Well, not just any wedding planner - you really should consider and call Tying the Knot. I'll admit it, when I was first engaged, I was skeptical about having a wedding planner. I thought, "what can they really help me with? I love to plan, I've figured it all out." MEH, Wrong. Turned out - having Brooke around really helped us with staying on track, planning and the overall timing of everything we needed to do. Everyone at Tying the Knot is very helpful and knowledgeable. I never felt like I was bothering them with any of my 1001 questions I may have had (or more). Getting married and all of the planning is a really big deal and it takes a lot of planning that most people don't have the time for. Consider the value of your time and invest that to some great wedding planners at Tying the Knot. You might go "hmm...do I need this" at first but when it's all said and done...and everything went smoothly...you'll be happy you went the route of a wedding planner.

We…read morehired Brooke for "day of" wedding services, which included speaking with all of our vendors, creating a wedding timeline, attending the wedding rehearsal and coordinating everything the day of our wedding. I knew I would be very involved with choosing all of our vendors and doing all of the planning so this was the perfect amount of help for our situation. We also got an hour of her time to use how we wanted and we chose to use it by having her attend our final meeting with our caterer. She asked the perfect questions! Brooke ensured all of our vendors knew their responsibilities and where / when to show up. She helped me coordinate things like who needed parking, who required a hot meal, etc. to ensure I didn't miss anything with all of the contracts. She helped coordinate our rehearsal at the actual church (not the dinner) and she spent the day of with my bridesmaids and me making sure we were on time to everything. While we did pictures around the city, she went to our reception venue to ensure everything was set up correctly. The few (tiny) issues that did come up on the actual wedding day she handled without even getting us involved. It was perfect! My parents were skeptical about having someone help us because they thought they could do everything I needed the day of the wedding, but I wanted everyone to be able to relax and have fun without worrying about all the details. Brooke totally won them over and they agreed afterwards that it was money well spent. We would absolutely recommend her to any of our friends!

Sometimes the vendors you end up choosing end up moving businesses and that's exactly what happened with Kehoe. We met with 4 different decor companies for my son's recent bar mitzvah and opted to go with Kehoe because we absolutely loved Mal- her energy, her warmth and (most of all) her fresh ideas. She was lovely and easy to work with throughout the entire process so I was bummed to learn a month before our big event that she she had moved companies. However, my planner assured me that we were in very good hands because Tom Kehoe was taking over our event and that most of our event was already in production. I guess this is the benefit of going with a large company like Kehoe. I do think things were a little more chaotic in the few weeks leading up to the bar mitzvah as Tom and his team (we mostly worked with Sydney) got up to speed. We had to redirect with some proofs at the last minute, but the finished product was more amazing than I even expected. The tennis decor they designed was youthful, classy and absolutely breathtaking. Even big sister (my 15 year old daughter) who is tough to impress walked in and said "WOW- this is actually really cool." And while there were many amazing wow moments from the night the #1 comment I received over and over and over again was that decor was unbelievable. It was definitely pricey and tough to swallow spending what we spent on what's essentially a 13 year olds birthday party, but I gave the same budget to 3 other well known decor companies and the budget went further with Kehoe than any of the others. And I thought their ideas were also more innovative and appropriate for a 13 year old boy. Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased. I'm bummed that Mal herself moved on, but would definitely consider using Kehoe again providing there is another designer who is a creative and fun to work with.

Then communication stopped entirely for weeks to months, despite multiple documented follow-ups via text, call, and email. When they finally responded, they said our main contact had gone on leave, but provided no apology or explanation on why there wasn't a better hand off for customer experience. After further delay, they arbitrarily doubled the proposal (excluding add-ons we agreed to), and offered no clear justification beyond a minor increase in stage size. This happened less than 50 days before our wedding, causing unnecessary stress and leaving us exposed to last-minute price gouging from other vendors. The exact opposite experience any couple preparing for their special day should have. We raised our concerns directly with Revel leadership and gave them every opportunity to explain or take responsibility instead of blaming their employees. They never responded. For a company that markets itself as premium, the lack of communication, professionalism, and accountability was appalling. It felt like a bait-and-switch targeting clients with less business acumen who would not question the changes. Go anywhere else.

The MCA recommended Revel as their preferred partner, and we're so thrilled we went with them because they pulled off the most beautiful wedding for us! We worked closely with Laurie & Megan to create a vision board and proposal. At first, my husband and I were completely lost about what we wanted (Traditional? Art Deco? No clue). Laurie & Megan spent hours of their time getting to know us and our taste, and brought their expertise to design a wedding that was beyond our imagination - contemporary, chic, and sexy, which perfectly suited our venue and black tie event. They also found creative ways to also stick to our budget, which is unheard of these days with weddings, and they delivered everything we asked for and more. Our wedding happened to fall on Lollapalooza weekend, which Revel was also working. We reached out to Clover about four months before or wedding, desperate for help in coordinating the overwhelming array of vendors we had secured. Niki jumped right in, and took over as primary contact with the space, the caterer, the photographer, the staffing agency, and everyone else. Our stress level dropped immediately and dramatically, giving us the space and time to focus more on the meaning and excitement of our impending nuptials. Niki met with us on several occasions and set up a variety of very helpful walk-throughs with various vendors. So many times throughout the process my then-fiance and I said to one another "How could we ever have done this without Niki?" Niki was so professional, thoughtful, attentive, patient, kind, flexible, fun, and supportive throughout the entire process. She was incredibly organized and detail-focused but not in an excessive, pushy, or overbearing way. It brought us a tremendous amount of peace to know so many very important details were in her very trustworthy hands, and she proved to be a very resourceful, calming presence on the actual day of the wedding.
