Tip can be added via your card or with cash direct to the massage therapist. Overall, I had a really good massage and definitely felt way more relaxed and less tense than when I came in. (scroll for info at the end of my original review.) ------- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Yeahhhh.. this place isn't it lol. For context I'm 25F, just moved into the area. This happened a few weeks ago but it just popped into my head recently. Hole in the wall massage/spa places are so hit or miss. Honestly I accidentally booked through them for a 60min back massage thinking it was another place that I actually liked that is also in ridgewood (it was "Mosa Spa"; you can book on their website so you know exactly what you're paying for before hand.) During the massage the woman asked me multiple times if I wanted soft or heavier pressure, and each time I said soft very loud and clear, since my head was face down for the massage. Fast forward to the middle of the massage and she's standing on my back. Like actually standing. And it wasn't brief. I know this is something people do in general, like at home, but it seemed extremely unprofessional since she didn't ask first before doing it, and I had already said "soft pressure" not "please put your whole body weight on me in one place." I also know that 60min massages usually involve flipping around to have the front part (arms, legs, head) massaged about halfway through. She must have mistimed and I flipped over and then 10 minutes later her timer went off and the massage promptly ended. When I was filling out the receipt for the tip, the man at the counter pointed at the dotted line and said "Tip." (not as question. also extremely rich considering the quality of the experience.) I never write reviews because I am so lazy; I guess this is where my laziness gets me so I can't complain (too much) - but I can warn: If you have a small budget for pampering yourself, either go to another massage place like Mosa with similar prices, or bite the bullet and splurge on an actual spa/bathhouse (NYC & brooklyn have plenty.) Or get a facial at the Glowbar locations for 30min under $100. Or get your nails done! I felt super disappointed because I don't have a lot of money for this kind of stuff, and blew it on a very uncomfortable experience. I clicked on the account of the second reviewer and they're two different people under the name Daniel I. First review about skin infection is real, the second 5 star review is fake and from the company. That's actually crazy.

From changing our clothes into the towel robes they supplied us with to cover ourselves, to the massage bed, the scalp massage and facial was such a relaxing and awesome experience. They use high-quality Japanese hair product and Korean face product. Afterwards, our hair never smelled so good and felt so soft. My scalp definitely felt different for the next few weeks. Our face was so clear and felt so good after they did the mini facial. The owners were very personable and made us laugh. We had quite a conversation afterwards about how they started their business. But I threw out my back & I've had it with the steroid injections & bs. So I spoiled myself. They just reopened on Willoughby in Bushwick and oh my lanta!!!! It's a much more intimate space than they had 10 years ago, when you go for the community option I think there's only three beds now. Not only does the bed heat up, but the wonderful Dr Patchi put a heating lamp on my back for my cramps. LUXURY I swear this was a spa like experience! Patchi is super warm & chill, and SO intuitive with her hands. She also used a tens unit which I completely love. She is so so so skilled, and that excellent skill is overshadowed in the best way by her warmth. When we were done I slowly sat up and stretched my back a bit, and felt pops where I've been really needing to feel pops! She also did some needling for an ankle I broke last year that I'm still healing, and I'm really impressed by how much that worked. Of course it isn't magic, I still have cramps and my back is still rough, but both are much much much more manageable after just one session. I was tipped off to a pay what you can day coming up soon, and I really really really appreciated that (& immediately booked a spot). Being broke sucks, this economy sucks, looking for a job sucks, and it sucks even more when you feel like you're being judged for not having much money (esp since Bushwick is turning snooty).
