After a lot of phone calls and research, we did a trial lesson with Trish and immediately enrolled for biweekly lessons after the trial. Trish is an amazing coach and knowledgeable equestrian who prioritizes the care of her herd. In the last few months, she's help my daughter undo some habits that were negatively impacting her riding while giving her the skills and tools needed to improve, growing her confidence and knowledge. Both of us have also been learning a lot about natural horsemanship and the benefits of pasture boarding. Additionally, the community at Chesapeake Central Equestrian is fantastic, with the other riders engaging and supporting one another. Finally, Chesapeake Central Equestrian also houses SAINT Annex, which is an extension for special need cats who are recovering and getting ready for adoption. Further proof this stable is special. Highly recommend Chesapeake Central Equestrian Center for anyone looking to learn about the horse world, improve their riding, board and train a horse, and beyond.

She got such a great foundation there and has became very accomplished as a collegiate rider. We have also had a horse boarded there. Trish is THE BEST natural horsemanship person I have ever met. It is extremely safe to take lessons there as the basics are taught in a professional, fun, safe way. The school horses are wonderful and safe. As far as boarding, you will not find a better place for your horse. The pastures are rotated, waterers are automatic, and Shelters provided. There are also big stalls if needed. The personal care the horses get is top notch. Trish treats every horse as if it were hers. I want to give this facility ten stars but I will settle for five.

Booking and paying online was easy. Printed the waiver and brought it in. We arrived 15 min early as requested, but no one was in the office. Had to ask someone to get a worker, and someone finally came in 5 min after or scheduled time. A little annoying, but the rest of the trail ride was great, so water under the bridge. Brandi and Bethany helped us on our horses (Pengo and Spartan) and gave us a quick run down of how to guide the horses. The horses were very easy to ride, each with their own amusing personalities. Our trail guide was friendly, answered any questions we had (we were the only riders), and pointed out a few of the other resident horses and little tid bits about them. Also gave us some space to really just enjoy the ride, which was perfect. The trail itself was a basic trail that traversed the Galena territory, went by some houses, up and down some gentle hills. We got back after an hour and they took some photos for us. All in all, it was a great ride and we wouldn't hesitate to come back in the future.

I'd say it's best to visit as part of a group. The experience is especially great for kids. The decor is homey, cozy and involves lots of rugs, so if you have allergies, I recommend bringing your allergy meds. The place is really interactive - little dogs in sweaters greeting you as you drive in, pigs available for pets, chickens you can feed, and of course the horses and goats you can visit. The beds were comfy enough, and each room has a different theme (horses, under the sea, etc). It's a quick drive into town, but also great for outdoor activities. We did a bit of bike riding but it was a bit too cold for us to venture onto the water.

Animals are well taken care of, some of them were rescued. They have chickens, rooster, ducks, 2 pigs, dogs, goats, pony and horses. It was amazing and therapeutic at the same time. Children enjoyed horseback riding. This was truly one of the kind experience, and we can't wait to go back in summer. I highly recommend it!

How have I never written a review!?…read more Colony Acres Family Farm is an NL staple-- having been around for over 25 years! In the summer it boasts sunflowers. In the fall there's games, food/drinks, pumpkin patch picking, a market and of course, the corn maze. In the winter Colony Acres offers fresh-cut trees and Santa. I've only event ventured here during the fall-- tickets are $11-16. (*Pro Tip: order online to save a few bucks a ticket.*) My kids adored the zip line, slides, train ride, bouncy pad and corn maze. We typically don't get pumpkins here but there's a wide selection of those-- mums, corn stalks, hay bales and more. The farm is closed Mondays and Tuesdays during the fall. It allows dogs! There's plenty of parking. Staff is uber friendly. Stop by.
