Unsure as to why this place has such great ratings. We ordered 2 Greek salads with chicken, hummus, falafel, and a chicken tender plate with fries for delivery. The food was off. The cucumbers to the salads were transparent almost as if they were frozen and defrosted. The chicken to the salads was tough and bland. The hummus seemed watered down and didn't have any flavor either. The falafel look over cooked from the outside and undercooked on the inside also bland and tasteless. The chicken tender plate wasn't even chicken breast. They used chicken thighs, rolled it in flour, and fried it. It only tasted like the grease it was cooked in. Needless to say, this place gave me a stomach ache for two days. Will never go back here. read more

The food was out of this world. If you ever liked hummus, or ever thought you might want to try hummus, and you try the hummus from here you're going to be ruined. It is absolutely the best I've ever had. I can't put my finger on it. More Savory? Less lemony? Whatever it is, it's wonderful. And for the first time, ever, I tried babaganouch. I've heard of it before, and figured it was essentially hummus made with eggplant. After tasting it I think that's basically what it is. You are either going to like it or you're not going to like it. If you don't like eggplant you're probably not going to like babaganouch. We tried the chicken gyro and the lamb gyro as well as falafel to go with the hummus and babaganouch. (It was our only dinner of the day!). The gyros were great. I'm not sure how they prepare the meat. I'm guessing maybe it's on rotisserie in the back. But I'm not sure. It did have that crispy char on the outside that implies it would be on a spit type thing. All I can tell you is this was fabulous and served as typical gyros are- lettuce, and onion, and a sour cream cucumber sauce. The seating is sparse to say the least. I included a picture of what it looks like as you come in the front door and there's just three booths inside the restaurant. There are two tables and chairs out near the street in front of the restaurant. And in the restaurants defense the otherwise less-than-perfect afterthought of table and chairs by the street are made more pleasant by the shade cast by the building that time of the day. We got the food to go as that's what we originally planned. But I can't imagine going here during lunch time. Maybe if there was a nearby park to go to, otherwise I'll prolly be a to go person from here. But the food will probably keep me coming back it was just that good. read more

Absolutely fire! I didn't know where to eat but healthy was a good call so I went here. The place is clean and well decorated, definitely get the New York vibes. I had the feeling the place is Slavic owned based on my interaction with the helpful young man in front . Already off to a good start, as these folks don't mess around! The food is fire. The hummus is very different from any that I've tasted before. It is light and isn't as overwhelming, overall well balanced. Everything else was on point. Sweet baby Jesus! I am very disappointed that I am just now discovering this place. I stopped by to grab a quick bite to go. The service was friendly and somewhat fast. I ordered a Lamb Gyro and a 6pc order of Cajun wings. I dug into the wings so fast that so forgot to take a picture, but they were very good. They were very crispy and delicious. The lamb gyro on the other hand stole the show. It was a decent size, packed with perfectly seasoned meat, and the pita was warm and soft. They even provide a side of tzatziki sauce in case you want to add more to your Gyro. Overall the food was fantastic, the service was decent, and the it was pretty clean for the most part. The only downside is that there is either no Air Conditioning or they don't turn it on. I am only here for a few more days, but I will definitely be back. read more

I love Greek food, I don't get to get a lot of it being in Alaska but this place was pretty fantastic. The lamb was very moist and deliciously seasoned. The salad was good and the tzatziki sauce was fantastic not too much but just the right amount of flavor for the meat. Kind of surprised at the high rating of this place. It's really nothing special. The inside is pretty dumpy and the food was okay. Wow! We went to the Legacy Museum & wanted something that everybody in our party could enjoy. It was 2pm on a Sunday. We checked Yelp & decided on NYC Gyro. Soooooo glad we did. They were very welcoming. The food was DELICIOUS. I had the lamb gyro with falafel as my side. One of my party ordered the NYC platter. The pita was so soft & yummy. Hummus was creamy & tasty. Second visit here and not disappointed. Most of the food here is homemade which is a plus. I had the Manhattan platter (Greek salad, homemade hummus and falafel, and pita bread). The portion was generous. The service was outstanding. I also ordered baklava, it was different and since it was my first time having it, I cannot draw an honest conclusion. Holy Moley! This place is amAZEBALLS. Everything on their menu board is good. My most recent spitgasm was from the spicy lamb burger. Before you lose your mind about a burger at a gyro place, you've got to understand it's a burger with tzatziki, jalapeños, sliced lamb, and burger fixings. Soo. Goooood. We had a few questions & they were so patient answering each one. Most of us ordered the Lamb gyro combo (comes with fries & a soda). The lamb was spot on! Seasoned VERY WELL! It had a well mixture of spices especially garlic which is a plus for me. You can literally eat the lamb alone & be satisfied. They didn't skimp on the meat either like some places which was another plus. I love my entire gyro from the soft pita bread, refreshing lettuce & tomatoes, & even that cool & creamy taziki sauce. No flavor, no Tzatziki sauce, no feta cheese, one thin piece of onion and rude customer service. They fill grub hub and door dash orders first even though customers are standing right there. I have visited this company different locations the one by Maxwell AFB and this location on Commerce St. The commerce st I have visited 3 times but on today date 3/1/2023 has been the worse. I ordered the Gyro-burger but I had to returned back after getting home and realized the order was wrong. When I returned I told the person that there was no lamb on the burger. He was shocked and I ask if he could remake the orders. Once again I asked for the burger and lamb not to be over cooked. Needless to say the burger and lamb was very dry. If you live in the area or if you're just passing though this place is most definitely worth the stop. We traveled home and stumbled across this place and after checking yelp we just had to try it out. It was a late night weekend stop so initially we were a little iffy about the potential quality of the meal. We called in to place the order and maybe 10mins later our food was ready. We ordered a lamb gyro, fries and falafel. Now really pay attention to what i am about to say..... this food was AMAZING!!! The gyro was huge, the meat was juicy and the veggies were fresh. The falafel were larger than the ones we normally get. Customer service gets an A++. It's located in the downtown area where there's a ton to do a see. I can't wait until our next trip home so we can visit this place again. The menu has a great variety of options and you'll be sure to find something you like or would love to try. The price we paid was well worth it. We don't eat out a lot so when we do we like to make it count and this restaurant most definitely made our list of amazing eats. read more

