They completely tore up and redid a poorly done, incomplete, and over budget kitchen countertops and tile project that had been started a few months prior. Kudos to them for being responsive, providing a written estimate, and taking on his redo project. I found some or all of those qualities missing with many of the contractors I contacted. Three sets of people worked on the project on successive days. Because of my prior experience I was a little nervous. I liked that the company had been around for decades with mostly positive reviews. The first person tore up, built and installed new counters. He did a fantastic job and put me at ease. I also found him respectful, communicative when needed, and completed the work at twice the speed of my prior contractor. The second two people installed the tile and did it quickly with attention to making everything right. The final two people grouted and caulked the tile. I wasn't impressed with them and didn't appreciate that they walked away with my hardly used 15 lb. bag of grout without asking me. I did find it odd to have so many people work on one small project but it got the job done. The biggest challenge was communication. It wasn't always timely and my phone number wasn't given out correctly once. This resulted in unexpected delays and people showing up unexpectedly. I also called Mike at the end of the project to tell him about the bag of grout. I never got a call back for over a week. We did resolve it and I listened to his perspective on why it happened, which sounded more like an excuse to me but didn't matter at that point. I would like to give them a 3 1/2 star rating but that's not possible. Four stars seems too much and 3 seems not enough. if I ever used them again I would be careful with the communication and expectations while the job was in progress.

Jeremy came out that day to do a walk through and provide a quote. He was both extremely knowledgeable and professional. Racist and unprofessional! This review is by an installer and not a customer. On first meeting…read moreDerek, several months ago, one of the first things he said to me was "I'm looking for a good, white, English speaking installer to represent my company." I should have walked out then but thought I needed the work. He didn't pay me for nearly two months on a several jobs I did for him. When we did finally meet up he was yelling and calling me names and even threatened to not pay. He then complained about having to work with immigrant installers who don't speak English very well. In short, because of his racist and overall unprofessional behavior and running of his store I will no longer be installing for him and cannot recommend his store to other installers or customers.

Paul Nezbeda, who owns P&F Construction, does fantastic tile work! We've used him on three…read moredifferent projects now and he has done a superb job on each one. First, we used him to tile our two bathrooms to replace the hideous plastic green flooring the previous owner left behind. Our second project, and one I think has added thousands of dollars to the value of our home, is the tile job he did on our fireplace, replacing the ugly soot covered mid-50's brick, with gorgeous white tile. He also, as part of that job, installed a black fireplace insert that looks very elegant with the white tile and adds immeasurably to the beauty of the room. I have gotten so many compliments on this fireplace, even from other contractors doing work in another part of the house. His third project was to replace the tile flooring in our laundry room. We used this lovely veined white tile that looks great, but what blew us away was the work he did on the two stairs leading down into the laundry room. He placed the tile in a lovely configuration, a design that we would never had contemplated were it left up to us. But he's more than a craftsman, he's an artist and this is where it shows. He's very precise, EXTREMELY thorough (so much so that he came back three times just to replace the old metal threshold slat--which he paid for himself!--so it more closely resembled the new floor). He worked throughout the entire weekend in 90+ heat just so we could get our laundry room back and be able to do a wash. Best of all, he is much more affordable than other places, especially flooring companies that have high over head and contract the work out, only to inflate the project price so they can take their cut. He cleans up after himself, is extremely accommodating about working around schedules, and always pleasant and good-natured. I can't recommend him highly enough. He is an old world Czech and takes great pride in his work.

Also received a quote for a refinish that we will do within the year. They thoroughly explained the process and were open to any time frame we had. Both my husband and I were here, and they were good talking to either one of us about the work they had completed as well as the refinishing job we would have them do in the future. They were not pushy or rude, but very helpful and polite. Needless to say, we were impressed and will be using them in the future.
