This is still an active cemetery with just a handful of graves on it with much more room for future residents. There is an access point on Caldwell Lane, but unfortunately it looks like someone just drove right through the gate destroying it. There is no sign denoting the name of the cemetery but there is another cemetery nearby called Comanche Cemetery North. Considering its location I was surprised to see that the grass was well mowed and the graves were well tended. However being such a small cemetery there is no road of any sort leading into it so you'll just have to park just past the gate. The primary name that I could find here was Haws and in the corner of the cemetery is a large oak tree that obscures some fallen older gravestones. I did not spot any historical names here, unlike the nearby Hainy Church cemetery. It should be pointed out that just a couple hundred feet south of the cemetery lie additional headstones in a field along Caldwell. However, they are not as easily seen because this field is overgrown with weeds and the graves don't appear to be cared for. There's not a whole lot to see at this site, but there's room enough to make it your forever home.

This is still an active cemetery with plenty of room for more decedents and the most recent graves are from 2022. The cemetery is easily accessed and has a dirt lane that circles the cemetery. It occupies roughly about 4 acres and most of the burials have taken place in the last 50 years. There are quite a number of service members buried here, but I did not find any WWI vets. The grounds, the trees and the graves themselves have been well cared for over the years. The photos included in this review may persuade you to make this your forever home.

The address of this cemetery and other houses in this area are attached to the Elgin zip code since this area is not a city itself (the area falls about a mile past where the Bastrop zip code picks up).

I almost gave up looking for this cemetery because of its remote location. Google maps has it at…read moreone location when in reality it's almost a quarter of a mile away. It's very close to Highway 20 and Shiloh Road, which is just on the outskirts of Bastrop, Texas. In order to find it, you'll have to turn into a school parking lot and then very quickly veer left onto a single lane dirt road and follow it about 1000 feet until you arrive. This is still very much an active cemetery for the local residents. It sits on about 3 to 5 acres and still has additional room in case you're interested. After scanning many of the headstones, it is primarily an African-American cemetery judging by the headstones and porcelain portraits affixed to those markers. It has a single gravel road that dead ends at the back of the cemetery. There's a lot of randomness as to how the graves are arranged with lots of flowers left by loved ones. I did not spot any headstones from the 1800s, the vast majority are from the latter part of the 20th century and on. There were a few service members buried here and most of the graves have granite headstones, but some are in the cheaper cast concrete. It's a quiet place, but you can still hear the traffic on Highway 20 not far away.

The sign pictured below will tell you more than I can say. This is still an active cemetery with some recent interments. Many of the graves are still adorned by visiting family members. There is a gravel lane that runs through the property and there is space to park outside the entrance. The cemetery itself is not especially very orderly with graves appearing to be randomly located around the property, but there are some family plots. There's also a mix of new and old markers along with those cast in concrete and a number of graves with no marker other than the one left by the funeral home. Still plenty of room for future interments, but there is no information on the property. You'll have to check with the Mount Olive church which sits close by. Informative photos and video included.

It is tucked behind some trees 20 feet from the highway, but not enclosed by a fence. You'll have to park on the Buck Ln somewhere and walk a few hundred feet along the highway to gain access. I was surprised that it was not completely swallowed up by vegetation and in fact has been reasonably cared for over time, perhaps by the road crews. It is a small cemetery dedicated to the Fowler family. Out of the 12 gravesites here, sadly eight of them belong to children two years old and less. Judging by the prominence of the markers, it's likely this was a local family that was probably wealthier than most. As to the significance of the family name, I'll leave that up to someone else to investigate. The photos included in this review add more insight.

Ellen takes excellent care of the grounds, information, and families. The information that animals are buried in this wooded park is openly advertised so it stands to reason that if you purchase a plot in an area where animals may be buried, you may expect to have an animal buried near your plot. This burial park is so peaceful and lovely, I purchased my plot today.

There's not much more to say but there's definitely a lot more that could be said. I hope someone there decides to always include all of the immediate family when it comes to the death of a loved one, instead of just rushing things along without taking into consideration, "The Golden Rule." This cemetery is very large and it appears every single person who has ever lived in Giddings is interred here. There are literally thousands of graves that are meticulously well ordered and arranged in family plots. On the property, you'll find an open covered memorial area along with an enclosed mausoleum. Most of the names found on the headstones are of German and European origin. There were quite a number of recent interments towards the rear of the cemetery where there is still some open space. Many of the graves are well visited due to the plastic flowers and trinkets. For more information concerning who's buried where, there is a cemetery office located at the back of the property. Considering the size of this cemetery, I was surprised I could not find a Texas historical sign when I walked the property. One of the nicer well cared for cemeteries that I've seen.
