I enjoyed meeting with her for my trial run - I'm not much of an everyday makeup wearer and I really liked that she made the whole process easy to understand. She definitely knows her stuff. She mentioned that she tests products in steam rooms at spas to make sure they last under hot, sweaty conditions (like dancing all night!). I describe her this way, because not only did she do a fabulous job on my makeup for my wedding but she also kept me laughing thru the drama and stress of that morning! I was referred to Anni by my friend who used her for her wedding and I'm so happy it worked out that way. Our trial appointment was great, we tried out a couple of ideas and came up with something I loved! While of course there had to be a lot of makeup for the photos and to last all day, it wasn't overpowering and I still looked like myself which was important to my new hubs and me. I don't know my way around girly products, but I knew I wanted to look super hot on my wedding day. Luckily I found Anni, and she did an amazing job! I didn't really know what kind of look I wanted, but I sent Anni several reference photos, and she completely got it. I looked like me, but like a perfect-skinned, elegant, glowing version of me. I also have very, very sensitive and acne prone skin, and the airbrush makeup she used covered everything without looking cakey and didn't make me break out. Anni is THE BEST, and I'm so glad that I had her do makeup for my wedding! After my makeup trial, I was completely at ease and knew that I was in great hands. I went into it stressing the importance of looking natural and like myself, and she listened to all of my input and concerns and totally understood what I wanted to look like on my wedding day. She went through everything step by step, explaining what she was doing and giving me different options, and the end result was even better than I'd expected. I looked and felt like myself, only better! ;) It was my first experience with airbrush makeup, and I was psyched to discover that it looked great AND felt completely weightless. There's nothing worse than feeling like you have a ton of makeup caked on, especially in the summer heat! Anni was also incredibly patient and flexible on my wedding day. We ran into a couple of unforeseen challenges and last-minute changes (the room that we were planning to get ready in didn't have air conditioning and it was a super humid day, so we had to relocate), but she rolled with the punches and made sure that everything went off without a hitch. I even asked if she'd do makeup for one extra person, assuming that there'd be time, and she totally made it work within our limited timeframe. Anni did my makeup recently for a special event, and I simply cannot recommend her highly enough. She really knows her stuff, and she really listens. The only other time I've had my makeup done professionally was for my sister's wedding. I told the makeup artist that I prefer a natural look, and she proceeded to slather on purple eyeshadow and bright pink lips. I didn't love the look. So I was skeptical about having my makeup done professionally. Anni certainly put my anxieties to rest. She asked what look I was going for, and she really listened. Anni literally saved the day! I was stuck in a bind one month before my wedding after having a horrible experience trying to find a makeup artist. I could tell she genuinely felt bad for me and was so helpful and accommodating to fit me in for a trial asap. She spent a lot of time at the trial understanding the look I was going for and really paying attention to detail (didn't just go through the trial quickly). I'll start off by mentioning that i'm a guy..a very white guy. and i don't normally do stuff like this. but when i booked a last minute beach trip to florida last month, i went to see anni (NYC Faces) for an 'emergency' full body primer coat of sunless tanning. Wanted my ghostly pale exterior to be a little less jarring on the beach. The experience was extremely comfortable, pleasant and professional, and the results were astonishingly natural (no orange, no Jersey Shore look) and the airbrush was really even. Really really happy with the results. A couple of my friends got the same treatment and were equally happy, and looked great. I live in the neighborhood (williamsburg) and as I rounded the corner just minutes after leaving the session, a neighbor stopped me to ask where I had been, noting my 'amazing' color. I used heavy sunscreen the whole time, and I stayed tan for almost a week. Totally looked like I had been out in the sun for weeks. Also, after washing off the initial coat, it didn't seem to rub off on my clothes, and i was wearing lots of white, and lighter colors. I will be back! read more

For my wedding, Anni did the makeup for me, my mother, my two sisters, and my two nieces, and I can not say enough good things about her! It was not surprising considering what a good feeling I had after our trial. She is a great listener who uses her expertise to make your vision happen. She made me look my best, but I still looked like myself. That day, she did makeup on a 6 year old as well as a 60 year old and she had them both looking and feeling great! Considering how much a bride might spend on wedding photos, the cost of a makeup artist is a small price to pay to ensure that you will look back at those photos and love how you look. Anni Bruno from NYC Faces is a complete and total rockstar -- she is a makeup goddess. I am eternally grateful for the outstanding job she did on makeup for me (the bride) and my mom on my wedding day. I was overwhelmed by wedding planning and so almost chose to wing it and do my own makeup, but I am SO glad I went with Anni instead. I did a trial run, during which she spent an hour and a half getting to know me, taking notes, and trying on different colors and styles on my face. She even tried the false eyelashes during my trial! I almost skipped out on the trial to save money, but I was honestly so glad that I did the trial run, because it makes you so much more confident and relaxed on the real day. I looked so glam after the trial that we decided to take our NY Times photo that night. Anni was so kind and flexible, for example she let me hang out and straighten my hair at her apt after our trial, and she happily arrived at 7am on my wedding day with just a few days notice. She was also willing to adjust her package to fit my specific needs, and offered the best value that I saw among any makeup artist in NYC. I was thrilled that I did not have to touch up my makeup even once throughout the 8-hour hot summer day, and despite shedding many (!) tears -- every bit of my makeup stayed put! Even so, she gave me a brand new lip liner, lip gloss, and concealer/powder to bring with me for touch-ups just in case. Her makeup was very high quality (Mac, Makeup Forever, etc. etc.), including these amazing false eyelashes that are apparently real human hair, and which she placed individually, one lash at a time. She made my mom look stunning -- drop dead gorgeous, and glamorous, yet not overly done-up. The thing about Anni is that she has a way of making you look incredibly beautiful, yet effortlessly so. Anni was one of my favorite vendors through the long planning process! I did a trial with her, and then booked her for my 2 wedding events. We had the best time going through all of her incredible makeup (she even makes her own, which are some of the most beautiful colors I've seen). Anni nailed all of the looks I hoped for, and even encouraged me to go for glitter eyeliner one day and rhinestone lashes another. Honestly, she encouraged me to be playful and step outside of my "normal", and I looked all the more beautiful for it. We did things I've never done before, including airbrushing and fake lashes, but I looked incredible throughout the very looooong days. She also did our mothers' makeup, and her colleague did our bridesmaids and sisters makeup. Everyone looked flawless, and most importantly, loved how they looked. That's not an easy feat when you have so many individualistic women. Anni was patient, a well of light and laughter and professionalism, able to work FAST when we were behind, able to change course when I threw a minor bridezilla tantrum and hated every color we planned to use, and just a real source of steady and calm in an otherwise terribly stressful day. Anni has helped me achieve the perfect look for my reception and tea ceremony in Aug, 2015. Not only was she able to take me in for a trial at a short notice but she was able to take my feedback of what I preferred that I think will work best for me and my comfort level and execute on the day of!! That's always nearly impossible for most people as due to the time restraint, I wasn't able to go for another trial in between my first and only trial with Anni and the morning of my event. But Anni took my suggestion, listened and this is all via "email", she heard and understood what I wanted and absolutely performed magic without even having me for a second trial! As I was getting nervous in between that time frame, I was super duper impressed and was blown away by the result and again, this is from changes I requested to be made right before the morning of and my look was even different than the one we did during my trial and it was flawless.
