We like the car we bought, it is a Toyota, so it is reliable. However we did not enjoy the experience of buying it at Oregan's. The salesman pressured us into buying that day to ensure we would have the car on the day we wanted it and that we could only get said price if we signed that day. We caved and ended up buying the car that day. But then all of a sudden, once the documents were signed, we no longer could get our car the day they had promised. I had been a loyal customer of this Toyota dealership for more than 20 years, purchasing multiple vehicles through the same salesperson. Unfortunately, after his retirement, my experience with the dealership changed dramatically. I dealt with Mike N., who seemed more interested in closing a sale quickly than answering questions or understanding my needs as a customer. My interactions with Sales Manager Adam G. were equally disappointing. I found him dismissive, unwilling to listen to what I was actually looking for, and lacking the professionalism I would expect from someone in a leadership position. On multiple visits to the dealership, he was often outside smoking, and when speaking with him inside, the strong smell of tobacco was difficult to ignore. It did not create a particularly professional or welcoming impression. I also attempted to address my concerns through General Sales Manager Michele, but the experience did not improve. Throughout the process, I felt pressure to commit to a purchase and provide a deposit despite receiving no clear timeline on when the vehicle I wanted would actually arrive. What stood out most was the overall attitude toward customers. Rather than feeling valued as a long-term, repeat buyer, I was repeatedly made to feel as though the staff were doing me a favour by speaking with me. The focus seemed to be on getting the deal signed and taking a deposit as quickly as possible rather than building trust, answering questions, or ensuring customer satisfaction. I remain loyal to the Toyota brand, but I will never return to this dealership. In fact, I ultimately drove to another Toyota dealer outside the Halifax area to make my purchase because the experience was far superior. After more than two decades of loyalty, it was disappointing to feel so unappreciated. If customer service matters to you, I would strongly recommend exploring other Toyota dealerships before buying here. read more

I bought a Toyota Corolla Cross 2024 last year and my experience has been extremely disappointing. After just one year, my car developed a major engine problem. When I took it to the company, they gave me a list of 9 to 10 engine parts that needed replacement, but told me the waiting time for these parts could be up to a year--three months have already passed and they're still saying it could take another year. In these three months, my car has broken down four times, leaving me stranded, and every time I visit the dealership, they either give a different excuse or refuse to provide anything in writing about the issue. If something serious happens, who will take responsibility? The service is terrible; whenever I take the car in, they keep it for the whole day, claiming there are too many appointments even in emergencies. Overall, the after-sales service is unresponsive, unhelpful, and lacks transparency, making the whole ownership experience frustrating and stressful. read more

My wife and I have purchased two vehicles from this location (one very recently) and we're very pleased with both cars. Unfortunately our negative experience with one salesperson (Rob) has lead us down an aggravating path of extremely poor and dismissive treatment from O'Regan's management. They'll gladly take your money but don't expect any type of customer service standards after that. We've been buying Toyota and planned on being lifelong customers but with O'Regan's having a monopoly in the area, all future purchases will be from another company. Vehicle was damaged during repair. I have pictures of no damage before and damage after. Said they would fix the car. Indicated I would need help with travel during the cars repair and they didn't get back to me. Filled out the Toyota survey with 0's and got a call from a lady saying they shouldn't repair as there was no evidence it was damaged at their shop (when I said there was). Giving a 0 because the communication and experience was bad (go to some random place and get the car fixed on btw you're now walking to work). I had the car into O'Regans Perma Shine the next day as well and had another bad experience. I really like my Toyota; is there a repair shop anyone can recommend that can complete repairs under the Toyota warranty? read more

