After spending several weeks in Portugal, and mainly in Lisbon, this is the only restaurant that I have made a return trip for. The two times we went, it was basically empty, which from the outset is never a good sign, since as a general rule of thumb, you want to be where all the people are, right? Apparently, this is not always the case and honestly I think I've found a hidden gem.
The first time we went we ordered the mixed seafood cataplana for two people (which was easily enough for four). The chef came out and plated it for us with great care and throughout the meal both he and our server checked with us to see if we were satisfied.
On our second visit, I had the seafood rice, which yes, in Portugal is everywhere BUT this seafood rice was 15 euro for one person and literally enough for 5 people. I am not one for quantity over quality, so let me assure you that everything from the broth to the individual seafood was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was a little more brothy than other seafood rice I've encountered here, with less rice than seafood (so definitely more like a seafood stew than seafood rice) but I actually really liked that, and more seafood means more bang for your buck anyway! Service was wonderful, friendly, attentive. Still trying to figure out why this place hasn't seemed to blow up yet. Go now while it's still easy to get in! read more
