We came in here for lunch and ate in the snug, near the bar. I loved it here. I cannot say enough, only if you are in Connemara and in the village of Roundstone you must come here. There are two sections, the bar & the Restaurant next door, which appeared a little more formal. We didn't want to do that since we had dinner reservations elsewhere later. So the pub it was. First off, I consider myself elite when it comes to Irish Coffee and Hot Irish Whiskey. Both were outstanding, especially The Irish Coffee. This is not an easy drink to perfect, but they nail it here. So so good 10/10. I had Seafood Chowder with Soda Bread, Oh my..outstanding, fresh and loaded with fresh chunks of white and shell fish. Again the best I've had while home. then I had The Toasted Special Sandwich, which was loaded with Ham, Cheese Tomato and Onion. I wanted to stay on the light side as we would be eating later. The soup was very filling. The sandwich came with chips (French Fries). It was just great. The ambiance and friendliness in this family owned pub really was great and I will say it again..DO NOT MISS this spot if in the Connemara area. The town and shoreline are beyond beautiful. Fish delivered daily from across the street at the dock.

My trip to Ireland comprised of astonishing natural beauty, charming towns, and very delicious food. On a tour of the breathtaking Connemara, we stopped in Roundstone for lunch, perhaps one of the smallest, remote, and charming villages I've ever seen. Our lunch at O'Dowd's was wonderful and the essence of classic Irish pub fare. I went for the shepherd's pie, which was fantastic. Perfect potatoes and juicy lamb, not too oily. My friend had the chicken curry, which she loved. The food really was excellent, such a surprise for such a tiny little town, and the homey and rustic ambience was lovely (featuring a roaring fireplace). It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip, and was perfect for a lunch stop while touring the countryside. The ultimate pub experience!

One of the best seafood restaurants in the country, very simple food cooked to perfection, they actually get their fish delivered fresh daily and by god it really shows. There are no airs or graces here, just honest food done the way it should be. Well worth the detour if you are travelling to clifden.

Fishermans platter with a side of chips. Must try!

This is my favorite place to come for the best seafood when I'm back in Co. Galway. All of the seafood here is super fresh, all the menu is amazing. I love getting the fishermans platter so I can get a bit of everything. Definitely eat here if you are in the Roundstone/Clifden area.

Nice but small place, so have a backup! Great food and drink with veggie options. Super fresh, of course.

We had the seafood chowder, seaweed hummus, and crab claws cooked in garlic butter.
