I am extremely disappointed with the way my serious safety concern was handled by Club Operations Director Emma Marr. After an incident in the locker room where I felt unsafe, I immediately reported it to a staff member. I also contacted Emma Marr and even provided screenshots proving that I had reported the incident right after it happened. Despite this, I received no meaningful response for several days. I had to send multiple follow-up emails just to get a reply. When Emma finally responded, she claimed that if I wanted any action to be taken, I should have reported the incident at the time. This response was unacceptable because I did report it immediately. The screenshots I provided clearly prove that. Instead of acknowledging the report and apologizing for the delay, I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong. No member paying premium membership fees should have to chase management for days after reporting a safety concern. Member safety should always be the highest priority, and concerns like these deserve prompt, professional, and respectful attention. Because of the way this situation was handled, I have completely lost confidence in Equinox Hudson Yards. Emma Marr's lack of urgency, poor communication, and failure to properly address a legitimate safety complaint fall far below the standards I would expect from a luxury fitness club. I sincerely hope Equinox's senior management reviews how this matter was handled and takes meaningful steps to ensure that future safety complaints are treated with the seriousness, professionalism, and respect that every member deserves. read more

Equinox Hudson Yards was the gym downstairs which is convenient since we were right upstairs in the hotel. You can access this from an elevator from the hotel, or there is another street entrance where the juice bar is downstairs, and you access this through separate elevator banks where you pass by their shop to make your way towards the lobby. This main floor includes the locker rooms, shop, check-in, and a beautiful lobby area with a long workstation table and some comfortable couches. The fitness floor is in an extended L-shape that spans the perimeter, and allows in a lot of natural light. Up the flight of stairs near the locker rooms is where the studios were (yoga, pilates, group fitness) along with Broken Coconut and of course, the pools, indoors and out. The spa is also accessible from this second level, however there was one entry that didn't permit members which was a little frustrating. I'm not a hardcore workout enthusiast, so I cannot go on about equipment, etc. However, the treadmills and stretching areas were fine, so I won't complain about any of that. Since there was a great shower upstairs, I didn't use the ones in the locker rooms. This location is a Destination one, and that breaks down into whether you are grandfathered in, or if your membership states 'Destination HY' if you've joined after a certain time since Equinox changes the names of the membership tiers ever so slightly (especially the cost difference). If you're already this status, give them a try just to say you worked out at the flagship, but if you're not, the day fee will be worthy for all they have to offer. read more

I love equinox however this location in comparison to other locations really feels like a luxury experience. I go for my favorite trainer Candace; she is the best & literally has changed my body & of course for the pool with beautiful view. The gym is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff are excellent especially Shania from the pool bar (broken coconut) I believe was her name. Extremely sweet & good vibes. I can literally spend all day here. Very disappointed with my experience at Equinox. After declining assistance from this particular trainer multiple times, he continued insisting on giving me a complimentary training session. During that session, I was guided through an exercise I had never performed before using weight that was clearly too heavy while my form was incorrect throughout the movement. As a result, I experienced ongoing shoulder and neck pain for weeks, required medical evaluation and a physiotherapy referral, and missed multiple days of work. What was even more frustrating was the communication afterward. In text messages, rather than taking accountability, the trainer suggested that I should have spoken up if the weight was too heavy, despite the fact that he was the professional leading the exercise and letting me continue without correcting my form during the session. I reported the incident immediately and provided documentation to management, but Equinox ultimately denied responsibility and refused to assist with any medical-related costs. I've only ever visited this location through a guest pass from a friend, so I don't really have a reason to clamor about paying. I will say upfront that I don't think it's worth the price, but that's up for debate. Based on the amenities, equipment, and environment, everything exudes a classy, premium vibe. In the general reception area, they have a upscale lounge set up where I noticed a lot of people were working from their laptop and chilling around. The other amenities like the pool, views of Hudson River, outdoor sauna unit, make the Hudson Yards location stand out. I worked out here during a week day around the morning time and it was already feeling full. I don't want to even think about how full this place would be during peak hours. They have a bunch of classes throughout the day, but unfortunately, I didn't really have time to check one of them out. I'm a simple guy: give me free weights and a bench and I can have a solid workout. At the end of the day, this a very nice gym, but not a practical option for the masses. read more

