Because I was naive and trusted what she told me about electrolysis, I had electrolysis performed by weekly for over a year. While the amount of hair is reduced, I'm left with permanent scars all over my skin. After getting one area treated for six months, I saw no noticeable reduction. She does not follow minimum hygeine standards for electrolysis either. Really, electrologists should wear gloves and use a new set of sterilizied equipment for each client. Amy doesn't even always wash her hands! and uses the same tweezers from one client to the next. (Rubbing tweezers with alcohol is not sufficient to sterilize them.) I also found the electrolysis more painful than other electrolysis I've experienced since. In terms of lack of professionalism, my appointments were often cancelled and were never for as long as I booked. Amy would often answer and talk on the phone while performing electrolysis. There is also no privacy - other clients can see you sprawled out and exposed when they go to use the washroom. There are many other electrologists who offer superior services to Amy's. They may be slightly more expensive, but the electrolysis is more hygenic, less painful, doesn't scar, and, most importantly, is more effective! Getting electrolysis can be a highly emotional experience for some, but you don't settle on an electrologist just because they're nice.

At the time I was calling while waiting at a walk-in clinic and the owner Darlene (?) said that I would have to return to Ottawa to verify that it was her salon's mistake and not something I have done. When I offered to show her a photograph she also said that would not confirm that I did not mutilate my own crotch. I was stunned that this woman would not credit me $30 and implied that I may have intentionally ripped my skin off my body. I am part Asian and my skin scars dark. The effected area is at the seam of my pubic area and my leg and I have had to sit wide legged and lubricated with polysporon to help the skin grown back. This is the complete opposite of the sexy that i thought I would feel and will last way longer than the wax job.
