After ordering a drink is enquired about some football on TV and the barman was more than happy to pop it on for me, in fact he came over twice to check what time it was on and was I staying on for it... Really liked that he remembered and without fail, 5pm and he turned over the station for me! Why to win your customers over, well done! We quickly got cosy, there was a stove fire burning strong so the place was warm and people pottered in and out, they have a couple of tv screens plus games rooms to the back of the bar, so grand if he fancy some pool :-) The barman kept the drinks coming and despite not being a pub with lounge staff, on couple of occasions they came on out from the bar with our 'special delivery'... Pretty decent of them and continued to have great banter with us and I'd gladly go here again when I'm back in Letterfrack. As I said it's definitely a no frills place but if your after a great pint of Guinness and some friendly Irish banter, then this is just the place :-)

Walking in, you have a beautiful bar flanked by a wood burning fireplace surrounded by chairs/ couches. Open the adjacent door and you have the other side of the bar and entrance to the back bar. The back bar is just amazing, complete with a replica of The Titanic! Trust me, you won't see anything like this anywhere... back in the day this bar commissioned folks to go on the ship, they said. What makes the place is the Locals... here they will talk to you, spark up a conversation unlike Dublin & Cork City. Spent 3-4 nights in here and the people you meet and conversations/ gibberish really make it authentic! The bartenders are also all good, dealt with 3 different ones and all of them had plenty of info on the area/ recommendations, etc. The Guinness is amazing and they DO NOT serve food during the off season... have a bag of salted peanuts! The fish and chips were tasty and surprisingly had some nice coleslaw that wasn't smothered in mayonnaise like most Irish coleslaw tends to be, My wife had a lamb stew and even though she ate loads, the bowl still looked full when she was stuffed. The portions are absolutely massive. I couldn't finish my fish and chips either. Their beer selection on tap is not worth mentioning, the usual suspects. They do however have McGrath's IPA in bottle which made me happy.

It was packed, everyone was having fun signing and drinking ... one big party. I met and had so many great conversations with both locals and people from all over the world. First things first, no food here, just drinks. Second, live trad music at 6pm & 10pm when I went in early October. Seating is tight so get there early & grab a few beers and find yourself a spot.
