Less than 10 minutes in, a young tech calls me out and tells me they can't do it because my oil drain plug won't come out--and that I'd probably need a whole new oil pan. Now, if I didn't know any better, that could've turned into an expensive "fix" real quick. But that didn't sit right with me. This morning, I got under my car myself... and the drain plug came out with barely a turn of my socket wrench. So yeah--safe to say I won't be going back there again. We should've listened to the reviews. OVERVIEW: One of our trucks went down so we limped it here. 25 days, multiple new parts and 14 thousand dollars later it was finally done. They first told me on day 2 they thought it was one or 2 parts, so I said would it be faster and cheaper to just replace them now so I can get on the road and they said well we want to be sure. It wasn't until the next week they came back and said it's one of those parts, now we had to wait for them to order it and get it in. They replace it and nope, wasn't that part it's the other part, now we have to wait for it again. They change it AND?! You guessed it, not that part it's this other part. Wouldn't you know we have to wait for it again. They change it out and still not working, it's this one last thing (that I had already replaced and had 3 hours on it), nope it's actually this one last part. Finally it's working. PARTS: we all know when you have to get a part thru MCH the price is jacked up 1000%. One of these parts we found at another kenworth, after market for $900, if we bring back the core it's only $600. So we tell them that, the guy says we have one for $900, so we decide that's fine since we'd be spending fuel and time to get it and bring it down then drive back home(4 hrs away). On the bill it shows $1200 after the cores taken off. The guy checking us out says "he messed up and told you the price we get it for". Seems to me they should've ate that cost then, instead of a 300 difference it was a $600 difference. COMMUNICATION: The communication was non existent. The only time I heard anything from them was when I called. Out of 25 days they called me once. TIME: At this place the "mechanics" operate on bankers hours. 8-5, 5 days a week even though service is open from 630 to midnight. I don't know if that's all the shop hands or if they assign one truck to one person and whenever it gets done it gets done. But the one on my truck was done by 5 and didn't work weekends, guess he wasn't allowed over time. No sense of urgency as if they don't know how the trucking industry works. I'm guessing they think the longer a truck sits the more money it makes?(shrug). CLOSING: A 14 thousand dollar bill after the truck sat there for 25 days and made nothing. We're not just out of pocket 14, we're down 30k because the truck couldn't make money. Of course the labor was more than the parts because these guys charge like they're professionals and takes weeks to "diagnose" and still throw parts at it. It would have been cheaper and faster to tow it back to home base and throw parts at it ourselves knowing we could get the same parts cheaper. Or tow it back and delete the issue, still would've saved 4 grand. Or even tow it to Boss Shop and have a more reasonable hourly rate. As far as the labor goes, they said they discounted it but I have footage to go thru on 2 different cameras, you know, to double check. I implore anyone reading this, take it to a different shop if you don't want to lose your ass, MCH knows when they have you bent over a barrel, hell, they'll supply the barrel, for a nominal fee.

If we accept that as a society, then we might as well assign every customer a number rather than ask for their name. Caliber Collision did just the opposite. I pulled up and didn't notice the sign that read they were only seeing vehicles by appointment. I apologized to the front office and explained my new Yukon was side swapped by someone's shopping cart last week in the wind. She called R.J. to see if he wanted to look at it while I was there. He came out professionally, shook my hand and after looking at it he decided to try to buff out the scratches rather than repair them. He drove it around back for 1/2 an hour and when he returned, he smiled shook my hand and told me to have a great day. This place proves that you have still have great customer service in a world that's moving too fast and schedules that we're unintentionally making far too full. I will return with any needed repairs in the future, and I will be referring all of my family members, friends and community to Caliber Collision. During my initial visit in July, I noticed that other guests were greeted warmly upon arrival, while I was not acknowledged. That may seem minor, but it speaks volumes about customer care. Additionally, my car was returned with a small gap in the bodywork. When I inquired about it, I was told that it was "the best that could be done," which did not instill confidence. My second encounter occurred less than six months later,the insurance company referred me again to Caliber Collision - Waxahachie. This time, communication issues and tone were the problem. Staff members were contacting my spouse instead of me, and when I called regarding a missed appointment, I was scolded rather than helped. I explained that I would come in that same day, but upon arrival, I waited 27 minutes despite there being no other customers. When it came time to discuss payment, I was quoted $600 instead of the $250 deductible. The representative responded very harshly when I asked about the difference. At that point, I decided to take my business elsewhere. This location could greatly benefit from improved customer service, communication, and consistency in pricing.

John took the tire off for us and found the tiny rock and sent us in our way.
