My experience has varied over the years, as one would expect with the employee turnover rate at an auto parts franchise. My last two visits I was given no hassle about bringing a two and a half year old battery in exchange for a new one. They tested it after charging it fully and quickly called and informed me I could swap it for a new one under warranty, free of charge. I dealt with three different individuals and they all separately had the same positive attitude with regard to my issue. They printed a copy of my old receipt for me with just my phone number (they need a physical receipt to submit to the manufacturer for warranty replacements) and had me out the door, brand new battery in hand, in about 5min while helping other customers. Pretty nice considering I ARRIVED at 8:58 on a Sunday night. (I know, i should have come in earlier! Def. My bad.) They were polite and didn't rush me at all. A+ read more

Friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and beyond helpful aptly describe my experience with O'Reilly Auto Parts, Scotts Valley yesterday evening . . . I needed a headlight bulb and stopped on my way home from work in Los Gatos at the Highway 17 summit to call ahead to ensure the bulb I needed was in stock. Brandon answered my call and took the time to look up the bulb I needed, ensure it was in stock, and quote pricing options. When I arrived at the store, Brandon helped me decide which bulb to purchase (I didn't realize the same size bulb was available in three tones/colors) and also answered a couple of random questions on a socket wrench and key fob. After ringing up my purchase and listening to me have no success getting a wifi signal to watch a Youtube instructional video on bulb installation for my vehicle, Brandon offered to do the bulb replacement for me! A few minutes later the bulb checked out as far being the correct "white" bulb (as opposed to yellow or blue) to match my other headlight bulb and I was on my way home. After a long day of work and wanting to replace the bulb before continuing home to Capitola after the sun had set, I so appreciated this O'Reilly's store location employing a very nice young man who offered superior customer service and human kindness. All the stars today, specifically for Rosalie at O'Reilly in SV. My windshield wiper blade broke late last night in the middle of a storm system. This morning, I came to the store HOPING there would be a replacement for my Mercedes metris van wiper blades. At first, it was a special order and they would let me know if a replacement even existed. That part was not fun, and those employees weren't as knowledgeable though they tried. Then i did my own research and brought my findings back to the store. Rosalie did the research, got my vehicle info, found the blades in the back, AND worked on my stuck blade for quite a while and, with the help of a passing customer and some wd40 (was there any doubt?), We got the old blade off and replaced the set. The cashier was extremely rude to me. I have been here twice in the last two weeks. The first time was fine- got what I needed and the staff was generally helpful and nice. However, this past time, I was blatantly called out as being "stupid" by the cashier after asking if they had a specific part for my vehicle. He then proceeded to give me the WRONG part, by which I identified was incorrect. Very annoyed that this older gentleman automatically assumed that I didn't know what I was talking about, was vocal about that, and then gave me terrible service. Also annoyed that he gave me zero constructive help, and I was all on my own. If this gentleman were a decent human being, he could have looked up my vehicle and it would have taken him less than two minutes to figure out what I needed and checked me out. Instead, he insulted me and gave me awful service. Absolutely disgusted. I should have told him to f*ck off. Nobody should have to walk into an auto parts store and be treated like crap because of their age and gender... or any reason for that matter. read more

I ordered a car battery online. The order was ready in a timely fashion. I ordered a size 48H. When I picked it up it was labeled 48PLT. I asked to check and was told by Brandon that you get what you order and he turned his back on me. I said please don't be like that. I want to learn if PLT is their code for 48H. He then turned back and said that was so. Just very rude. There were no other customers and 3 staff were working so no rush. Two stars because they had my order. read more

Been coming to this same location since it was a Kragen. Usually buy everything automotive here, including the house brand synthetic oil for my car and my motorcycle. However, my last experience there was so bad that I refuse to ever step foot in the doors again, which is something I've never had to say about another business before. Ordered a new battery for my bike, and they told me that someone would call me in the morning when it showed up. No one called me by 1, so I called them. He told me it hadn't showed up yet but it will be there any minute, and he will call me back. By three he still had not called back, so I drove down there, and was surprised when I walked in the door. He told me it would be on the truck that is showing up any minute. After waiting in my car for twenty minutes, I walked back in and he had found it, and claimed it was in the back the whole time. I asked him if this was a gel or a sealed battery, as it needs to be to work in my bike. He said yes. I got home, and it was not. I called and told him it was not a gel battery, and to hold onto my old battery so I can get it back. Took it back the next day with the battery and told him (same fat bloke) it was not the right one, and he takes the new battery and refunds me the core charge (which I never paid). I told him I did not pay a core charge and this isn't right, and I'm returning this new battery, and I want my old one. He then refunded me the price of the new battery, searched in the back for my old battery, and then I ordered it from Amazon and had the right battery here, the next day, cheaper, and not a generic in house brand. The only consolation from all this is despite me telling him I did not pay a core charge, and refusing to sign the form that he refunded me the extra $10, he apparently forgot to undo it and refunded me an extra $10 bucks. Guess it pays to have chimps work the register, just not for the business. If you need technical knowledge about a part go to Ernies in Felton. If you want lowest price go to Winchester across the street. read more

I went to get my headlight bulbs replaced under warranty because they stopped working after only a few monthes and i asked the woman at the counter if she could help me with this and she refused to help me retrieve the headlight bulbs from my car even though this is a service oreilly normally offers. She was very rude to me the entire time i was at the store and acted as if she didnt want me there. Not sure if i will ever go to this store again. read more

Every time I've gone here for auto parts, the guys that work here have been very helpful. They have cheap prices, and a price match guarantee. The only reason I gave them 3 stars, is because a couple times I've gotten the wrong parts. When I have gotten the right parts, they have been good long lasting parts. But getting the wrong parts definitely sucks. Having to work on your car is bad enough. And then having to run back and forth just adds to it. But if you bring in the old part and match it up to be sure, then this is a great place to go. read more

Whenever I come into the store the employees never greet guests as 'hi can I help you today?' It's always 'are you going to help her' I'm very disappointed by the lack of customer service and hearing employees CUSS in every sentence while working, very unprofessional. I bought a headlight and needed help installing and while they looked at my broken headlight for a moment neither of the 2 employees apparently knew how to change it when I've seen many other people getting headlights fixed there before. Every time I go in there and if an employee is on the phone with another customer, I am guessing, the customers in the store get completely ignored and a line s'tarts to build. How hard is it to talk on the phone while helping the customers in the store? Or even putting the person on hold while helping the people in the store?
