We had several errands to run and decided at the last minute to stop by AutoZone and get another battery if they had one in stock. We have used this store in the past. The store had a battery in stock. We were glad to hear that. Hubs paid for the battery and a store employee came outside to replace the battery. He told my husband the alternator wasn't working and the new battery was draining as the car was running. We didn't have any lights telling us the old battery was low nor did we have lights to tell us the new battery was low. I suggested we drive home and go to Shottenkirk first thing in the morning. Kudos to AutoZone for having the battery in stock! As for their employee and his tester, we are not sure if the employee doesn't know how to use the machine ir the machine is bad. Shottenkirk checked out the car and said everything works well.

That aside, he was looking at different Mazda's across middle-north Alabama online. Enter Hiley Mazda who offered several [non-white-in-color] Mazdas of the model my husband wanted. Hubs made an appointment; we piled in my car and off we went! He wanted my opinion of the car and for me to drive it as well as, of course, him to test drive it. Since I was running short on time, we didn't take the car out on 72 where traffic was building, but we did drive it around the spacious grounds which they share with a sister dealership. I drove it, and also rode in the back, checking out all the features. The sales guy [I didn't get his name] was really knowledgeable and nice, and not pushy at all and he answered all my questions. I noticed the floor mats were missing and he assured us they would include them [which they did], and he even pointed out he needed to obtain some type of cap that covers an optional towing hitch port. He provided the cap cover as well. He even suggested some money saving options for the electronic panel which exceeded the bar in helpfulness! I only spent about 20 minutes at the dealership and didn't go inside so I can't comment on that. My husband completed the transaction without reporting any issues or complaints to me. The price point was fair, and we are happy 2023 Mazda owners who enjoyed the Mazda on our recent ~14-hour roundtrip to Ohio. Thanks, Hiley!

Today we ordered brake shoes, to arrive by 3PM. My go-to store couldn't have them until tomorrow. Got them! Sat down to install them--no new hardware included! I do realize that drum brakes are old school, but even in modern times who on earth sells brake shoes without the hardware kit!? Advance Auto Parts does. Nobody in their right mind would put forth the effort to replace brake shoes without replacing the springs. The springs pull the shoes away from the drum when not in use. Kind of a big deal. Their customer service is great, but their offerings are deficient. They don't have the hardware kit available today or tomorrow. Neither does the other stores in this area..unless you buy the shoes with the hardware included. So guess who replaces drum brakes without replacing the springs? It is late, so the answer is this guy...unfortunately. I guess I'm not in my right mind :). Three stars for me because they contributed to putting me in the position. Check the contents closely or you may wind up on jack stands for a few days (or you might be forced to roll the dice, like me).

Called UHaul and after 20 minutes on the phone, they were able to contact the owner. He said he would be there in an hour...I tried to have patience and said I would go get lunch and they said he would call. Call never came. I returned over an hour later to find nobody there. Absolutely horrible business. If you have to step away, at least have the courtesy to call the customer before they waste their time.