Over promised and under Delivered My wife and I met Ryan Hubley from Toyota Halifax on Oct 23/2022 in Windsor while attending the Pumpkin Patch. We had a conversation .in which I indicated that I need to look for a vehicle ASAP because I was in a accident and the rental car needs to be returned on Wednesday Nov 2 . Ryan indicated that he had 2 in mind, but one just needs to get check out, for it was bought on a trade and might have to go in for the recondition process. I asked Ryan will anyone else see this car, he commented that no there is 2 keys in in which he shows me one and the other was in the service department. Ryan asks me for a price range, and I mentioned 25000.00 or close to it . He mentioned that this shouldn't be a issue all he needs to do is run it through the GM for his sale manger is too busy. On Friday Oct 28,2022, I went in to meet Ryan and he showed me a Red 2018 Toyota RAV 4 in the upper parking lot and said he will try to get this in first thing on Saturday am or try to get it for me as is. and send me a price but don't buy another car because I will make this work for you, and I can save you some Money. I touched base with Ryan Saturday, and he said it didn't get in but will have a price by 12noon Monday Oct 31. I called on Monday around 1:30 because I had a bank appointment at 230 to buy this car . Ryan indicated the GM is too busy but will interrupt him to get the final figure. At 2:10 Ryan called and said someone had put a 500-dollar deposit on the vehicle on Friday and nobody told him about it. But tells me he will continue looking and I said are you serious. I have been around this industry a long time and this experience is one to remember . Everyone, this experience to me is totally unacceptable on many different levels. 1. All Ryan had to do is tell me earlier in the week that this couldn't meet my price range 2. There is a lot of excuses in the conversation 3. This left me with 24 hours to find a vehicle for the rental must be retuned on Wed. 4. Where is the customer Service 5. There was never any apology and all that was said was I know your upset. I agree with Dr. H - DO NOT PUT MONEY DOWN! I will save you the long and sordid story that unfolded over three days that lead to us going to Tusket toyota to order our new vehicle. From the Financial/Business Manager who stated "I'm not very good with numbers", to the unrealized promises of a car within 24 hours, it was an experience that left me questioning everything about the place. Was the 4 cylinder really that sucky - the test drive was almost dangerous due to the lack of acceleration? Was there ever a real vehicle within 24 hours reach? Did the salesman have to add "you might lose some incentives if you don't order tonight!" They did come in with the lowest price for the car we wanted, but the experience led us to pay another dealer extra money just to avoid the nagging doubts and fears. Keep in mind that there are numerous Toyota dealers within an hours drive of downtown Halifax - and I would encourage you to check them out before venturing to this dealer. read more

I realize this might not be a popular review in light of the Toyota recalls. However, I have to give credit where credit is due: O'Regans Toyota Halifax is far and away the best dealership with which I've ever dealt. From the moment we stepped inside the dealership, we were treated like valuable clients and not just someone kicking the tires. Bob Bell was our salesman and he shepherded us through the buying process seamlessly. From the test drive to the neogotiations, Bob was professional and friendly without crossing that line into the stereotypical smarmy car salesman. He provided us with tons of information on the car we'd selected (yes, a Corolla!) and acted as a liaison between us and the business office. When it came down to crunching numbers, he ran several scenarios for us until we found one that matched our budget. We started running numbers on a Wednesday evening and by 5pm Thursday, the car was ours. Bob came in early for his shift to ensure that the car was detailed and processed, just waiting for us to arrive and do the hand-over. I've had the car in twice for service: once for a tire puncture (which was repaired at no cost to me) and again for the recall service. Both times, the service staff were courteous and efficient; I was in and out before I could hardly start my book. Like I said, I realize that Toyota is getting a bad rap in the press - and probably some of it is justified. However, there wasn't a single issue at O'Regans Toyota Halifax and I have every confidence that they will continue to offer the high quality of service we were shown. read more

