I was looking for a local plant store and found this place with the help of Yelp. I had a great experience! My friend and I were looking to add to our personal plant collections. I've been looking for a medium/large size plant and my friend was looking for a cat friendly plant. The owner gave us great insight and recommendations! Customer service was 5/5! He helped me load a relatively large plant into my car. The shop itself was so aesthetically pleasing. There is an unique assortment of plants and pots. They also sell soaps and candles.

Saw this cute plant shop as I was heading to the subway last week. They are conveniently located just off the R train on Steinway Street. There were a couple of cute and unusual looking succulents displayed outside their storefront which made me want to go in. The shop mainly sells succulents (hence the name) but I saw that they also had some other plants like ferns, mini orchids, aloe and cacti. They also sell hand-crafted candles and soaps and small pottery. Staff were very friendly and made a point of chatting with customers, answering questions, etc. I would say this store a great option if you are looking for a housewarming gift, a plant for your office, looking to decorate your home or whatnot.

Houseplant Arrangement Class - I highly recommend!

I haven't written a Yelp post in a very long time so this means a lot for me to write this review. I saw a post on NY City Succulent's Instagram promoting their Houseplant Arrangement class and my friend and I quickly registered online. As soon as we got there, we were mesmerized by all of beautiful plants and the large variety they had in store (that pun was intended). Our class of 8 was fit comfortably in the space with Stephanie and Julio as our knowledgeable and passionate instructors. They were super friendly and were very open to the myriad of questions the group had. Aside from learning about different ways to style our plants, their needs, and other classes, they shared with us how meticulously and thoughtfully planned everything was about NY City Succulents. From the planter colors to the candle selection to their Instagram posts, everything has been carefully decided to stay current with today's trends vs the older shops in the area. For the $50, we were able to take home two plants with a medium sized planter. Considering each plant was $20, this was a great deal. I highly recommend this as a wholesome date night activity. Even if you don't come for a class, pop in the store anyways!

This was sold to me from julio of nycsucculents on their Etsy store for $97.08, save your money.

Julio sold me a dying variegated banana musa on his Etsy store: nycsucculents. It took very long to get a tracking update from him, after I got my order the plant was not doing well at all, I reached out to tell him the heater pack burn the plant and it's very soft, I sent him a photo and his first response was "I see a new leaf", "keep me updated". The plant was kept in a humidity dome with proper moisture and temperature, it was dead. I reached out to show Julio the plant is dead sending a photo and have been ignored since January 27th. $97.08 for a dead plant shipped from what had to be a third party is way too expensive for anyone to pay. Do not make my mistake go somewhere trustworthy and cares about their customers. If I could give less stars I would.

Latino owned Family business alert!! Absolutely love coming here! The owners are so knowledgeable and passionate about plants and it creates a inviting and warm environment. Their planters are absolutely beautiful! Every plant I've gotten from here FLOURISH! I've also done one of their plant arrangement classes where they teach you how to repot plants. You get to keep what you arrange which includes a plant or succulent, planter, soil and decorative rocks. I've included a picture of the plant I arranged. The classes are such a cute and fun idea for a date or activity to do with your friends.

Was hesitant of this place at first with the prices, but upon researching I found that their prices are pretty standard for boutique plant stores. I bought a small snake plant and a pot and it came to $70. It was worth it for the personalized touch, they potted it very aesthetically as in my photo. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly but doesn't hover over you while you're browsing.

A great spot to find unique plants! I haven't been able to find a String of Hearts plant anywhere else in all of Astoria. This place has a nicely curated variety of succulents & cacti, and a lot of nice leafy plants. They also have a unique assortment of pots, ranging from minis to larger ones for floor plants. Other giftable items include lovely candles and soaps made in Upstate NY. I have a TON of plants already so I wound up getting an amazing smelling citrine candle, and some pebbles to decorate a particular plant I have at home. It's a good place for plant accessories like moss poles etc. Some of the plants I found a bit overpriced for my budget, you can find them at the other stores nearby for cheaper, but the unique ones you really can't find elsewhere and are well worth the price! I'll definitely stop by again to see newness.

Stumbled upon this store while walking in the neighborhood and I'm so happy that there is a rare plant shop in Astoria! The owner kindly re-potted my plant for me before I brought it home. All the plants look happy and healthy and the store owners are very knowledgeable. I look forward to my next purchase here.

My monstera after NY City Succulents finished repotting her!

