It's a breath-taking site and a bittersweet reminder of what these national cemeteries represent. Veterans of all wars beginning with the Civil War are here. Although the headstones are uniform, as is the lettering (except for those pre-dating WWI), some are in the ground and some are not, the singular touches added by the families make each personal. On this morning, the Memorial Day flags were drying from the heavy rain the night before. Some had fallen over. Visitors like me would straighten them as we walked. The flowers dotting the landscape acknowledge those who haven't been forgotten in the recent times, and Memorial Day is a kind of equalizer. Every grave has a flag. There were some visitors who never left their cars, either they parked somewhere, or drove slowly looking. Just looking. Other people, some disabled, exited their cars and made their way slowly through the markers. Visiting a national cemetery is more than just acknowledging the meaning of these places, but also about the people that visit -- even those who come by but once a year or once a lifetime.

I edited this review because I had originally left a very bad review with details on all the things that went wrong.

Our experience with Dillow-Taylor was very professional & personable, until everything was all over…read more& we left & came back home to Va. We paid for & were assured that his grave marker would be placed & they would send us photos when it was done. I will say that this happened during 2020, however, it's now Dec. 2022 & still they have not followed up with the marker or photos. I have called several times & still I have not received the promised photos to show that the marker has in deed been placed. Very disappointed.