I went to pick up my check for my Yaris this morning at O'Regans, Halifax and boy did I leave steaming mad. Not only did I get the complete run around, but I was also subjected to a banter by a big, white guy...lets call him Sandy as that's what everyone else called him, He treated me like a little lady and yes, I am female, but I do not appreciate being made to feel misunderstood. I called many times to discuss the car appraisal and when I got there all I got was a smarmy smiling guy trying to smooth my ruffled feathers. I work.I took time off form work to walk down. I called ahead to make certain all of this would be in place so I did't have to linger. To make matters completely infuriating...let it be known that I DO NOT like being called "hon" or "honey" or being touched even casually on the shoulder. There was even an older woman/sales agent there who shooed me away from the stool I was sitting on.. "Go sit where everyone else sits," she said. I am a customer and have dumped lots of money into repairs with this outfit. Overall, it was a completely degrading experience worthy of the sad, stereotype of car salesman portrayed out there. I shut Sandy down (who just shrugged at me) left with my poor car that hit a pothole and took it to Speedy Muffler on Robie... Guess what? I am being charged a fraction of the price O'Regan's Toyota quoted me on. it is hard enough to get fair service from this industry, but as a woman,I find it to be totally patronizing. I bought a year old Toyota Yaris from O'Regan's almost three years ago. Two weeks ago, I drove over the 100,000 km mark and, as Murphy's Law would have it, a few days later, the water pump blew out causing a coolant leak and three lights to come on (my thermometer, engine and battery). I was terrified that the repair was going to cost me a fortune. I took my car into O'Regans to have it diagnosed and was told that usually you're done with the warranty once it's over that 100k mark. My luck turned around when the service dept called me to say that it was covered thanks to a 'good will clause' since it's just over the cut off for my warranty. They ordered the part and sadly, it was on backorder but I was promised a free rental if it was over a 10 day wait. I wasn't thrilled to be without a car for that long but realized it's no one's fault. The next day, the part showed up despite the backorder issue and a few hours later, I had my car back in perfect working order with no money exchanged. I love how the service dept works (roll into the bay, hand over the keys, driven home by shuttle or taxi courtesy of O'Regan's) and how up to date they keep you as things move along. This is how all car dealers and manufacturers should treat their customers. I was already a huge Toyota fan having had an Echo as well as a Matrix in the past. But I am officially an O'Regan's customer for life as well. I even told the folks at the counter how much I would love to work there because I believe in their business so much. We were in to test drive a camry. We gave our keys to the salesperson and off we went. We were pleased with the vehicle and proceeded to negotiate. After way too much back and forth with the manager or where ever it is that they go, we could not come to a mutually agreed on price. I said ok, we are going to pay cash for the car, but please give us our keys back. The salesman refused! The manager then came back and said if we put through the purchase as a finance (because they would get a kick back) and then pay it off when we get the financing we have a deal. LOL. I will NEVER use O'Regans Toyota again. I was almost going down there to trade in my Yaris for a Rav4. My second Yaris in 8 years. The cars are great. The service is terrible. The ECP covers NOTHING...and every time you suspect there's an issue, they want $95 to look at it. Even if they are performing your regular maintenance--which I did at the dealer religiously. Now that my warranty has 3000 kms left, I'll NEVER take it to their service people again either. I have had two issues in 120,000 kms. Calipers seizing and speaker blowing. Neither were covered on the ECP. But, I was promised "bumper to bumper" warranty and that it's great cause "the cars don't break but the electric components are what you will want to have protected" I guess the speaker is not an electrical component. Of course, the guy who sold me the car isn't there anymore. I keep getting letter mail saying they are offering a trade-in incentive for my Yaris and to come in to get a deal. I would not buy another Toyota from them if my life depended on it. I'd never buy another extended warranty either. It's the biggest scam going. I went from promoting and loving the brand to discouraging anyone from considering them again. The parts department basically admitted that the ECP is a sham and the sales staff mislead customers regularly and that its a frustration for them. I'm off to buy a Forester. You wont get another $25,000+ from me. All for the cost of a pair of speakers and a $1500 warranty that was never used. How is that for great service? read more

I once broght my car here for a coolant leak. They were unable to find the coolant leak. But instead of acknowledging the fact that they couldn't find the coolant leak they just told me that it wasn't leaking, as if I was an idiot. They also warned me that my car was going to fail the upcoming MVI because my control arm bushings were completely seperated. I had my MVI done somewhere else, where I was told that the control arm bushings were fine and they passed the MVI. Also, the last time I was here I broght my car in for a general check and they told me that I needed $2000.00 in repairs. I once again went somewhere else and I was told that there was nothing wrong with my car. read more

I was in this past weekend to get my oil changed. I bought my car at a different location, but this is where I was directed for the oil change. I had never been in, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Honestly, I didn't really think about it, it's a car dealership. Kinda self-explanatory. Okay, so I guess I haven't been into a 'fancy' car dealership in a long time because this one was like a mall. It's huge and it had a café in it. It had a café. A car dealership with an employee that is hired to run a cafe. That kinda blew my mind. I felt like I fell into a little mini eco-system where everyone just lived here, it felt like there were hundreds of people milling around working here. The waiting area is large, open and comfortable with a big T.V. so you feel like it's okay to stay and wait there if you want. I walked to grab a coffee (this is before I noticed the café) and by the time I returned my car was basically ready. My interaction was so fast and hassle free, not to mention everyone was super friendly and helpful even though my car wasn't purchased at this location. Did I mention they have a cafe? read more

