I was a guest of a member during the 18-inch snow storm, so I wore my $500 dollar suede Danner lights (Made in the USA) to manage the snow. Upon entry, I was informed by the staff that, due to the suede being too light, it looked too much like Timberland boots, which are banned. I was professionally whisked to a backroom, where I was offered to wear black loafers 3 sizes too large if I wanted to make my appointment. I spent the rest of my time skipping through the venue in order to not trip over myself, wearing massively oversized shoes. I would have been okay with this footwear restriction if it was universally enforced, but there were plenty of people in the club wearing duck boots, metal hook leather hiking boots, and even the same type of boots of a slightly darker shade. Apparently, the shoe shade restriction was not something members are aware about (the no sneakers restriction is well known). I have previously been a guest here with positive experiences. However, today I was put in an illogically unsafe experience, forced to wear loaner shoes 3 sizes too large, because $500 lighter suede boots are deemed less classy than duck boots for being too"Timberland like" during a snow storm.

I did report these concerns to the manager at the 42nd Street location, but I felt I also needed to put this on the record. There is simply no place for this kind of behavior toward paying members. Members deserve to be treated with respect and professionalism. I hope someone in senior management looks into these issues so the club can improve.

Previously I have asked the attendant and they said due to the amount of foam in the water it was being cleaned (at 1pm). The staff in the pool and spa area are always helpful and friendly. Today I went to the Sky location and the indoor pool and jacuzzi was closed. I asked the front desk why they cannot send an email or an alert on the app. She didn't know why. The mid-town location is much older but everything is always working.

After a verbal disagreement with another patron, a staff member asked me to leave. I explained that I disagreed with what had been reported and didn't believe the situation had been handled fairly. What disappointed me most was that there appeared to be no meaningful attempt to de-escalate the situation. No manager came to speak with me or try to resolve the issue before it escalated further. Instead, the police were called and I was arrested without any meaningful conversation. I was never physically aggressive toward any staff member or patron. Despite that, the situation escalated far beyond what I ever expected from a luxury club charging over $350 per month. I still have not received a refund weeks later and highly recommend no one sign up to this gym unless you want to get arrested. The lack of trying to de-escalate and instead escalate was extremely shocking. Worst gym ever! For a premium membership, I expected a much higher level of customer service and conflict resolution. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. I can no longer recommend this club based on how this incident was handled.

IF I OWNED THIS PLACE I WOULD HIRE ALL NEW STAFF AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY SCAN EVERY GUESTS' ID AND THEY SAY HELLO AND GOOD BYE EVERY DAY. IT IS NOT THAT HARD. I had a minor issue with one of the workers, and instead of handling it professionally, GM Joseph Cloonan came up to me inside the men's locker room while I was not dressed. I asked him multiple times to please wait outside the locker room until I was dressed and told him I would speak with him outside. He refused and continued following me around the locker room, including while I was changing. I felt extremely uncomfortable and left the gym right away because I wanted to escalate and report what happened. About an hour later, I received a call saying I was banned from Equinox for life for allegedly violating the Mutual Respect Policy. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to contact Equinox corporate, Equinox HR, and Equinox legal. I have also tried dealing with club directors Allison Neimi and Emma Marr, but they refused to take a phone call from me, refused to let me explain what happened, and refused to provide any meaningful escalation contact. I am now filing a civil claim and complaints with the New York State Attorney General's Consumer Frauds Bureau, the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, and any other appropriate agency. Worth noting, Equinox has already faced serious consumer-protection scrutiny. In 2025, the New York Attorney General announced a $600,000 settlement with Equinox over membership and cancellation practices, including allegations that Equinox failed to clearly disclose subscription terms and failed to provide easy online cancellation options. In my opinion, this club handled the situation terribly. I was followed around a locker room while undressed, banned shortly after, and then ignored when I tried to report what happened through the proper channels.

I had to send multiple follow-up emails just to get a reply. When Emma finally responded, she claimed that if I wanted any action to be taken, I should have reported the incident at the time. This response was unacceptable because I did report it immediately. The screenshots I provided clearly prove that. Instead of acknowledging the report and apologizing for the delay, I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong. No member paying premium membership fees should have to chase management for days after reporting a safety concern. Member safety should always be the highest priority, and concerns like these deserve prompt, professional, and respectful attention. Because of the way this situation was handled, I have completely lost confidence in Equinox Hudson Yards. Emma Marr's lack of urgency, poor communication, and failure to properly address a legitimate safety complaint fall far below the standards I would expect from a luxury fitness club. I sincerely hope Equinox's senior management reviews how this matter was handled and takes meaningful steps to ensure that future safety complaints are treated with the seriousness, professionalism, and respect that every member deserves.

Recently they hosted a movie night and a Bar B Que/ Open swim. Again, nothing but bickering from negative people. I loved having beer with my popcorn and for free! I LOVED having a hamburger and chicken with fresh salad all for free after swimming. The staff worked really hard to pull off these two events. The Lifeguards were circling the pool constantly and show great care and compassion for an elderly man who is a regular and needs extra TLC. Stop complaining or leave! I liked the feel of the high ceilings while I played (or at least ATTEMPTED to play haha). Even though this place was popular on a weeknight around 7-8pm, the size of the facility didn't make me feel cramped. Checking out the rest of NYISC, I saw an indoor soccer field - which is a rare sight in a place such as Flushing. I don't play soccer, but I would recommend this space for soccer teams and friends looking to play a match or serious game. My boyfriend and I also wandered to the 'Pro Shop' in the sports club. They sold all different professional ping pong products from brands such as Butterfly (famous ping pong product manufacturer). We didn't purchase anything, but I did sign up for private lessons with one of the renowned & accomplished coaches. The pricing was for a set of 10 lessons and were more than affordable. The coaches were all world ranked, and have competed in Olympics, etc. Maybe one day I'll be able to at least keep up in a game with my boyfriend, lol.
