We were told we couldn't use the half-empty driving range before our tee time, hassled repeatedly by the marshal even though we were on pace, and then harassed by a drunk old man who eventually stole our cart and chased us around the course. Staff were dismissive and claimed they couldn't identify him, even with his name and location (he turned out to be a regular). Unsafe, unprofessional, and sexist. Highly recommend avoiding this place if you're a woman.

Naturally, only amateur golfers play here, so most of the course is a death trap. The fairways are wide but have no room between them, so players are constantly playing from opposite fairways, which is hazardous on its own. On top of the hazards, the tee boxes are in TERRIBLE shape. 3 of them had no grass, only dirt. I implore anybody reading this to play somewhere, anywhere, other than Forest Park Golf Course.

My phone was dead and I panicked running over to this golf course. The side door was wide open and some young punk was on the other side gossiping with someone. I stepped two feet in because he didn't hear me shouting to call 911. He finally saw me ( I was standing with my cane, obviously hurt." He puffed out his chest shouting and I said" I apologize for entering but you didn't hear me and there's a badly injured woman " He didn't care and shouted" get out you don't belong in here, it's disrespectful " he slammed the door shut and I shouted again" call 911" he didn't call. Fortunately a woman and her husband saw and they called. That young punk will be paid a visit from Karma and when he does, I hope he remembers how badly he treated people in need. Just an awful awful person.

The spacing led to long waits at each hole - with typically three parties in front of us in an ongoing way throughout the course - causing it to take us over 3.5 hours. We needed to rent clubs, but they were out of putters so we had to use mini-golf putters as well. If you show up at a non busy time, which I find Friday's around 3 pm are not busy, you can get right out as a single or even a foursome. If you are a town of Hempstead member, it's $27 to walk 18 holes, as 9 hole rates don't begin til 4 pm. Sometimes you can cruise around quickly, but usually it'll take at least two hours to play 9 as there will be many slower groups out in front of you. The way they send you off is weird too, you go put your name in with the pro shop, and then they call you back in to pay when they are ready for you to head over to the first tee. Kind of strange. There are two janowskis hamburger stands on the property, one after the 3rd hole and one right at the clubhouse, and they also have an indoor 19th hole bar. You can walk, roll a pull cart, or take a motor cart at all times here. Making a tee time is highly recommended if trying to play on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday morning. The greens on the course are slow, and the place is overall not well maintained. Would be nice if they pumped some more cash into this place and got it in great shape, as the views are awesome, and the course has some length, tipping out at just about 7000 yards. A few holes play right along the great South Bay, with boats and cool views in sight all the way around. Apparently, there used to be one of the best private courses in the nation built in this same spot and bearing the same name. However, the current course that is lido beach is not the same as the one from the past, as it was demolished and built over some time ago. I'd say the back 9 is both more exciting and has better holes than the front 9, and is a bit tougher. Highlights include the par 5 16th and par 3 17th. The motor carts are also old, and the pace of play during busy times can be as long as 5 and a half to 6 hours. This is a good place to practice, as you can pretty much hit driver all over, and it's also one of the flattest, if not the flattest, golf courses I've ever played. It will also be cooler here than inland Long Island as the bay and ocean breezes are plentiful. If it rains, this place is wettttt, soggy as it gets. Pro shop is decent, they have your typical shoes (just had a special on Footjoy dnas when I was there), logo balls, towels, shirts, gloves, etc. For the range, you buy a token in the pro shop from the machine on the wall for $5, but the range is terrible. It's mats and irons only, and is located between the 8th and 9th holes. Really wouldn't waste my time at the range. There's a putting green right in front of the clubhouse, which is just as slow as the greens on the course. There's also a chipping green near the first tee. I believe the janowskis stand, which you pass after the 3rd, 6th, and 17th holes, sells beer, hot dogs, soda, water, etc, but I really don't know as I usually bring my own (which you're not supposed to do). There are some bad golfers here too, including true beginners and old ladies walking, try to avoid.

We took a car share service to avoid the parking costs, and the front staff made it easy to grab our clubs to play. The automatic golf balls keep the rythm of play going. The added views make for an even better experience. My husband and son didn't mind the humidity. They played for 55 mins and are ready for another round!

Really great coach, very patient and helpful making subtle adjustments to move beyond being a beginner player. I've used the indoor golf nets, driving range and the putting green. The facility is well equipped to handle a large number of golfers and has a lot of different coaching options in the academy. Only complaint is that it is very expensive.