O'Regan's unspoken policy of trying to force customers to purchase unwanted and unnecessary add-ons for their new vehicles is a blatant and outright despicable assault on our freedom to choose, not to mention an outright cash-grab. In June 2012 we sat with Steve Murphy for a good hour going over the pricing for our new Prius C. We went through the proposed Purchase Agreement line by line, item by item, declining the Rust Sealant, Fabric Protector, and Extended Warranty. The ONLY add-on we accepted was the Rust Protection. We knew the total cost for our car was going to be $25,896.75. But when Steve printed off the Purchase Agreement, out came a price of $26,188.85! We looked at Steve and asked: "What's this?!?" He explained that we were being charged for O'Regan's Platinum Security Protection, it came with the car, it was mandatory, and we had to purchase it. We explained that we neither needed it nor did we want it, and we explained why. But 'ol Stevie-boy wasn't taking 'no' for an answer. Kinda like "take it or leave it" attitude. So we took it. But we didn't take it lying down. As soon as we got home we proceeded to post a blisteringly negative online review, hoping only to warn all future vehicle buyers to be aware of O'Regan's shenanigans. But surprisingly, along came an O'Regan 'gatekeeper' holding out an olive branch, wanting to make nice. We made nice alright.....we got our $292.10 back! So be aware fellow vehicle buyers; as O'Regan's continues down their unrelenting reckless road to riches at OUR expense, please join me in reminding them that we aren't going to take this crap. They might be selling vehicles but they're not the only ones. And they might be servicing vehicles but they're not the only ones. Next time we need a new car we'll be shopping elsewhere. read more

Poor service and lack of professionalism We went there as we are planning to buy a new Toyota Highlander XLE or Limited. We met a sales person who gave us an appointment to test drive a Toyota Highlander Limited. I dealt with dealers in Montreal and I usually get a phone call two days before to confirm my appointment. Nobody called us. Anyway, I had the appointment on my agenda so we went back there to test the car as scheduled. I was surprised when I found out that the sales guy did not remember that he booked an appointment with us. He told us to wait as he was meeting another client. We waited 10 to 15mn before he can talk with us. He started asking for our information and our trade-in and entered all the information in their system. We thought that this was a normal process but we were astonished when he told us in the end that the Toyota Highlander that we were supposed to test drive is not available; therefore we had to come back or test an hybrid version. We decided to look elsewhere and asked him to remove our information from their system and to send us a confirmation by email. I have not heard from him since our last visit. We finally decided to buy the car in Toronto.This was my first experience with this dealer and it was very disappointing. read more

Like my corolla, but this place is brutal. I had the worst experience in buying my car at this place back in summer of 2013. The process was not at all transparent. All they wanted to give me was what I would be paying biweekly, but they had a whole bunch of hidden fees. They quoted me biweekly payments of $244, but the website said $208. The thing you need to do with these guys, is do all the research on the website, and compare these numbers to what they are proposing. After getting into a heated arguement with the sale staff (as I had already wasted a whole day trying to purchase a car), they gave it to me for the right price of $208 biweekly. After pointing out all their sneakiness to the saleman, he asked me not to give them a bad review through Toyota Canada. If you don't know your numbers inside out, they could get you. read more

I have seen much better service. Every time I am going into that garage, I just hate it. The service is poor, the staff is not friendly. I am still wondering if it's because I'm a lady or because I'm speaking english with an slight french accent, but geeee, they better take much better care of their customers if they want to keep them. The last time I was in, I had to change my tires for the winter ones. Once the job was done, the car was out, the bill was paid the advisor tells me that my vehicle is in need of a wheel alignment...why they didn't tell me so while I was in the waiting area and ask my permission to do it. I was so upset that I took my vehicle to another garage to have it done...and the advisor from this garage told me that it was not really an issue since it was only .5 of a degree off. If this is not a way of making money on a person, I wonder what it is...Thanks to the advisor from that other garage, Toyota didn't get my money for doing nothing! I am at a point of not even looking to buy another Toyota cause I have such terrible service at O'Regan's! read more