Absolutely Unacceptable Behavior by Manager Kira/Kina Dino I need to report a completely unacceptable and disrespectful incident with your manager, Kira or Kina Dino (African-American woman). I just signed up for a membership on Friday--paid an initiation fee, prorated May, and full June payment. THREE PAYMENTS. Today was literally my FIRST visit to the gym. On Memorial Day. The gym closed at 9 PM. At 9:10 PM, I was quietly taking a video in the locker room. I wasn't bothering anyone. The cleaners were working and didn't say a word. Out of nowhere, this woman storms up to me and starts telling me to leave. I said, "Okay, I know," and went to change. Instead of walking away, she stood right next to me watching me undress. I was literally half-naked while she hovered like some controlling parent. Then she started running her mouth about how the gym closed at 9--as if I wasn't already aware. What do you expect? People to vanish at 9:00 on the dot? There were 20-30 people there at closing. I told her, "You see I'm getting dressed, what more do you want?" She kept going and then snapped: "CLOSED!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?" Like she was trying to pick a fight. Then, while I was still dressing--no bra on--she threatened to call SECURITY on me. For what? Changing clothes? For not magically teleporting out the second the clock hit 9? She left to "get security" but no one ever came. Probably because even they knew how ridiculous she was being. I went to the front desk and calmly told her how unprofessional and disrespectful that behavior was. You don't scream at paying members, threaten them with security for getting dressed, interrupt them while filming, or stand there watching them with no bra on. That's disgusting and invasive. She didn't apologize--she kept arguing. This isn't some garage gym in Bronx. This is a luxury Hudson Yards fitness center with spa and pool access. You charge premium prices. Start acting like it--and do something about this manager's behavior. It was humiliating, hostile, and entirely uncalled for. Fire her. Or train her. But DO NOT ignore this. All I gotta say is WOW.... I was blown away the first time I stepped into this equinox. It has to be the most luxurious gym I've ever been to. This gym has everything you could want- my favorite part is the rooftop pool overlooking the vessel and the rest of Hudson yards. It's a breathtaking view. There's a ton of lounge chairs on the other side of the rooftop as well if you want to just relax without getting wet. The actual fitness floor is huge and has all the machines and free weights you could ever want. There's a ton of super high tech cardio equipment as well. I do wish they had more stair climbers because 3 isn't enough. Every inch of the building from the lobby to the stairs to the locker room has been carefully designed to have that luxury touch. If you workout in the evenings on a sunny day, you can catch a beautiful sunset through the floor to ceiling glass while working out. I feel like this equinox has to be one of the best gyms in the world. read more

But honestly unless you are sitting with your phone signing up for a class 24 hours before a class opens, good luck getting into one. Probably not going to renew - just NOT WORTH the 300 bucks a month or so for Destination when other Equinox locations - and even most luxury high rise buildings have gyms that are pretty good these days. read more

This is for the spa: It's so wonderful here. Come here with a friend. Take advantage of the lounge pods with the immaculate view of the water. Ask for a blanket. Love love love this gym! I spent a weekend at the hotel and was sold on joining. Everything is so clean and pretty. The best view when working out makes it so much easier. Having access to a pool in New York is a major plus. The ladies locker room has both a sauna and steam room and there's also a jacuzzi and a cold plunge indoors. The daily classes are great and there are so many different options. There are so many amenities to take advantage of, I always feel so relaxed when I leave here. read more

This is possibly the most beautiful gym I've been to, which probably isn't a surprise, given that the views alone as you're pumping iron are worth the membership. I like the layout here a lot, with the floor space and equipment all organized coherently. Fourth floor are the cycling studio and group fitness rooms, plus the lockers/showers; fifth floor are the indoor and plunge pools, barre, and yoga - as well as the famous rooftop pool. (Which, while we're on the subject, is tiny but it's still a NYC rooftop pool offering comfy lounge chairs and drinks/food, so on Friday evenings and weekends, it is packed. My suggestion is to get there early and put your name down on the waitlist, which actually moves a lot faster than the estimates the host give.) However, I would say that the people working there, as at most Equinoxes, are really hit or miss. I once locked my sneakers and, after waiting 15 minutes for the front desk to send someone, just approached one of the ladies and asked her to help. Another time, when I called to see if someone had picked up a water bottle I left behind at the pool, the guy who picked up the phone couldn't have cared less. Obviously, it's just a water bottle that can be easily replaced (and not, say, jewelry or a phone) but his general tone was one of someone that just couldn't be bothered to look into the issue for me. No asking for my name or contact info, no even cursory promise to follow up. A completely unhelpful interaction, which is too bad, because a gym can be stunning with numerous facilities and luxurious amenities, but the staff is really what can make a difference at the end of the day (what's that lipstick on a pig metaphor), and I can't in good conscience give this Equinox a perfect rating, especially at such a high membership fee. read more

