I had a very disappointing experience with Oak Crest Preschool, particularly with the director. From the beginning, I felt that my child was unfairly judged and discriminated against due to his behavior on his first day, his speech delay, and the fact that he is not yet potty trained for his age. Instead of demonstrating understanding or support, the director was condescending and dismissive. What was especially concerning was that she took it upon herself to diagnose my child as autistic based on her "20+ years of experience." I found this extremely inappropriate and unprofessional, as she is not a licensed medical professional and should not be labeling children in this way. As a parent, I was hoping for compassion, patience, and partnership in helping my child grow, especially since this was his first time attending daycare and he needed to adjust to social interactions. Instead, I left feeling judged and disheartened. I would not recommend Oak Crest Preschool to families who value inclusivity, empathy, and professional boundaries. I paid $225 for the registration and curriculum fee non-refundable, which I worked hard to afford, yet it was clear that the curriculum was never applied to support my child. Had all three of my children at this daycare at some point in time (starting in 2016) and sadly cannot leave a positive review. From my experience I can say it is in a safe and convenient location and the owners daughter who was there when my last child was briefly enrolled is lovely to deal with but the actual owner and face of the facility is passive aggressive, and condescending at the very least. Every-time there was a request for anything she refused to accommodate it. For the cost it is not a deal and does not provide adequate services. My last child was attacked and this was the third time in three days, he was left with a deep scratch in his face that is now a permanent scar a year later. He also "fell" into a bookshelf that left possible fracture in his skull and permanent calcification and dent in his forehead. The doctor said it will Most likely never go away (happened 19 months ago) The first two requests on the injuries that had occurred previous to the serious one were dismissed despite my son telling me another kid hurt him. Additionally my son had a medical emergency (seizure) and requested to see footage per the doctors request and they refused to help me obtain this. Lastly to these isolated incidents, I have never felt more unwelcome in a place that I spent thousands and thousand of dollars at. We have switched to a different preschool and it is like day and night compared to Oak Crest, I didn't realize until i switched how terrible my experience over a 4 year period actually was. They really could improve how they treat staff and families and ultimately the care they provide kids. read more

What a great group of people. We tried Montessori, and looked into everything from day care chains to the Catholic schools. These folks were hands down the best. Initially, we thought they were the best because they were so friendly, the place was so clean, and behind it all was great structure. But ultimately, what made them great I think was the everyday interaction with our daughter. The care, compassion, tolerance, and genuine interest in doing what they do exceedingly well. Oak Crest Preschool is amazing! I highly recommend. They have the best teachers and a great front office staff. They keep the school extremely clean and always have a smile on their face. This is my third child to go through the preschool experience and he has learned and grown so much here. He has also stayed healthy too. I can't recommend Oak Crest Preschool high enough to families searching for high quality child care. I have 2 children ages 2 and 5 who attend full time Monday - Friday. They have attended for 1.5 years and I have toured several schools/daycares/pre-schools before deciding on Oak Crest. I have been so impressed by how my children's motor and cognitive skills have been guided by the programs they are in at Oak Crest. They are enriched and engaged all day through creative experiences - too many to list! My children LOVE going there and I genuinely feel as though they are part of the family with the care they provide. The playground areas are separated by age group, secure and unexpectedly secluded and pretty. I am in great communication with the kids' teachers on behavior and developmental progress. In the case that one of my kids has a "boo-boo" I receive written incident reports whenever my child has an accident and I am always called ahead of time. (which is very appreciated) All snacks and meals are packed at home. The toddler ages were a little challenging for me, personally, because all items needed to be individually labeled and had size restrictions. This was a change that the state of Florida required, though. I've heard of other schools not enforcing it which would have made things easier on my end but I was comforted knowing that all aspects of care were in line and exceeded state requirements. There have been several reviews addressing the owner's personal demeanor which is why I wanted to weigh in on the subject. I believe that because Denay is professional and has maintained a standard exceeding other facilities providing similar care, she may be perceived as unpleasant. I've observed Denay and the staff during standard state standard inspections for licensing and compliance checks for the various changing laws year-to-year and you wouldn't be able to tell that it is any day out of the ordinary. read more

Oak Crest Preschool was a disappointment, to say the least. My child attended for two years. He was enrolled in a 3-year old and a 4-year old classroom. I sincerely wish I had trusted my instincts as a mom, and transferred my child somewhere that he would have had a positive and nurturing environment to learn and grow in. I saw several "red flags" from the first interview we had at the school, which was with a teacher. Neither the owner, nor the director, took the time to meet with us as we toured the school multiple times. It felt unwelcoming and "cold;" however, I was impressed with the large classrooms, educational materials and curriculum, and the reported high rates of student achievement. Through friends, we had heard of several families that had removed their children from this school, but for some reason we ignored the "red flags" and enrolled in the school anyway. The first day, as a three-year old, our son had difficulty transitioning to a new school and cried a majority of the day, as many young children do. I stayed in the room for a bit and called to check on him throughout the day. The response from the director and teacher was that he was doing "ok." My son told me after three days in the school that the teacher put him outside in the outdoor hallway because he was crying and she "didn't want to hear it." I was heartbroken that a teacher of three year old babies would do something like that and didn't send him to school the next day. Somehow, again, I ignored my gut feelings, and allowed the teacher's explanation of the situation to cloud my judgment. These types of instances continued for the next two years. In the two years we spent at Oak Crest, we were invited to the school a total of three times for a 100-day celebration, a picnic, and an end of year celebration. A generic newsletter was sent home every couple of months. My child's teacher was only willing to share information if I tracked her down at pick up or if I called the school. We never received any personal information about our young child's progress in academic or social/emotional growth unless we basically begged for it. Based on many, many interactions with the teachers, owner, and director at Oak Crest, I feel that I was not only shut-out, but actually lied to about my child's experiences and progress in academic as well as social/emotional well-being. I feel my child would have grown academically at any other school and would have done so without having to endure the cold and negative environment that he was exposed to at Oak Crest. It is truly heartbreaking to realize that your child is not being lifted up and encouraged in a preschool setting, which is the foundation for his entire educational experience. He never felt excited about school or proud of himself. The teachers, director, and owner were disconnected and extremely difficult to communicate with. I feel they were dishonest and did not genuinely care about my child's well-being. As a mom, I feel it is my responsibility to share my devastating experience with the parents that are taking the time to research and find a school that will nurture their child both academically and emotionally. I was disappointed by this school. I thought it was going to be a great place for my son but it wasn't. The staff is very indifferent and cold. Upon pick up we would get very limited if any feedback on how our cold did during the day. Drop off is in a classroom that isn't where our child spent his day, pick up was also in another classroom. Too much shuffling around & I encountered different staff too frequently upon pick up & drop off. My child was constantly getting sick there as well, they allow children who appear physically ill to attend as long as they are not vomiting or have diarrhea per the office staff. Overall it's a pretty looking school but lacks personal affect towards the family and children who attend. read more
