Located in a pristine, gem of a studio Vidya Wellness can be found on the east side of Main street…read moreacross from the American Legion. I just experienced the incredible lightness of being after taking Jaquetta's ( Jak- KET'- ah) Friday 5:30 pm Yin Yoga class. For greater detail on the topic * scroll to the end of this review, and read below the * asterisk. You don't need to know your Yin from your Yang in order to get the full benefits of a Yin Yoga Class. Yin is the kind of sit-on-your-ass-class... a tradition or style of yoga you'll most likely get your weekend football -watching husband to join you with. Bring him along to Jaquetta's class where I noticed folks of all ages and sizes and genders. The relaxed pace is taught by the very beautiful ( inside and out) and charming Jaquetta. A Yogini who knows her stuff. What better way to top off a busy work-week than with a mellow- but-good-for-your-circulation Yin class? Jaquetta's Yin class is an on-going Friday pm affair. Make it a habit, and you'll share the ride with a few friendly locals. One of my favorite things about a yoga practice is that it's very individual. One can make being part of the yoga community in Lebanon Oregon as social or solitary as one wishes. I was introduced to Jaquetta's class my meditation instructor, Raleigh. I can be a little anti-social, so this is a safe place to be "alone in a crowd " if you catch my drift. The yoga/spiritual community here is in full harmony with Lebanon's well established church traditions,, so please bear in mind that Yoga, the yolking of mind and body is simply a system for Self-care that is never in conflict with our biblical Teachings, lifestyle, beliefs, traditions, and rituals. ### *What is Yin Yoga? Yin is often mistaken for Restorative Yoga, like Restorative yin yoga is a passive yoga practice that is slow with very few postures that are held for more extended periods of time. But instead of focusing on relaxation, yin yoga focuses on improving mobility so that you can sit more comfortably and for a longer time in meditation. Yin yoga poses target the connective tissue around your joints to improve range of motion and flexibility. Yin yoga poses are almost all seated poses, and each pose is held for between 1 to 20 minutes, although typically, the length is between 3 to 7 minutes for beginners. Holding poses for these extended periods helps to target deeper into the fascia or the matrix of connective tissue spread throughout the entire body.