I was on the fence to join for many months, mainly because it was hard for me to justify the $300+ membership. After committing though, I don't regret it. (The high price point is, in a weird way, motivating to go more often..) The variety of classes and equipment is amazing. As someone who loves to swim, the pools are also fantastic. Sometimes I'll work remotely in the lounge or on the sun deck. The facility overall is very nice and the views of the city and Hudson River beat looking at a basement wall while working out :) Like most gyms, it gets super busy weekdays after work which is not ideal, but understandable and workable. Great views and great amenities especially the outdoor pool! Started going here during lunch time since I work in the area so it's been really convenient. Has views of the whole Hudson Yards area and a great shot of the Vessel. I would say while this is a very nice gym considering it's brand new, but it seems a little too spacious. The layout is questionable with the vast amount of open space vs very little for machines. Maybe this is the concept? Also, windows between the lobby area and gym seems a little weird to me. I would say the only thing that keeps me from giving this place a 5 star is again that the wide open space makes the gym seem pretty bare and for a 60k sq foot gym I would expect more. You'd think that it would combine everything you could ever want at an Equinox. One of those things for me is there's no boxing bags or boxing studio here. Great overall body workout, but not a single bag in sight. Slightly disappointed that I still need to hit up other locations in the city to get this amenity. read more

I've been to New York many times, but had not travelled there ever since the pandemic. I landed on 4th of July at LGA, checked into my hotel at Hudson Yards and walked into the Equinox there for the very first time! I was pleasantly surprised that the location was open 'til 11 p.m. as I was under the notion that it would close at 7 p.m. Anyway, there was a fireworks viewing party at the pool area (I found out when I arrived that you have to preregister). The annual Macy's fireworks show could be seen from the gym floor so I had zero qualms about that. We had the arguably the best seats. I made a ton of new friends, everybody is so nice there! The instructors, the pool area people, the Shop workers, and the gym members :) I had only seen photos of the pool via Instagram. It exceeded my expectations. From all of the Equinox locations I've ever been to, this was crème de la crème. The gym was pristine and so clean from the machines, to the floor, to the bathrooms, showers, Eucalyptus towels, indoor and outdoor pool area. I wish I could be here all the time!! But I'm native to Southern California so anyways New Yorkers have it so good! I wish the gyms in California were as pristine =) Anyway I'm a Happy Camper :D can't wait to visit again next time I'm in Manhattan. read more

We had access to this location because we stayed at the EQX hotel. It's a beautiful gym, but beyond location and the views, it was nothing special. In comparison to the other locations I've worked out at it's the same gym with the same problems. Douchey personal trainers, and there's always one or two equipment/machines that are questionably serviceable. All of the pools (even the indoor one) was shut down due to maintenance during visit which made it even more disappointing. read more

