Dr. Taryn Katz is everything great we had heard AND MORE! I only wish we had switched sooner. The care and attention she gave my nervous daughter was incredible. We both felt cared for and listened to. Dr. Katz was genuinely kind and knowledgeable throughout. I can not imagine going to another pediatric dentist. Plus the no cavity of the month club is super clever and the staff were incredibly helpful from our very first phone call. They are diligent in contacting insurance to get as much as possible covered. Glad to be with this practice! read more

Who says great pediatric dentistry cannot be found North of the city??? During a frantic search for a dentist to help with a cuspid casualty, we stumbled upon Dr. Cooper and his professional staff. Personally, I have terribly tusks. One could even say I am the owner of insubordinate ivory incisors.... Needless to say, Ive seen many dentist offices. From the first step inside I was beckoned to the modern front desk, riddled with computers of all shapes and sizes. To my left, a rotunda of Apples, computers that is- about 6 of them all loaded up with inviting games and graphics. Flat Screen TVs abound. The examination rooms entail the perfect blend between professional functionality and, well, FUN- perfect for extraction entertainment- a true Dental Diversion (but only for the patient) as Dr. Cooper is a truely gentle, caring, yet utterly comprehensive EXPERT in his field. I actually really like the few dentists that treated my daughter here over the several years that she was a patient. What I did not like was when, without any sort of warning, a charge for 'dental hygiene education' started appearing on our bill. Nothing new or different had happened during her appointment, so when I asked about it, at first the biller told me it was for some sort of real education that had happened, but eventually came around to admitting it was some sort of new fee because of COVID. So, what actually happened was, because the state of New York won't let them charge extra for PPE, now they are still charging extra but just lying about why, so they can get away with it. This really rubs me the wrong way, because you really have to trust your dentist! If they tell you your child needs a treatment, you want to believe they are honest, not that they are the type of office that will tell you whatever they need to to make a buck and cover their costs. We decided to switch pediatric dentists because of this dishonesty. It certainly didn't help that the biller I talked to was really rude about the whole thing. read more

I took my daughter to my dentist for her first 2 appointments (24 month and 30 month) and the experience was quite difficult. I decided to try a pediatric dentist and found this office on Yelp. Just got back from her 3 year old appointment and I am so happy we switched. Dr. Lou and everyone else in the office were great. They made it fun to be at the dentist and took the time to show my daughter that taking care of teeth should be fun. My daughter said "I like this doctor" as we were leaving. Enough said. Wow! I am beyond impressed with NY pediatric dentistry. I brought my 3 year old nephew here for his first dental experience and now he actually loves the dentist and can not wait to go back! I mean, I will take it. Dr. Jessica Fierman was a gem. She knew just what to say to help my nephew feel comfortable and got him laughing within the first 3 minutes of seeing him. My children (3) have been going to here for 5+ years. Last year in the middle of the pandemic when people are already hurting financially, the dentist chose to do a procedure without making sure it was covered by the insurance nor confirming with me (the mother) that it was okay to go ahead with the procedure. It resulted in a bill that was more than my annual fees and they would not help me with the bill despite me telling them I did not agree to the procedure. They just referred me to their disclaimer. Also I was told second hand that they were charging for extra PPE at an exorbitant price. Both myself and the other party have chosen to move dentists. I do not think this is acceptable behavior and seems to be taking advantage of people during an already hard time. So if you chose to pick this practice make sure to tell them they must confirm all procedures with you ahead of time, and check the additional add ons they love to tack on there without your knowledge, and always check your bill afterwards. I do not have any complaints about the quality of the dentists as they were always nice with the children and effective. read more

My 3 year old had an amazing first dentist experience at NY Pediatric Dentistry. The game room upon walking in was a huge hit for my son, who probably didn't even realize this was a doctor's appointment. The team handling the appointment were great at making sure he was comfortable and making sure he knew what was going on every step of the way. We chose Dr. Lou for our daughter's first dentist appointment based on the amazing reviews online as well as a personal recommendation. Our entire experience in making the appointment and with the front office staff was great - no complaints. The waiting room had plenty of games and a TV to entertain the kids and overall it seemed state of the art. The Dental Assistant who received us and started off with us in the exam room was very friendly, explained things well, and my daughter loved her. THEN Dr. Lou comes in the room - doesn't introduce himself, doesn't even acknowledge me as her mother, doesn't explain what he's going to do in terms that she could understand, nothing. My daughter asked him if he was "Dr Lou", and then he engaged in some weird smart-aleck banter with her... "Do I look like the doctor?" etc and not in a sweet way. His demeanor was entirely inappropriate and he was treating her as if she was 12 years old. I politely reminded him that this was our FIRST dental visit. He proceeded to try to check out her teeth very aggressively and when my daughter shied away from opening her mouth, he badgered her with comments like "Come on now, I don't have all day" and "I've got to get going". She then started to get upset and cry and myself and the Dental Assistant tried to comfort her and tell her it was okay, all was going to be fine. He then shouted at both of us "Everyone be quiet!! Or I will make you all leave the room". Then he proceeded to ask my daughter a question and when she was scared to answer him (because of what he just yelled) he asked her if she had "cloth in her ears". I cannot even begin to describe my total shock and disbelief that this could possibly be appropriate beside manner for a pediatric dentist. Thankfully my daughter is pretty tough and doesn't seem to be scared about the idea of the dentist, despite our experience. However - WE WILL NOT BE BACK. We have never been treated like this ANYWHERE let alone at the first dentist visit for a 3 year old. Unbelievable. Beware! read more

The moment my kids (ages 7, 12, and 15) set foot in the waiting room, they were happy. My younger ones immediately went to the computers, and my older one appreciated being able to sit on the couch and relax and watch TV. The entire staff was welcoming and helpful, from the initial phone calls, to the time we checked in when we arrived, and through the entire visit. We were at Dr. Lou's practice in NYC and are now with him again, closer to our home in Westchester. Both he and his staff set the kids at ease. I know my kids are receiving the highest level of dental care. I would highly recommend Dr. Lou and NY Pediatric Dentistry! read more

Yesterday my 21-month-old daughter went to the pediatric dentist for the first time and it couldn't have gone smoother. We met with the extremely friendly and professional Dr. Jessica Fierman. First of all the office was immaculate. Both clean and very kid friendly. In the actual room there is a large screen TV on the ceiling which helped calm and distract my daughter. Dr. Jessica Fierman explained everything to my daughter, was complimenting her, and overall made her feel extremely comfortable. To be honest, my daughter didn't want to leave the office.