Now look, I only really review places I'm pleased with, so my reviews are all 5 stars. But let me tell you, if I could give NY City Succulents 10 stars I damn well would!! I normally do all my reporting/soil changes myself, as I don't trust anyone else to handle my plants. However, my monstera's just gotten too big to handle alone, so a friend mentioned to me that he'd recently taken his bird of paradise in to NY City Succulents for the same reason and highly recommended them. Considering A.) I got this guy into plants, and B.) he's about as discerning as they come, I decided to suck it up and give them a call. For a SUPER reasonable price, they were willing to repot in a provided pot or do a soil change- I ended up doing a soil change, as I couldn't find a nursery pot at the right size. Because of that, I was a bit worried my monstera might be rootbound and told them they could do any trimming or adjusting as needed to get her happy in her current pot. Upon picking her up, boy was I immediately pleased! She looks so happy in the new soil, clearly she was handled with the utmost care- not a single injured leaf, and the owner was clearly as in love with her as I am! They let me know the state of her roots, any and all changes they needed to make, and let me know that she was overall super healthy, which I was thrilled to hear. I will absolutely be back for any repotting needs, as well as to add to my collection (even tho I swore I was done) as they have a number of hard to find variants I haven't found in the city. In particular- whale tail and moonshine sansevieria, two of my must haves! Definitely stop in if you love your plants

She responds to all my emails with questions in less than 24 hours. She also gives me lots of good advice on what plants to make for my place. Her customer service is so good that I feel like I owe her a nice review ( and I rarely write any)! I bought 3 large and 1 small plants from her namely bird of paradise, a pathos , snake plant and nanouk form her and couldn't be happier! They all look as good as the photos online if not better. I tried a few other places and often end up disappointed. You can watch her videos showing her newly arrived plants. You will then see how nice all her plants are and what you will be getting! Her pricing is very reasonable (I'm price sensitive esp under covid). You may be able to find other places with slightly lower price point but believe me , you will get the best value from her. Plants will be with you for a super long time and you want to get something healthy and nice. I made the mistake of going for the cheapest place I can find when I first started and end up getting subpar plants and services ( broken plants/super long response time/generic plant advice). I still don't know what to do with my broken plant at home coz I feel bad throwing it away... She also doesn't push you to buy something more expensive but gives you her honest recommendation. ( I thought about getting a. Bigger zz plant instead of the snake plant which would cost much more but stick with her original recommendation becoz it would look better in my space and she was right!) Her self watering planters are very convenient and very pretty. I sometimes forget to water my plants and I am a frequent traveler prior to covid. So self watering planters would be of huge help. I bought pot mix, fertilizer, sprayer and plant waterer from her as well. You can tell she is a person with passion and high standard towards plants and the pot mix/fertilizer she picked must be the best. I love my plant waterer and it makes watering a delight every day. I really enjoy all her videos on YouTube which gives you ideas how to take care of various plants, how to decor your room etc. Photos below do not show 100% how nice the plants look but I'm sharing them it to give everyone an idea. I called Plant Le Bacle and spoke to Michael (I believe he is the owner). He was absolutely wonderful. He spent time explaining what will work (and last) and what won't- told me not to spend too much on plants now since they will mostly die in Nov anyway- he didn't try to sell me anything- but instead he gave me his honest opinion about what will work and what won't. He even asked me to send him pictures of my balcony so he can help me more. For someone who is new to city gardening I couldn't have called anyone more helpful and honest- so glad I called!

(The most important part) We fully acclimate our plants. Other companies ship plants directly from Florida to offices in New York. The drop in lighting is significant, which causes the plants to go into shock. This reduces the chance for the plants to survive in New York. Our plants are much heartier because they are already prepared for the low light office conditions. The office plants we sell are also guaranteed to be of the best quality available. When you call PLB you will be talking to experts with over 40 years of experience in the indoor and outdoor horticultural business. A large part of our business is installing and maintaining office plants. Maintenance and care includes watering, cleaning, pruning, preventing and killing insects, and plant replacement (at our expense) should your plant die. Michael's (the owner) love of the outdoors keeps the business involved in designing and installing apartment terraces and penthouse terraces. The important part of outdoor work is picking the right species of trees and bushes for each location. Even though Manhattan is in zone 6B, which is very misleading, when the North West Wind (the killer wind) blows, temperatures will plummet. The vegetation freezes and the wind dehydrates and kills it. Example last year. *Our New York address is just our office. Please call.

She is always available to speak with her clients and pays *SUCH* attention to detail. From the initial proposal you receive through the date of your event, working with Xylem and Phloem is seriously a dream. My husband and I met with Jenah prior to our wedding and we were both so impressed with how knowledgeable she is and also, how easy she is to talk to about your vision. Her passion is only exceeded by her talent. We had a certain budget in mind that we didn't want to go over. Jenah worked with us to make sure our vision was brought to life while not going over this amount. I walked into our wedding venue (The Metropolitan Building in LIC) and was speechless. She had basically taken our vision and made it 1000x better than we could have ever imagined. So many of our guests called us after the wedding to ask who created everything and how Jenah was able to source such big, beautiful flowers. Another special touch- Jenah walked me around the entire space to show me the arrangements and make sure I loved them. She brought over my bouquet (which was the prettiest I've ever seen) to ensure it was what I wanted so she could make any necessary changes (none were needed- it was breathtaking). My husband later told me that she made 2 boutineers for him to choose from. She takes the time to think ahead and really gives you choices right until the moment you walk down the aisle. It's just the kind of person she is and we love her for it. We loved working with her and really hope our paths cross again. We would recommend absolutely anyone to her.