The staff is very nice and friendly. Unfortunately one day I left my I watch in the pocket of one of the robes. I figured it would've been washed maybe destroyed. I called the front desk they said they had found it and they would put it in a safe for me till the next day. I've probably been going to Gym for the better part of 35 years. This is without a doubt the most beautiful Gym with the most incredible views I have ever gone to in my entire life. But what really puts it over the top for me is the pool. I've been waiting to write my review of this club because I wanted to give Equinox time to work out some of the kinks that come along with opening a Hotel/Gym/bar etc all at once. Well its been a full 3 months so now is the time to "weigh in". Despite the controversy in the news or whatever goes behind the scenes, I rate business based off of their products and services for the given price. Not into the drama!! I have been working out for about 13 years now. I have been going to equinox for 7 years. Being a member of Hudson Yards in particular, I am now allowed to go to any and every equinox which is great and huge factor when trying to justify the price. In this location there is a gym floor, spa, pool with full bar/restaurant service, and a large Library area. Having a space for desk work is nice plus in NYC. Whether you like the look or not, the place just looks unbelievable for a gym. You can see the look of awe on everyones' faces who are being toured around. No matter what walk of life you come from, the place is impressive. So some people should get off of their Equinox hating horse for a second or stay on and ride that horse straight to the nearest eye doctor. My primary use of the gym is weight training and lounging. I cannot comment on any of the classes. There are floor to ceiling windows throughout the entire gym floor which gives you tons of natural lighting. The gym equipment is extremely spread out. This is something that I personally love. Space in NYC costs a lot of $. So if I get an extra foot of space from the next machine/sweaty smelly person, Ill take it. Just know that that half a foot probably cost a good $469. The gym floor is always spotless. The locker rooms and showers are beautiful, clean and have all of the kiehls products that cost a fortune in the store. So now onto some of the non gym related things. Theres a good size rooftop pool. Outdoor Rooftop pool access in NYC alone is worth $. Then theres an entire deck spanning 2 sides of the hotel if you just want to relax, eat, or have a drink. Yes a DRINK at the GYM!! This is either the best or worst idea ever. Luckily I've kept myself under control but I have asked one of the bartenders to ask one of the Managers to create an alcoholic protein beverage for the menu. Lets see if it happens. Now on to some of the CONS... because otherwise people will think I'm some Equinox fanboy, and yelp will think I actually have been paid by Equinox to write this novel.... - I did have an issue upgrading. I did end up working it out but for people who did not I understand why you feel the way you do. Being a loyal long time member for years just to be slapped with a massive upgrade fee is a bit insulting. But we are adults and know that Money is more powerful than morals or ethics. I mean look at our current Pr........ - The atmosphere is a little stuffy. It doesn't have the same energy as most of the other clubs. While all Equinoxes have their own vibe, they still feel like an Equinox. They have that gym hustle and bustle with lots of energy; Cute chicks who just want to show off their new lulemon leggings; The screams from the old man hanging upsidedown also wearing lulemon leggings; That treadmill running noise ; People b*tching at the front desk, etc. At Hudson Yards you may get the people bitching at the front desk but other than that... nothing! You could probably hear somebody's airpod fall out of their ear all the way from the other side of the gym. Chances are that you'll hear it drop and go all the way down the drain. - This may fall under that same topic but the crowd is very random. This is most likely creating that odd atmosphere. Equinox is not known for its members being friendly but its almost as if one of the long time members said "LYKE OMGAH the new flagship just open, lets go be extra bitchy", and their friends responded "like OMGAH yaazz" Then all of the normal people who just want a quick workout after work are like...just NO! *Queue the awkward silence* - Little things: The pool staff in the beginning were having a little bit more fun than the actual guests. Kinda like a Vanderpump Rules, Bravo kinda deal. It seems to have gotten a lot better though. I would have to say to say that the staff behind the bar are really nice guys. They go out of their way remember my name, chat, and make it a bit more personal like the other locations. - 1 more thing. Still no toilet seat covers in the men's restroom. They either installed the wrong size toilets or installed the wrong sized toilet seat cover holder. Whichever it is can someone figure it out? So there we have it. My full review of this beast of a gym. Every product has its hiccups. Just like every family has its homophobic uncle in Pennsylvania or Trump supporter cousin in Montana,........... but that doesn't make Equinox anything less than a 5 star Facility. read more

I wish I could give a negative star rating. Equinox gym Hudson yard treated us badly and tried to embarrass us in front of others. We just dropped $1k at the spa where the sauna was broken. Multiple staff told us to use the gym sauna. They yelled and screamed at us at the front desk and the "so called manager "type person" Rolando said that there is nothing he could do, we had to stay in the spa. He was rude and no body from real management nor corporate would speak with us or return calls to try to make it right. I have been a Equinox client in Dallas for almost 5 years with a Hired personal X trainer twice a week. That fact didn't even matter. It is clear that Equinox is only In it for the money and does not care for the clients that drop a lot of cash. This is very sad since the spa staff was wonderful and our last stay at the hotel was amazing. This place is obviously not being run by good people and are just taking your cash. There are other luxury options and I will go elsewhere and be treated better too. read more

Great gym, huge: especially by NY standards, lots of models and good looking people, some hardcore buffs too. All the equipment is brand new and lots of it. My favorite are the Woodway treads. There's a spacious locker room and steam room inside. A Pilates room, a spin cycle room, an outdoor sauna and in winter: heated pool. Even as large as it is, this is NY so get here early else it's busy. This gym connects to the Equinox hotel. read more

I've never seen a more beautiful Fitness Club than EQX Hudson Yards. The entire experience is incredible and will have your mind blown on how high a bar a group of people can set for fitness. From the modern exterior and exquisite design to the small details in the locker rooms. ITS OUT OF THIS WORLD. I come here every weekend to experience a challenging group fitness class, followed by an outdoor sauna experience in the barrel saunas during winter, and end it with a quick dip in the rooftop pool overlooking the Vessel and Hudson River where helicopters land to dock. Absolutely beautiful new location with everything a girl could want: amenities, spaciousness, fantastic area of town, broken coconuts, and a rooftop pool! I was so excited to finally make a trip out to Hudson Yards and check out the new location and it did not disappoint. Every employee I can in contact with was super friendly and helpful, as I definitely needed some guidance for where to go as it was my first time here. I won't lie, I only went to the rooftop pool, but the experience was great! There is a waitlist system for the lounge chairs, but there are plenty of towels and space around the terrace to make yourself comfortable as you wait. The pool itself is small, but as most people who actually want to lap swim can go to the indoor pool, this presented no problem. It was kind of gross, seeing the film and unknown particles floating around the pool. It seems pretty standard to wash off in one of their outdoor showers before getting in as with most public pools/saunas, but no one seemed to do that. Other than that, I loved being able to order healthy food and fun cocktails from broken coconut by the pool, and the views of the vessel were incredible! Stopped by here while I was in New York. The facility is new and of course, I expect nothing short of clean, beautiful and fancy. This location met all those criteria plus more. It is located right across from The Vessel, so you get an awesome view while working out. Not sure if there was someone exclusive working out here when I visited, but I did see many security on the floor. Just a heads up, to workout at this gym if you do not have Global membership, it is $50/ day and they will allow a +1 to use your guest pass. read more

