I recently learned that O Happy Bread has new owners and is now serving Vietnamese bánh mì sandwiches. I was excited when I read about it in a local newspaper while having breakfast at Shelly's Bagels, and I even told a few friends because I was looking forward to trying it. Yesterday, I had some extra time and decided to stop by on my own. The bánh mì sandwich was good, although I have had better elsewhere. Unfortunately, the customer service left me disappointed. There were two women working when I visited, and I did not receive a greeting, smile, or a welcoming atmosphere. As a first-time customer under the new ownership, that first impression mattered a lot. I genuinely hope O Happy Bakery succeeds under its new ownership, and I would encourage the team to focus on creating a friendlier, more welcoming environment. Cute place that I had high hopes for based on the reviews. Everything smelled and looked delicious upon arrival. We ordered a cinnamon roll, coconut macaroon, ham and cheese croissant, blueberry cheesecake crepe, chocolate chip cookies, and some espresso. Cinnamon roll looked nice, but had a hard icing on it. I wouldn't describe it as gooey at all. It had the texture of a croissant. Overall very flaky and dry and not a lot of filling. Coconut macaroon was pretty good. I like the sign that points out what a macaroon vs macaron is. Blueberry cheesecake crepe was not good at all and I couldn't eat more than a bite. It was swimming in condensed milk and cold. It took about 15 min to get this and the ham and cheese croissant so I was hoping they would be at least warm. Ham and cheese croissant was my favorite, but it's not anything that special. Overall we spent like $70 on stuff that was just okay. Next time I might try a sandwich or bring some bread home, but I wasn't super impressed with the pastries read more

What a gem of a place! We were looking for a breakfast place while going from Vegas to Death valley and found this on google. Frankly speaking the complex this place is in looked under construction and isolated and we considered turning back but then I thought of having a small peak inside and I am glad I did so :) It's a cute place with authentic french breads, sandwiches and pastries. I ordered the spinach mushroom omelette for breakfast and parceled chicken "pan- bagnat" sandwich and "death by chocolate" cake slice for later. While everything was great, I especially loved the crispy buttery toast with my omelette and the pan bagnat which was still crisp when I ate it for lunch a couple hours later. Service was polite and friendly. We were told that the order may take about 40 mins as they were short staffed on the day and everything is cooked from scratch . We got our order after about an hour though. It is a cool place to sit and enjoy with time to spare but please account for extra time or order something ready to go if on a schedule for death valley trip. read more

Thought I would try this little bakery/deli for lunch. They have an extensive menu and so many delicious pastries and breads to choose from. I had the Italian sub with a side salad and it was very good. I wish I would have had them toast it in the pizza oven but maybe next time. Staff were friendly and very attentive. O Happy indeed. My wife has talked about this little Pahrump treasure for some time. She has visited before and we finally made the trek out from the Vegas valley. It was worth the visit. The location is unassuming and the establishment is dated, but go for the food and baked goods!! We shared a simple sandwich...simply delicious...and a strawberry walnut salad. Everything was tasty and fresh. We brought some beignets and a French loaf home to include in a picnic dinner. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Giving O Happy Bread three stars. Honest rating of the place. The latte was good, but it's not what I ordered. I ordered an espresso and got a latte. I enjoyed it anyways. I also had a warm cherry turnover that was microwaved and served in a bag. It was served too hot, and it really should be served on a plate with a fork. For what I paid, I felt the establishment to be a little on the lazy side not serving a pastry to dine in on a plate. I had to ask for a fork. Awkward to eat off a paper wrapper. So, the latte I didn't order what good, and the turnover I ate off paper was good, but the service could use a little cleaning up. read more

We stopped by here on Saturday while driving from Las Vegas, through Death Valley to Mammoth Lakes for our vacation. We saw a billboard sign advertising for this Bakery. We looked it up on yelp and proceeded to drive there immediately. There was a fun small classic car gathering in front of the bakery. We weren't really that hungry as we had had breakfast in Las Vegas, but we wanted to see what they were offering up. They had a fabulous selection and everything looked very high-quality. A very nice gentleman assisted us. He was super friendly and we found out he used to live in the Phoenix area for a while. We chose the flaky cinnamon roll and the chocolate pastry twist. We ate half of each while on the road and the crunch was loud as ours teeth sunk through the multiple, flaky layers of the pastries. Wow! These were amazing in flavor and texture. We ate the other halves for our dessert after dinner and they still were really good. Now that we live in the Phoenix area instead of So Cal, we will be driving through this area more often as we head to Central California to visit. Have never received what I would call friendly or good customer service here. The food is good in general, but the prices are steep for the area and sometimes the quality of their food dips. On my most recent experience the staff was negligent in making sure I was happy with my experience. I was not asked if I was dining in or to go, my food was packaged up and they told me I was unable to have it heated up because of health code violations. They made zero effort to make my experience better and no one really seemed to know their roles. I stopped by this bakery after passing by, and overall it was... just okay. It was a nice size shop with the kitchen noted in the back. I picked up a chocolate croissant and a couple of cookies. The croissant looked promising but didn't quite deliver--flaky enough but lacking that fresh, buttery punch I was hoping. The cookies were fine, though nothing memorable. Prices felt a bit on the high side for what you get, especially considering the taste and freshness weren't totally there. That said, the staff was really friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. I admit that we walked in with low expectations for a French bakery in Pahrump. It was a pleasant surprise to find a cute cafe with really reasonable freshly baked bread, great sandwiches and a large selection of traditional French pastries. We split a couple sandwiches and a bunch of desserts. Highly recommend the peppercorn pate w cornichons and the fried chicken sandwich. Solid Paris brest, great cherry (I think basque style) cheesecake and we're still thinking about the royal chocolat that was so rich without being too much. The not great: the strawberry tart was good but don't expect the typical tart shell, it was more like a dense cake bottom. The caneles on other days pics look fine but today's was terrible. Pic speaks for itself - super dry overcooked edges, not at all custardy with literally black burnt bottoms. I wasn't asking for a refund, just showed the cashier that it was burnt for feedback. She said it's supposed to be that way. Caneles are hard to find and one of my faves, so I usually get it when I see it. It can be dark but it's supposed to be caramelized not black to the point you can taste how burnt it is. We got the last 2 of the day so there was no point in arguing, but that batch should've been thrown out. We bought several loaves to take back to Vegas and will be back for future visits. Can't wait to try more of the pastries, breads and sandwiches. **Update - I'm sure chef is right that the bitter burnt canele is traditional in France and American caneles skew lighter. Food was decent but not something I would go out of my way for. I love supporting local, but it's hard to do that when the service is mid at best. People looked tired and were not friendly, easiest way I can say it is the over all service is rough. What a hidden gem in Pahrump! Who would've known they have a bakery with real baguettes and French pastries in this little town. Even in Vegas, it's hard for me to find traditional French baguettes. The employees were great, the food and specialty coffee were good, and I was able to have my dog with me in outdoor seating.
