opted out. Then they tried to lie to my mom and tell her that there was no way for her to opt out, it just wasn't an option. When we finally got through to a supervisor (who then proceeded to throw it in my moms face that she's always had trouble with overdrawing her account and why was she just now calling about it) she very reluctantly offered to waive only half of the fees that shouldn't have been charged in the first place, and that was after arguing for 15 minutes. Only after writing an angry email to Denali Alaskan FCU and contacting the BBB and the attorney general did we finally get a call back from another supervisor who refunded the rest of the fees. It shouldn't have been this hard. I have worked in banking for the past 6 years and I have never had a worse experience than this. When I am up in Alaska for Christmas I will be helping my mom move her money to another financial institution since Denali Alaskan clearly does not have it's members best interests in mind. read more

This is by far the WORST bank I have ever banked with. DO NOT BANK WITH DENALI FCU 1. Our debit card was scanned at an ATM abroad, then it was used months later to withdraw over 1000.00 from an ATM in Texas--while we used our other accounts simultaneously in Fairbanks. How the bank didn't catch it, and immediately suspend the account is beyond me. The banker has acknowledged it was identity theft, yet they are making us wait during a lengthy investigation before they refund our money. Why are they doing this?? Because apparently the bank is not insured by the feds. 2. Don't bank with them because they aren't insured. 3. Purchases pop up on the online ledger, then they drop for a few days, then they come back on, sometimes they will come off again--this makes it next to impossible to balance our accounts properly, and has led to overdrafts.... 4. After banking with Denali FCU for 15 years, my husband spaced out giving them proof of insurance for our new truck. We received a letter, but it was too late. We were literally two days past the date to show insurance, and they slapped another 1000.00 on the auto loan to cover the cost of their insurance company for ONE month on the truck. Beware of their bill pay procedures. Auto pay or scheduled payment funds are removed from your account early morning eastern time zone long before a direct deposit pay check is credited the same morning. I am paid on Fridays and therefore cannot schedule auto pay until the following Monday if my paycheck is needed to cover the amount. It appears to be a way of entrapping customers so they can charge fees. read more

We have been a loyal customer for over 5 years and have had nothing but issues since the merger with Nu Vision. It has been a NIGHTMARE and no one has been able to resolve the multiple issues we have been experiencing. We are closing all of our accounts and taking our business elsewhere. Customer Service here is hit or miss. While the merger is occurring a late payment occurs on our CC account, which should not happen because we are on automatic payments. No one calls to be like, "Hey, your payment did not go through" like they do every month because Denali FCU could NEVER figure out why the automatic payment was not working. So the merger happens and during this time no one reaches out to my family to, again, to be like "Hey, the automatic payment did not go through...again". Come April, my husband talks to a representative again that states "Yes, I see that you have automatic payment set up. I see that you have inquired why it wasn't working multiple times. I will send this account to IT". Now we are in the middle of a refinance and the Late Payment shows up on our credit report. FIRST ISSUE EVER WITH A PAYMENT. And now our refinance will not go through unless Denali states they are at all fault. My husband calls customer service, talks to a woman named Sarah, and she verbally admits "Yes, I see all these inquiries about why it isn't working. Yes it is documented that you set it up and it is not going through. I will not remove the late payment from your credit report, "TAKE IT UP WITH THE BUREAU!" she tells him. So here is Denali admitting that something is wrong with the system and that they did nothing to figure it out or even suggest a solution. I go to a branch and speak with a gentlemen, who again admits that "Yes, I see that you set up automatic payments. I see the multiple attempts to determine the problem and that nothing came of it". The gentlemen took the time to find the ERROR. The account number for the automatic payment was incomplete. 5 MINUTES FOR HIM TO USE HIS COMMON SENSE AND LOOK AT THE ORIGINAL APPLICATION AND SEE THE PROBLEM. My husband spoke every month to an agent and no one could ever figure out the issue. So now, the incompetence of this bank has basically put my whole refinance in jeopardy. The kind gentlemen at the bank even wrote a letter admitting fault of Denali for not following through with the error in the automatic payment account. I have never been so disappointed with customer service. 8 MONTHS of people not figuring out the problem on the account!! 8 months of late payment fees because the automatic payment wasn't working. And now because of the merger, no one called in March to let us know that it didn't work. So here we are...Denali admitting they messed up and my refinance up in the air. read more