Beautiful place but very poorly managed. I've been a member since day one since I live 2 blocks away. It would be a nice view of the Vessel if not for filthy windows (I haven't seen window washers in 5 years!). Women's sauna is always in and out of service and when's it working it's burning hot! The outside pool what makes the whole experience is a disaster and it's impossible to get a chair. It's up to 5 hours wait on the weekend so don't even bother... but their quick to raise your membership rate! It's now over $300 for just one location! read more

I've been a member of Equinox for several months and I have to say I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. The facilities are beautiful and equipment are well maintained. I love the views of the Hudson and the city. The gym offers a wide range of classes, from yoga to cycling, and there is always something new to try. I will say one con is some classes are difficult to get into and you need to be quick when registration opens the day before. Price is a little steep for over $300 a month but I enjoy having a wide variety of classes and not having to wait long for machines like in other gyms. read more

If you are thinking of joining I just want to let you know its not as great as you might think the pictures look better than reality, this year they let SO MANY people join that: - Classes are ALWAY full - Even if you go super early the gym is packed, there js barely space to workout at 3pm, if you think of going in the evening just leave.... - The pool was nice last year but this year its extremely packed even early in the week, with people sitting on top of each other and the water looking swampy, its just kinda gross honestly - A week ago they even close the pool at 6 to host events in the evening (glad to know my 335$ a month is still not enough money) - Phone chargers are always broken - The mini restaurant by the pool has a B rating (ew) and the price of food is 30% more expensive than last year and just doesn't taste good. - They dont lock the price and it will increase it every year, which is very rude (they send you this ridiculous letter saying they have to so they can provide better service or something like that.. what a joke) - They dont honor their guess passes, I had one left from last year so technically im supposed to have 3 now and i only got two. FFantastic spot for summer with its outdoor pool! They also have an indoor sauna. The modern design adds to the appeal. Unlike some other locations, here you can enjoy a sauna and sunbathe outdoors as weLLll!! read more

The amenities of this Equinox location are top notch and I sometimes also love to cowork here. I love their rooftop pool, outdoor sauna, fun unique group classes. main drawback is that there's usually almost always so many people that classes get quickly booked, and it may be hard to find seats to cowork on. read more

This is not a complaint about an isolated incident, this is a complaint about a fundamental failure to serve members in a way that irreparably damages the Equinox brand. The Hudson Yards location is single handedly responsible for making me never want to belong to Equinox ever again. I am the exact target audience, and frankly, I intended on being a lifelong member, until I had to experience this location on a daily basis. They betray the values of the brand and have made me less of a "high performer" than when I started my membership. Let me first say that the bones of Equinox Hudson Yards are absolutely amazing. The facilities are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen, unfortunately, the pros of this location end there. The single largest problem with this location are the crowds. I pay $315 per month (they just re-raised the rates) and I am legitimately unable to regularly use any of the equipment that I want to. The gym is comically packed every single day and they only continue to allow more people to join. I have waited for over 45 minutes to use a bench press. The most recent time I wanted to use the pool, the attendant literally told me that it would be at least 3.5 hours and she wasn't sure if I would be able to get in that DAY. Oh, and you aren't allowed to call ahead for the pool; you need to physically be there. The steam room (if it is open, which half the time it isn't) is standing room only most days because the benches are constantly filled. The crowds are atrocious. The next issue lies in the details. This is where luxury brands should excel, in the case of Equinox, this is yet another place where they fall short. For example, many of the showers can't even reach comfortable temperatures (they are either too hot or too cold). Their scale probably cost $30 from Target. The staff makes you feel as though you are dumb for imagining you might be able to access the pool on a sunny day. The list goes on. My expectations for this location were incredibly high, and unfortunately, I was met with sheer disappointment. If you are looking for a novel, one-off experience, this club might work. If you are looking for a gym where you can practically workout everyday, enjoy the amenities, and grow as a person, this is definitively the wrong place.