I have eaten here many times. first let me say the hummus is life changing. I cannot say enough good things about the hummus if you like hummus you will love it. Their salads are like any other salad except they have a hint of cilantro. I totally love cilantro so again best salad ever as well as the hummus. Now we come to the gyros. I have tired them all. The bread, tzatziki and veggies on the gyro made a great combo and my mouth was pleased. I am crazy about falafels and these were delish; tasted with hummus and tzatziki and enjoyed them equally. I was just a little disappointed with this place. When we ordered, there was no one ahead of us, but maybe 7 people came in after us. Our food was ready for quite some time, but we didn't receive it until about 20 minutes after ordering when the man working the counter gave everyone, including the people that ordered several minutes after us, their food all at once. A friend that I came with said she usually receives her food after a 5-10 minute wait, but this was well over for the food to have already been ready for so long. As for the food, I appreciated that they had baklava which was pretty good. The crispy chicken gyro was good as well, but I was a little irked that they didn't omit the lettuce and tomatoes like I had asked even when it was written on my bag. The side foods weren't bad. Best falafel I've had in a very long time. The place isn't huge or fancy, but the food is absolutely delicious. We went when there wasn't anyone else there, so we had a chance to chat with the owner. He's very pleasant and chatted with the kids while taking our order. Food is freshly prepared, so that is a bonus. The two youngest had the chicken tenders, which was more than enough for them both. We took home the leftovers. When I think of chicken tenders, I think of heavily breaded and fried, you know, more breading than chicken. Not in this case. They were chicken breasts that were very tastily seasoned and perfectly cooked. The toddler ate them with gusto. We all shared a piece a cheesecake with strawberry topping. Yum, NY cheesecake. Doubtful I'll eat here again. First, I placed an order for the Brooklyn Platter, Tribeca Gyro Combo, and Fries. Placing the order through Yelp gave a 45-60 minute delivery window, the order arrived 90 minutes later and to the wrong house...the total distance between the two spots was only 2.2 miles. I tried to call the restaurant twice and no one answered the phone or responded through the Yelp App. Second, the food was definitely not worth the wait. The lamb was overcooked, the tzatziki sauce was essentially all yogurt, and the gyro combo was not worth the $12. So given the quality of the food and the speed of delivery, I'll wait until a better spot opens up. read more

Got a Brooklyn platter that was suggested in a previous review (Lamb or Chicken Gryo meat, hummus, pita bread, and Greek Salad). I do wish that it came with more salad. In previous visits I've also tried their wings and gyro sandwiches which were equally as good. The gyro sandwich that has Feta. yes, just go now! I do however wonder why there is no restroom? Possibly trying to stay true to their name as most small NYC establishments don't have a public restroom. And even though their YELP page shows the Gyro meat on a spit, its not visible to the customer which is different than a lot of Greek establishments I've been to. They have limited booth seating, doesn't seem like they have air conditioning because they keep the doors open and are next to a Daiquiri place so the noise from rowdy people nearby is off putting. They also play their music pretty loud inside as well so not the best place to sit and have a conversation but you can call in your order to go to avoid any long lines. read more

The lamb gyro just wasn't the best and the best ingredients, onion and tomatoes were very limited. I did have some of my own tomatoes that I added but would have like more onions. I also would have appreciated a sauce with more personality instead of the one note option we were given. The only thing that saves this review is that perfectly prepared falafel. It was nicely seasoned and was the better part of my meal. The lamb gyro was part of a combo that comes with your choice of a side and a canned beverage. It simply wasn't worth it and my husband agrees. However considering the food choices I have encountered during my visit to Montgomery, I perfectly understand the elevated reviews. Word of warning: Slow service. Be prepared to wait if you're on a short deadline, even if there is no line. (20 minutes for a falafel gyro and no one ahead of me). The food itself and portions were good. I ordered a falafel gyro, and the falafel itself was softer than I'm used to but I know that's restaurant preference. There were many entrees an sides to choose from. Aesthetically, the place looks a bit dive-y, but not too different from what you'd actually see in NYC. There are three booths and a table for seating indoors with some outdoor seating on the sidewalk. If a line does form, it starts to clog the small walkway to the front counter. I enjoyed the food but next time I'll call ahead for my order instead of waiting for a long time in the restaurant. read more