Do not use this credit union. Th ry are TERRIBLE. we have made out car payments every month on time. Have been sending them the insurance information monthly since October. They repisessed the car 2 nights ago and no one will call me or ralk to me. My credit score is now TERRIBLE. My crefit score was 780 prior to dealing with them.it is now like 540. I like them. Since I have moved to Anchorage they have taken care of me. Way better than the banks did back home. Yeah they charge fee's like the rest, but they take care of you. CU1 is a good CU too in Anchorage. I think these two are tied for the best. read more

This bank doesn't know how to handle customer care. we had a loan trade in process going with a great dealership. we called the bank first to get pre approved. and we were approved for the loan. we already had a loan with them on a vehicle all we were doing was trading in our first vehicle. after we drove off with the trade in a day later the bank had dropped our loan. even after we were approved of the loan. be very careful who you get a loan through. don't go to Denali alaskan. read more

I also filled my proof of car ensurance and (as complained by others) someone forgets to file in account so it becomes a 6 month ordeal to have to re submit proof. APP has also alot to be desired. This change over from nuvision cu is a mess. Cant get ahold of anybody or get payments to my Visa thru homebanking. Just got off the phone with Tanisha who was having issues with what account I had, finally told her what to look for then her system was having problems hope my payment is made and get my rd riot to prove it was paid on time. Very frustrated and the long numbers added to my account is even more frustrating when my 5 digit number worked fine, why break something when it was working fine in the first place. read more

Horrible experience! I purchased a vehicle from the Nissan Dealer, they financed the loan through Denali Federal Credit Union. I kept getting calls from them for credit cards and bank account offers which I declined. 2 year later I get letters showing that I have a bank account with them. I called to resolve it, they said I have to come into the branch to close it. Months later I get a letter stating that they are charging me $10 a month for "dormant" fee. Can you believe it! I never opened the damn account and they want to charge me $10 a month. I called again, still unable to close it, now I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to resolve the issue. My car lone has been paid off for over a year, I have never opened any accounts with this business and I will NEVER WILL! read more

This Bank, DENALI FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is a shame as an institution. My husband recommended me to open an account with them because is very near our job. We went, we apparently opened an account for both and a week later he tried to deposit 2000.00 $ and they told him that he wasn't added in my account. We went together and they told us that they don't accept him in my account, in HIS WIFE ACCOUNT, because he has a low credit score but I had the feeling in that moment that the the real problem was discrimination for being a foreign man. They reason for not allow him to be add in my account (low credit score) IN HIS WIFE ACCOUNT, is pretty stupid. This is my first job in America and my credit score is Zero and I had in that moment a checking and saving account, and I had in that moment because after watching how they treat my husband I decided to close immediately my account and taking our 2000.00 $ and go the hell out of that shameful institution. I believe in credit unions in theory. I actually have a plan and need for this credit union but the tellers are un intelligible when you speak to them. They will give you variable service depending entirely upon their perceptions of the social demographic and attendant imputed bad motives attributable to your shade. They spend an inordinate amount of time reviewing funds you have among your similar institutions. The info they are not entitled to see annoys them before they begin on your mundane transaction causing interpersonal relationships with their tellers to become insufferable. Furthermore, they will give a receipt when they feel like it. Imagine if that was the norm at the grocery store instead of this licensed somewhere credit union. read more

I have been a member since 1985 and have always thought very highly of Denali FCU and wouldn't consider leaving there until recently. Since they have been taken over by Nuvision, their phone customer service has dropped to the bottom and their call center is one of the worst I have ever had to deal with. You used to speak to people in Alaska and they were great. Now you get some call center out of state that is always a 20-30 minute ordeal just to find out they can't help anyway.Their online banking app used to function nearly flawlessly and now you can't make simple transfers between accounts (Mortgage, vehicle and personal) where your money is deposited, and loans and other accounts. The only one that is still simple is transferring to their Visa card. I have had to go to branches to make transfers 3-4 times a month because the service reps at the call centers can't make them either. They are no longer a convenience and just another frustrating corporate owned bank. The only bright spot is the tellers that work in Alaska still are awesome! But Nuvision, not so much. read more

