My husband and I spent four nights here (actually we had only reserved three nights, but I couldn't stand to leave so soon. We were very lucky to be able to book a fourth night in our Persia room). Every morning we were served an amazing four-course vegan breakfast. (Something different and equally amazing every day!) I am a vegan, and the fact that they are happy to accommodate special diets was the first thing that drew me to this place. I actually did a Google search for "vegan bed and breakfast Victoria B.C." and that was how I discovered this gem. Danuisa and Wanja were so wonderful and friendly. One or both of them greeted us every morning with a smile. I don't know how they did everything they did. I swear they were like ninjas...while we ate breakfast our bed was always made, trash was emptied, and everything was tidied. When we left in the evenings, even if for just 20 minutes, we'd come back to a turned-down bed with chocolates and a light on in our room. This was impressive to me! I loved the complimentary Amarone della Valpolicella in the library. Speaking of the library, wow! What a fun place to hang out! I can't think of one negative thing to say about this place. Perhaps that's why I was also unable to find anything less than a five-star review of it while doing my research beforehand. "Exquisite" really is the best word to describe this place. Thank you Danuisa and Wanja for such an enjoyable and memorable stay! I have already told my parents that they have to come here, my Facebook friends that this was my favorite trip I've ever taken, and will continue to highly recommend Villa Marco Polo every chance I get! I can't wait to go back!

Diana and Alex are wonderful and make you feel right at home the moment you ring the doorbell to check in. Diana is the reason we had such a wonderful time exploring Victoria. Every suggestion she had was the most wonderful, from taking a water taxi to various locations, to restaurant suggestions, to what time of day was the best to visit certain places. Breakfast was elegant and wonderful and each of the 4 courses was served with such class. The coffee was delicious. My favourite thing to do was meander out into the garden after breakfast and read in the quiet morning light with bumble bees collecting pollen peacefully right next to me. We stayed in the Alexandria room, and the double soaker bathtub, the Victorian reading nook, the Persian rugs, and the soft light were among the 100 reasons I want to make this a yearly place to visit.

Abbeymoore (I think) is a historic building that is part of the historical society. This Bed & Breakfast is charming in every way, easy to spot from the road and just enough spots for those staying with them. Every morning breakfast is served in the breakfast nook around 8 am. A menu of items is provided day off, but they do an amazing job at accommodating allergies! I'm lactose sensitive (no cream, soft cheeses, etc) and they were able to accommodate this easily. I'm unsure about cross contamination if guests have severe allergies, but sure that if you call ahead of making a reservation you will know whether they can accommodate or not. The check-in process was quick and clean. There was a gentleman waiting for us near the front door. The entry door code and wifi code are provided when you book the hotel. I like this process as it furthers the feeling of staying with a family friend or relative. There is complimentary small snacks, refrigerated drinks, and hot water available throughout the day. At breakfast a carafe of coffee is brought out along with apple cider mix and tea. The room itself was gorgeous! We were in a room with the claw footed tub, amazing piece of history and (I heard) one of the most popular rooms. The walls aren't paper thin, like in most hotels, but you can still hear footsteps of people walking up and down the stairs. Rooms are equipped with hangers and a robe in the closet, outlets, an alarm clock, and bathrooms with basic amenities (hair dryer, soap and shampoo, toilet paper, and facial tissue). I did enjoy the added bonus of a small tray with facial tissue, chocolates, and magazines of local attractions and shopping recommendations. All in all, I would gladly return!

It was very old, not well maintained and above all not cleaned well. The sheets were old and had several hair as if they weren't washed from previous stay. What bothered me further is that the host Jeff was adamant about it and just won't listen to our request. It was a horrible experience and I wish I could have avoided this place as it simply ruined our experience.

David and Paulanne provided every assistance possible. Breakfasts were varied and scrumptious in a dining room looking over the street. If you stay more than three nights they provides discounts for local attractions. They always made sure that we had directions if needed to go where we wanted to go. And, they also provided suggestions when asked. The accommodations were clean and very beautiful in an older home with appropriate furniture. The rooms look just as fresh and modern as they did a decade ago, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. We love staying in this part of Victoria because it is so walkable, with beautiful parks and charming local spots like The Village nearby. It's also a fantastic dog-friendly option, which made it easy to bring our two pups along for my mom's 70th birthday celebration. While the staff was fantastic and the mineral pools--especially the glass-roofed sauna with views of the ocean--remain a highlight, we did run into some frustrations. The AC struggled to get below 69°F in any of the three rooms we booked, leading to some restless nights. We also had the misfortune of being next to a very loud group that made it difficult to enjoy our outdoor space. The front desk was helpful enough to intercede at 10 PM so our son could finally get to sleep, but the thin walls and noise levels were disappointing given the premium rate. Overall, it is a stunning hotel in a perfect location, but the climate control and soundproofing issues were a bit of a letdown for this particular trip. It remains a beautiful spot for a family getaway, but we're hoping for a quieter and cooler experience next time.

