I took my car to a dealership 2 weeks ago for an air bag recall and when I picked it up they had found other things that needed to be fixed and quoted me $864 to replace the coolant hose, flush the coolant, replace the clamp and replace a missing washer on the oil pan & do an oil change . They also sent me a video of their technician explaining all that needed to be done. I've been going to Dr. Auto for years and sent them the video to get their quote which was $320 for the same work. It turns out that the hose was fine and the clamp just needed to be tightened. They did an oil change and replaced the washer all for $74.04. I highly recommend their excellent service & we are so lucky to have such a reliable and trustworthy business in our community. read more

I've brought 3 different vehicles to them over the past few years and I've always been really happy with the results. They performed emergency surgery on an old 4 runner that I bought which had A LOT of things wrong with it, and after they gave it back to me it ran like a brand new car almost. I had to rush out to a clients location 80 miles from Felton on Friday and I accidentally ran over a steep driveway which pulled the face plate protecting my exhaust pipe back making this huge scrapping and screeching noise. Ive used Alex for several years now, for my rare RX-7. I've had him do body work, custom electrical installs, and general repairs. He just installed a fresh set of tires for me yesterday. He's well-educated, knowledgeable, happy to share information and show you what he's talking about and explain it, his rates are fine and his work is terrific. I send every friend I can to him anymore without hesitation.. Also, the reviewer Lucia M who gave Alex a 1-star review is *factually wrong*. Resurfacing brake rotors IS NOT AT ALL standard with replacing brake pads. Nor can warped rotors be visually noticed. I've done both jobs for myself in the past. read more

Staff and work is excellent. But I was disappointed when they were fixing an oil leak gasket and then said there was oil i the bottom of the engine that might be there a a result of the gasket or it could be another leak they would have to check again. That was not acceptable, I thought they could have pressure washed the bottom to see if it was leaking elsewhere. Like fixing a leak on a sinking ship and not seeing where the rest of the water came from in the ship. Do the whole job.I spent close to 800--how about a little extra effort. In spite of that, I think they're quality people who honest and have integrity in their work. I look at this as a mistake; unfortunately, it means it's a mistake that's on my dime not theirs. read more

I live in Felton and was in need of a reliable auto repair shop. My vehicle was making a metal to metal scraping noise from the front right wheel. I called Dr. Auto to see if they could take a look at it. I spoke with Steve who said they were swamped but bring it in and he could take a look at it. Turns out it needed front brake pads but it was not an immediate need so I scheduled an appointment two days out. They completed the repair at the quoted price and although the repair took longer than originally estimated, Steve kept me informed with regular phone updates on the status of the repair. Second negative interaction with Dr. Auto. I took my car in for new front brake pads and afterwards, when slowing down on the freeway, the car wobbled. I took it back in. They said I needed new front roters to fix the problem. They would charge me an additional $250! Why didn't they notice that in the first place?? Took it into Lloyds in Santa Cruz. They said the roters only needed resurfacing, which is STANDARD with new brake pads. Dr. Auto completely screwed up and then refused to fix the real problem: THEIR WORK! I will NEVER go there again, and advise you to do the same. read more

When you take your car in to get repaired, it always feels like a gamble. You never know if the place it going to rip you off, try to sell you things you don't need, or in some cases treat you terribly! Worry no more! You have got to take your car into Dr Auto in Felton! I honestly feel like when I go in my car is in good hands, they care about my car, and they know what they are talking about. I've taken my car there 4 times now (twice with 2 different cars). I've never had fishy stuff go on with my car afterwards, which I know can happen after taking your car into sketchy places. Been coming here for years and never ever had a bad experience here. If you come in on a budget, they respect that and make sure you spend on what really needs work. I used to go to Ernies, but Dr. Auto has better prices, they are faster, and are at least as good a mechanic (if not better) as anyone else around for my Toyota and my Dodge. This was my first repair/experience with the shop and it was great! I found a coolant leak under my car and suspected the water pump. When I called, the guys were polite over the phone and able to schedule an appointment for me for the next day. After a diagnosis, they called back when they said they would to confirm the problem, discuss options, and suggested looking at the timing belt and pulleys while replacing the water pump. I said I had already replaced the timing belt only 40k miles ago, but that they should take a look while they were in there. They fixed my car on time and upon looking at the timing belt, etc., agreed that it didn't need to be replaced. The final bill was a bit less than they quoted me - all in a two or so day turn around. This was a stress-free and seamless experience. I trust this shop and will be back when I need any service on my vehicle. Lastly, others in town recommended the shop and they were right.