I too have been sent in circles for two months by loan control and customer service in regard to a loss of my insurance paperwork and a charge of over $1000 to my account. I was even told by a manager that they were too busy to help me and to give them 24 hours to fix the situation.... though I didnt hear from them until 48 hours later. I have been spoken to in a condescending manner and made to feel like my problem did not matter, and that I did not understand the problem. Meanwhile my credit is being reported on and interest is being charged to my account for their mistake. Someone called me today to explain my whole problem to me... like I hadn't been the one explaining EXACTLY what had happened to them for the last 2 months. Supposedly it will be fixed soon, we'll see. HAHA read more

I signed up for a savings account with Denali. When I called customer service to ask for something I could show my job with my new account number, etc, so direct deposit could be set up, I was informed that the name I had given them over the phone didn't match the name on the account. Turns out the lady setting up my account put the wrong name down. Well, Nick cleared that up for me, and said I should be getting the email I could give to my boss within a few hours. A few hours pass, I call Nick back, he said by the end of business. 9 day's later I receive the email...9 days! Also, my neighbor brought over some mail for me, turns out it was from Denali. So not only did they have my wrong first name, sent an email 8 days late, they don't even have my correct address! I went into the branch were I opened the account and closed it. I got another letter from Denali, well my neighbor did, a week and 3 days after I closed my account. Oh, and all this for an account I had open for 1 week, cost me $10, non refundable, the fee they charge to close an account. RE-DIC-U-LOUS!! I do have a suggestion...why not when an account is open, the teller do a print screen or something of the sort and show it to the customer, so the customer can verify their information is correct. This was a horrible experience. I told the person who referred me about my horrible experience and she said she wouldn't refer anyone else and I'm letting people I work with, everyone know to steer clear. I would hate to see what they would do to me if I had actually put my paycheck in their care. read more

I decided to set up an account with Denali Alaskan because I wanted to support a local credit union. Unfortunately they randomly froze my account over an over again for no reason. One time I called to get information over the phone and didn't pass my own "security screening" questions, and the guy hung up on me. Later they called to apologize because the man helping me had been looking at the wrong account information. Then after my wallet was stolen they sent me a new debit card and pin but the pin didn't work, and because I tried using a faulty pin my account was frozen. This happened right before I was going on an international trip during which time I had no access to cash. I was working in an area with no access to shared branching, and after I returned they said they would send me a new "functional" pin in the mail, which never came. At that point I called them again and they said yet another time they would send another pin, which also didn't arrive. When I called them they said they had no record of either request. Something is seriously wrong with the organizational skills of this bank. I want to support local businesses but they make so many errors than impede my ability to access my own money, that I just cannot recommend banking with them. read more

I only put a one because the ratings would not go into a negative. DFCU is the worse possible place to do business. We have filled out the form for my spouse to speak to them about our loan, plus, she is on both accounts. We have gone down 7 times in person and 5 faxes with the proper form. They refuse to allow her to conduct business. Our money has gone into the account every month; however, it is never transferred (we have automatic transfer) to the loan. When I speak to the representatives, they have no access to any information other than the loan. They are crippled by a lack of knowledge regarding the available monies. All they are able to do is tell us that they need the money. Which is already in the account but they cannot transfer said funds nor do they have access to the account. Denali Federal Credit Union is ruining our credit. Every month they post us late, every month we have to physically transfer the money. Again. They refuse to allow us to send the money directly to the loan. We have to have an account and then they take the monies out. We've attempted to send it directly to the account. Which they do not do stating we had to have a checking account and then the money transferred from there into the loan. We attempted to pay more than the payment. We were told they only accept full payments or the pay-off. If you want to chance your credit, deal with filling out the same form every month, in person, and then repeat it all next month, have all your monies available but not transferred unless you go down in person (not over the phone or on-line...eeek there may be identify theft if you pay on-line!), a place that cannot seem to keep up with its own records and files, and deal with a bank that puts its employees in a situation so that people are angry at them then you've come to the right place. In the end you'll wish you were the poor person knifed at the end of a Greek Tragedy rather then deal with such inefficiency. I'd rather gouge out my eyes then have to bank with them again. read more