Our room was spacious with an ocean view, if you open the door you can hear the water running to shore from the balcony. The king size bed was just the right amount of firmness, plush bedding was very comfortable. Small fireplace with wall mounted tv above had a good selection of stations. Big soaker tub with sliding peek a boo doors to the bedroom means you can soak and watch tv or chat with your roomie. Large shower, double sinks and separate toilet area was nice. They have Babor amenity bath and shower products. Nespresso machine with pods and real creamers in fridge, microwave and cooktop for those who want to cook in room. Plush robes and bath salts are a nice touch. Room was $500+, so amenities and comfort were commensurate.

Vanessa, a professional cook and baker, made every meal with her loving care. I'm usually not a breakfast fan, but the homemade apple strudel, granola, scones, and omelets were too much to resist. If you want to feel like you're staying with friends while in Victoria, this is the place to go. Quaint decor, and great hospitality are what you'll find here. We loved their furry/feathered friends, Butler, their cat and two Moroccan Cockatoos, Chucky and Casper! Vanessa and Dean were great about being there when we needed them for info about activities or directions, and also great about not jeopardizing our privacy. We stayed in the lovely Lavender Room for 4 wonderful nights. We really enjoyed having the garden patio at our disposal since the nights were worth sitting out in. We lit some tea lights, and enjoyed some cold beverages by starlight. It is an older house, so there was no A/C and the room could get hot and stuffy during the day, but with the door or window cracked open a bit, and a small fan running, we always got a cool enough ocean breeze at night to keep us happy. There was a TV in the room with cable and a built in DVD player on the side. Down in the entrance in the Harry Potter computer nook we found the internet provided was fast and dependable. Since we are young and wild and had no idea when we would be coming or going at night we were relieved to find that you have your own key code so it wasn't an issue and we didn't disturb the hosts or any other guests. The B&B is within walking distance to many shops, Fisherman's Wharf, and downtown Victoria. Vanessa was an absolute doll and even packed a lunch for us since we had to catch our departing ferry at 6AM and would miss her phenomenal breakfast!! Another fun feature of the bed and breakfast is that they even have a couple friendly spirits in residence. I didn't experience them myself, but I love hearing ghost tales about old buildings. A thousand kudos to this lovely B&B! Our stay was worth every cent and more!

Vanessa and Dale are amazing hosts and run the best B&B I have ever been to. The room was clean, quite, and beautiful, the bed was amazingly comfortable, and having a small TV with cable was a nice feature usually lacking in B&B's. Wireless Internet worked perfectly and was very handy. They also had a guest computer in the main area available for use 24/7. The hotel is in a great location if you don't mind a short (8 min) walk to the inner harbor. Parking was no problem, and it is in a VERY safe neighborhood, which was nice to walk in at any time of the day. Vanessa is an AMAZING chef, her breakfasts were perfectly prepared and seasoned, pray that you get a day where she is making Eggs Benedict, which was some of the best I have ever had. The omelets were incredible, and the home-made granola was a real treat! Have Vanessa hand draw you a map of a fun drive! We went to Sooke, which was not much of a town, but had a nice little beach on a man made breaker that was a good little get-away from the city. I cannot say how wonderful this accommodation made our trip, truly a stellar establishment. Thanks Vanessa!!!!!!

(get ready, this is a long one)…read more After a few very different stays at Bodega, I can honestly say that it's one of my absolute favourite places in the world. In.the.world. The staff not only take an unfathomable amount of pride in their work, but are friendly, professional, and entirely accommodating of just about any reasonable request. One of their star employees, Dave, has always made me feel as though I am not just a guest, but am visiting my second home. And I imagine that I'm not alone when I say that after the first visit and meeting with the owners, Jesse and Chris, that I felt as though I'd gained two new best friends. Talented, whip smart, and cool, they are the perfect proprietors of such a place. Island life can be tricky, teetering between too hippie and too stuffy, but they've found a real balance by being themselves, and the property at Bodega reflects this. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen in each of the seven cabins, this is not what I'd consider roughing it by any stretch of the imagination. A classic log cabin inside and out, the modern touches are what make it cool. Plush leather couches, filament bulb lamps, Pendleton blankets, reclaimed Douglas Fir tables--the could-be twee aspect of cabin life is exonerated by sensible design. There's even a flat screen TV in each cabin with a small library of movies in the main lodge to choose from, but I wouldn't bother--there's so much to see and do at or nearby Bodega Ridge. Spectacular meadows, forests, and wildflowers surrounding the property, Bodega is positioned so that it's almost always bright and sunny. The staggeringly beautiful trails along the ridge offer one of the best views of the gulf islands, and the ocean is close enough to walk to in a matter of minutes. Also, bonus: the weirdly infamous Stoneworld (as seen here: http://www.hellobc.com/british-columbia/blog/january-2011/stoneworld-on-galiano-island.aspx) is a worthy stop on the way to a serious magical forest hike. Free wifi throughout the property, an amazing main lodge that can accommodate up to 70 dinner guests, and wonderfully knowledgeable proprietors who will have a recommendation for just about anything--all a quick boat ride from Vancouver. I don't know that I have the words to describe just how amazing Bodega Ridge is. Bringing the city to the island, staying rustic and real, this place has it all. **of note: Bodega is located about a 40 minute drive, or a few leisurely hours by bike from the ferry. Arrive prepared.
